Dear Democratic Party, Anyone who reads this site can tell you that I am not prone to hyperbole or overstatement. I don’t do rash or bombastic, and I don’t say extreme things to get a rise out of people. To the contrary, I consider myself rational, calm and thoughtful. So take note when I say the following: I have come to despise you.
This is not about disagreement over policy. I am not talking about your indifference to the Constitution, your nonsensical proposals, or your sad devotion to long discredited ideas. Those are ideological matters. And while I do not share your views, I can at least understand them. But what I am talking about here is everything else.
You are a party of spite. You would rather bring down “those who have” than lift up “those who have not.” You want to hold back those who are faster or smarter, hinder those who can, take from those who have more, and destroy rather than accept less than what you think is your unearned, "fair" share. You are destructive.
You are a party of hate. You do not debate, you demonize and destroy. There are no good faith disagreements in your world, only those who blindly follow and those you try to destroy. You promote speech codes and political correctness and hate crimes laws and other instruments of suppression of thought, just to quiet all opposition.
You are racists. You see the world through a prism of race, you accuse all who oppose you of racism and you pretend to find racial offense in all things, just to keep the races separated, suspicious and agitated. And I say “pretend” because you only find offense in the words or deed of your opponents, but never your friends who do and say the same things. You also diminish minorities with your condescension. Your policies all assume that blacks or Hispanics cannot succeed except with the assistance of white liberals, you argue that corruption within the black community should be ignored because it is a matter of culture, you argue that Hispanics cannot learn English like the millions of immigrants before them. Clearly, you see these groups as inferior to you.
Your arrogance and condescension are disgusting. You wrongly assert that average people need you to run their lives, that they are beneath you. You call America "fly-over country." You think that you are entitled to luxury on our tax dollars. And you are totalitarians. When you come up with an idea, you try to force all others to accept it. Persuasion to you is the brute force of law.
You are hypocrites. You criticize others for things you do yourself. You shout down others but cry like shrill children when others stand up to you. You deny others the very rights you demand. You rail against the rich, yet you are some of the richest bastards on the planet. You complain about the influence of money, yet you are bought and sold. You are corrupt from stem to stern. There isn’t a form of corruption that isn’t common within the ranks of your elected leaders.
You are liars. You lie like it’s pathological. You lie to hide your ideology. You lie to hide your true intents. You lie to hide your failures. You lie to make the success of others appear to be a failure. You lie about the past, about the present and about the future, and you do so without a moment’s remorse.
You are irresponsible. You happily spend this country into bankruptcy. You happily destroy the institutions that hold this country together. You happily promote policies that destroy people’s lives. And you do this without a single thought to the consequences.
And finally, you are traitors to this country, and I do not say this lightly. I never used to believe this, then I saw Nancy Pelosi glowing at the prospect of disaster in Iraq just to make political gains against Bush. I saw her undermine us in Syria. I saw so many of you cozy up to dictators and thugs who have preached the destruction of America. I’ve seen Democrat after Democrat undermine our foreign policy, our military, our economy, and our culture. I saw Frank Murtha accusing American soldiers of phantom war crime. I saw Obama alienate and sell out our allies. And a hundred more examples. These are not policy differences you are expressing, these are treachery.
So as we enter the Christmas season, which is always a time for reflection, ask yourself why others would see you this way. Is this what you want to stand for? Is this what the party of Jefferson, of Jackson, of FDR and JFK has become?
Maybe it's time for a change.
Wow. I feel the heat. And I second that emotion. Well said, sir.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the local scene, where individuals such as Rep. Sally Kern are vilified as being hateful and intolerant...by individuals who deface posters of her likeness and commonly refer to her (and her family members) in blog and conversation using names I can't repeat. And THEY want to preach to us about tolerance and acceptance.
Thanks JG, I'm glad you second it!
ReplyDeleteI just finally hit my tolerance point with these people watching the health care debate and everything else they are doing. It's stunning to watch the way they behave.
And what you mention about Kern is exactly the kind of thing that has been rubbing me wrong for years. These people preach tolerance, but then turn around and do the vilest things because they think the rules they want to apply to others don't apply to them. It's time to call them out on it.
Andrew: Thankfully, I'm not old enough to remember Jefferson, Jackson or FDR (contrary to popular belief). But as a teenager, I worked hard for the election of JFK. I admired his moderate social policies and his determination to stand up to communism and equally importantly to American socialism (e.g. his across the boards tax cuts because "a rising tide raises all boats").
ReplyDeleteSo as a reformed radical and as an ex-Democrat, I join you on two counts in saying "I have come to despise you."
Now tell us what you really think. LOL
Lawhawk, Yeah, I'm a little annoyed, that's for sure. But it's hard not to feel annoyed when you see the way they are acting day after day. . . the lies, the hate, the corruption. Not a day goes by without another example.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to JFK, I have often wondered how the Democratic Party of 50 years ago would respond to the Democratic Party of today -- I suspect it would be with outrage.
Andrew: Having been there, and considering my current beliefs, I'd have to think that the moderate/liberal Democrat of 1960 would be the moderate/conservative Republican of today, without having to change a single belief. In today's Republican party, I think they are certainly well-represented in the moderate wing of the Republican party, and are among the ones we have to nudge right and maintain in the party. Not everyone went full monty conservative like me.
ReplyDeleteone of the things i love about you is when you call them jerks. makes me laugh every time, because it's so stinkin' true. but i also suspected that you were a reasonable man, and THAT'S why it is so funny to me. i feel your pain, brother.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patti! :-)
ReplyDeleteI call 'em like I see 'em, and this one has been building for a long time. But this week it really finally hit a high note with the way they're acting on health care and climategate and a dozen other things.
