The Wit and Wisdom of Joey B.

Not too long ago, the people at National Review came out with a list of 689 reasons to vote against Barack Obama. Impressive, to be sure; but there is a Reason No. 690 I feel should be added to the list. That reason is the guy on the left (so to speak), and the idea that he might spend another four (or more?) years hanging around the White House.

Let's face it, Joe Biden is an idiot. Even the late-night shows, as hands-off as they've often been where The One is concerned, have felt free to make fun of his Number Two. Conservatives will long remember such bouts of excrement from Joe as "This is a big f**kin' deal" and "They gonna put y'all back in chains!" and the dignity (or lack thereof) he has brought to the office of Vice President in general. But this has been a particularly bad week for Biden, regardless of ideology. Let's recap.

VPOTUS kicked things off on Tuesday at a campaign office in Florida, where he was asked by a woman whether he would do more to help people like her kid, who is transgendered. Who knows what she had in mind, maybe more restrictive "hate speech" legislation or something. Biden responded by publicly proclaiming that discrimination against the "T" in LGBT is "the civil rights issue of our time." Er, okay. Personally, I could think of a few others that would rank way ahead of it, but good to know the President of the Senate is on top of these things.

But the week was young. Biden followed this up on Wednesday with more idiocy, saying at a campaign rally, "I'm going to give you the whole load today." No doubt many of a vulgar turn of mind were snickering at that statement (I know I was). Then--still in Florida, mind you--he noted the Cleveland Plain Dealer's endorsement of Obama, citing it as one of the major newspapers "in this state." What? What the f**k? Is he trying to channel those corny rock band greetings or something? Has anyone checked to see if he's been jumping off the campaign bus shouting "Hello Cleveland!!!"

Then, outside of Tampa (I guess weird states attract weird politicians), Joe greeted some customers at a restaurant and had the presence of mind to ask one of them, who I assume didn't look lily-white and all, "Are you Indian?" The customer responded that he was an American, to which Biden said, "No, I mean first generation." ????? Now, based on Biden's prior experiences with Indian-Americans, I know he's not trying to be racist or stereotyping or anything with that comment, but come on. However you feel about, say, Sarah Palin, the collective intelligence of Saturday Night Live couldn't have made her out to be this moronic and unaware, and yet here it is on full display. You know, because we didn't want to risk putting idiots like her and McCain in the White House.

But perhaps the tour de force of buffoonery came later, when Biden decided to defend ObamaCare in one of the scariest ways imaginable. He told a Republican voter over the phone, "After it's all over, when your insurance rates go down then you'll vote for me in 2016." Cue collective gulp from all sane people.

Personally, I think it's a toss-up which is worse: that a guy who's been a part of the federal government for decades is so badly informed about a policy any Internet user can dig up the facts of that he believes insurance will be cheaper, or that--God help us--he's hearing the words "President Joe Biden" in his head. Now of course, Biden hears a lot of things in his head, and the chances of him actually becoming Chief Executive are about the same as those of Andrew becoming president of the Rick Santorum Fan Club. But these screw-ups just illustrate the extent to which the guy who might succeed Obama at any moment is a loose cannon. He can't even be trusted to stay on his own party's message; remember that the campaign had to pull him from the tours after his "chains" comment.

Fortunately, it looks like we may only have to put up with his inanity for a couple more months. Bad news for the comics, of course, since Vice-President Slow Joe will be replaced by a truly intelligent and competent person. But it'll be good for America and for the dignity of the office.

  1. I can't believe Joe actually suggested he would be the nominee in 2016. I don't know if that's a threat or a joke or what, but it made me laugh.

  2. Also, VPOTUS sounds like a disease of the anus.

  3. Stop making fun of Joe. He's doing his job magnificently.

    1. Leftists tend to attract the intellectuals and academics and have traditionally been considered the "smart" set. Obama has got this covered. Joe operates at the Ed Shultz single digit IQ union thug level which is the only non smarty pants white male demographic the Obama administration can attract.

2.The best Presidential assassination insurance since Dick Chaney, but for completely different reasons.

    3. He keeps the Hillary supporters around as they figure beating him in 2016 will be a cake walk.

  4. I really don't think (unfortunately) that idiots like JB will ever go away. Granted, he is one of the most assaninic(sp?)of them all, but for the most part, many are afflicted with the disease. Those that are, like the poor, will always be with us.

I think it is the desire to be seen, and see themselves, as some sort of historic figure on the world stage. Not content with appreciating what they have and where they are in life, they invent in their heads that everyone loves and respects them, and their every utterance is of world-class import. Sad, pathetic little creatures we call politicians.

Granted their are some who are decent, sober and humble....ala Romney, Reagan and the Bushes, but mainly it seems both sides of the aisle have their share of buffoons, with Biden being the poster boy for asininity. He is the chairman of the "Politicians Who Say Stupid Things" club. I really don't think any politico in recent history has such a record of buffoonery under his belt. He is an ass-clown and always will be. He will NEVER be President, even though everyone who has ever got into American politics, from the local dog catcher to Senator, thinks they would be a great President. Biden will always be a joke and the debate solidified his #1 ranking.