Well hallelujah brother, “welcome to the dark side,” …just kidding. I’m with you Andrew, for me I had my “Road to Damascus” moment with Carter. A liberal is nothing but a petulant child whose argument is - - you ask why? …they say because. And like the petulant child, a spanking and off to bed is what they require. You simply can’t argue with a sick mind, or a child, so don’t. The Democrat party anymore is a cult, that we’ve allowed to metastasize in to a seething, envious, monster, that have caused reasonable people (the real majority), such as yourself to despise them. When we put them away this time, starting in 2010, we need to keep the pressure up, staying with my child metaphor, ground them into perpetuity.
ReplyDeleteI'll second JG's well said!
ReplyDeleteThanks Monica! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in thinking this.
ReplyDeleteStan, This has been brewing for years. I was offended the way they treated Reagan and there were always incidents. But they used to seem more isolated.
ReplyDeleteBut over the last 10 years or so, their party -- particularly their leaders -- have lost any sense of propriety.
Andrew,
ReplyDeleteThank you. Well stated and right on the money.
I believe The United States of America has reached it's tipping point. It won't respond to Obama and the Democrats overtures.
After this summer's reaction to HealthCare (Tea Parties), a reasonable party would drop HealthCare reform and Cap and Trade. Now, with the idiots going through with it, the average American will turn on them.
Joel, You're welcome. I think you're absolutely right about their response. A reasonable party would have realized they'd gone wrong and would have looked for better bills. Instead, they just got nasty about passing these things.
ReplyDeleteThey are like a party possessed with doing something rotten and they know they only have a short time to do it.
And few rulers in the past would have treated something like the Tea Party crowd with such disdain. Mainly the Czars, third world thugs, and a couple of decapitated French kings are about it.
Thank you Andrew...I was wondering what to write in my Christmas card to the White House and selected members of Congress, and you...little old Andrew....have provided me with the perfect from my heart to your office greetings! Followed with a lovely...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
2010/12 You Are Fired!
I love you Andrew....
Thanks DCAlleyKat! That's perfect! I'm sure they'll love their Christmas cards! LOL!
ReplyDeleteTheir Christmas cards are going out today!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty much in Lawhawk's camp on this one. While I despise the Democrats who seem to be in power (e.g. the S.D.S. Black Panther wing of the party) there are Democrats who (at least I suspect) are basically aghast at what has taken place.
ReplyDeleteIt almost seems as if these guys woke up one day, realizing that, through an amazing set of circumstances, they had come as close to total power as we have seen since the L.B.J. Great Society days. For quite a while now, we have been a fairly evenly divided nation and this has worked as a sort of check and balance keeping government from tilting too far either left or right. Even though the election of 2008 was clearly a rebuking of the Republican Party, it was certainly not a mandate for these bastards to try and cram every socialist left wing program they had ever envisioned down our throats. There were certainly campaign soundbites to make a pretense of behaving somewhat responsibly given the economic meltdown. These people now remind me of rabid attack dogs.
Sorry . . . you got me going.
Jed, I think this has been building much longer than just this election. I started to realize that they weren't being political "in good faith" under Reagan. And it's been getting worse year by year since then. Right now they've only come out fully into the light.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rank and file, I don't know. I wonder why they continue to support party leaders that act this way? I wonder why they don't repudiate the activists who act like terrorists. If they are upset at how their party behaves, they sure aren't showing it.
I don’t do rash or bombastic, and I don’t say extreme things to get a rise out of people.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the double post.
ReplyDelete"I don’t do rash or bombastic, and I don’t say extreme things to get a rise out of people." I do both of those things. I'm a believer in fighting fire with fire.
The left has been employing this tactic and it's been working so why not pick up that weapon and aim it back at them. Don't get me wrong the idea of taking the high road makes sense. I used to believe in it but when you deal with an adversary that can make things up out of whole cloth and have people believe them, then it's time to strike back.
The left isn't even trying to come up with good lies any more they are simply saying "no that's not what happened" or worse yet just ignoring the charge. Somehow this actually works for them. That should be the most terrifying part that Americans until recently would just go along with them.
Not to mention the LSM being complicit in propaganda.
They take our tax money and use it against us. ACORN and the NEA should never see another penny from the tax payers.
I understand your outrage I just wonder why it took you so long to get there. Perhaps you're just more optimistic than myself.
The Democratic Party is a criminal organization.
The debate is settled.
Skinner,
ReplyDeleteFor years, you had two versions of the party. You had the rotten ones of today and you had a group that seemed more moderate and sensible. But those people have been leaving the party and as the years have passed, the nuts and monsters have slowly crept into all of the leadership positions. And with the recent power they've suddenly been given, even the supposedly good ones suddenly have turned rotten.
Commentarama is a great daily read.
ReplyDeleteIt's all the level headed analysis that makes Commentarama so insightful.
At some point though you've just got to call a spade a spade. The Democrat party has finally shown what their version of Amerika is and America has found it wanton. (To put it mildly and unconstitutional to put it more succinctly)
These are historic times that we live in and now we get to witness a historic backlash against the Democrat Party.
Skinner, I couldn't agree more. I try to evaluate all issues fairly, but that doesn't mean we can't come to conclusions. And on this issue, all the evidence is in and it's not good. There are no redeeming qualities, there are no mitigating circumstances. They have become a rotten party that needs to be treated like a dangerous menace to our nation and opposed on all issues.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for the kind words! We do our best to offer something a little different than you might find in other places.