  5. An entire article devoted to Joe Biden without one use of the term "asshat"? Heh, not anymore!

  6. T-Rav

No No No Think about it. Romney's competition in 2016 is Joe Biden and AL Gore.

Hey you Democrats... Biden is a genius... No Really!

  7. If it had been up to me, I would have cast "Plugs" Biden as Joey Butafusco in any of the plethora of movies and t.v. shows on that particular subject. Of course, back in the day, he was a Democrat presidential nominee hopeful who had been found guilty of plagiarism; a supposed foreign policy guru who somehow never was able to garner more than about 3% of the votes in any of the Democrat primaries. Hell, even Tim Pawlenty got more than that.

Still, after the "put y'all back 'n chains" comment, I am no longer amused. Thanks for the article RAV

  8. First - Our office opened back up today!! yey...AND I saw a rolling street cart with a giant sombero...I think it was the Giant Taco in disguise...

Nice, T-Rav! The two most horrifying words in the English language to me are "President Biden"! When I heard him say "After it's all over, when your insurance rates go down then you'll vote for me in 2016." it actually made me physically ill. He is THAT deluded...who knew?

  9. DUQ, VPOTUS is a disease of the anus, as a matter of fact. It makes you talk out of it.

Given that it's Biden, I think he must really believe he'll be the nominee in 2016. Granted, the only way that would happen is if Hillary, Andrew Cuomo, Cory Booker, Julian Castro, and every Democratic official down to precinct captain were collectively struck by lightning; but he's never been one to conform to reality, has he?

  10. Good points, K. I guess we should add a number 4: Unless you're really paying attention to him, it's hard to take him seriously, for good or ill. "Just Joe bein' Joe." Not that a Republican would ever receive such a pass.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Patriot, I don't think "assaninic" is a word, but we'll take it. Maybe Bev will include it in her Commentarama-nary. :-)

You're right, we'll never be rid of such people, because that's just the way things are. All we can do is try to keep them out of office or get rid of them as soon as possible, and maybe we're about to do that. But it is extremely frustrating.

Watch what you say about the Bushes. Mr. Price will not be pleased to read such a complimentary remark.

  12. Don't look too far down your nose at the idea of a "Prezydent Joey." After all, this is the same party that brought us Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

    ReplyDelete
  13. tryanmax, I try to be polite. Such terms should not be expressed by a nice young man like myself. ;-) Glad you could take care of the vulgarity.

  14. Indi, "Biden/Gore 2016"--now there's a punchline without a joke if I ever heard one!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jed, Biden was a lot more amusing before he was placed a heartbeat away from the presidency. Now he's....alarming, more than anything.

He would have been far more useful as an actor or, I don't know, a model for dentures, or something.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That this clown is a heartbeat away from the presidency should scare everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have to agree with K, Biden is the perfect assassination insurance... even crazy people wouldn't want him running the country!

    Nice article T-Rav! :)

  18. P.S. They turned down my request to become the President of the Rick Santorum Fan Club. They said I lacked "the right amount of self-righteous stupidity." I felt sad.

  19. on the other hand, one of the greatest punchlines WITH a joke goes back to Carson and McMahon doing their best Karnac the Magnificent schtick.

McMahon: The answer is, Kennedy, Nixon, and Johnson-- and the question oh magnificent one?"

Karnac (Carson): "The question is-- name two presidents and a floor wax!"

    Bada-boom, bada-bing!!

  20. VPOTUS is a transitory disease.
Every 4-8 years there is a possibility of it flaring up - otherwise VPOTUS is simply a fail-safe, in case of emergency break glass, sensible contributor to the matters of State.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Writer X, Call me a cynic or an optimist, but I'm sure our government has plans to never let Biden take office. They probably even have an Obama body double ready to take office... wouldn't you?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Bev! Let us know if any of your condiment traps snare the Giant Taco!

I imagine the idea of Biden being President makes a lot of people physically ill. Namely, everyone smarter than he is. Plus, the guy's going to be like 73 years old in 2016. I know that's not as big a deal as it used to be, but really?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks, tryanmax. That thought makes me feel a LOT better. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  24. Writer X, I didn't think there was a scarier thought than Obama being President for four more years. Clearly I was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  25. assaninic adj 1. Joe Biden

Probably don't need more than that, right?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Andrew!

Were you lacking in self-righteousness, or stupidity?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ah, Karnac the Magnificent. That's a great skit.

My only question is, who were the presidents and who was the floor wax? I would say Johnson for the latter, but given how Nixon looked on TV, I don't know....

    ReplyDelete
  28. rla, interesting that you should say "flare-up." Sounds like something that could be treated with the right medication. Or maybe I'm confusing VPOTUS with VD. Not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Add this to the list -Biden today on the campaign trail -

"There's never been a day in the last four years I've been proud to be his vice president."

Hey, at least he is honest!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bev, That's hilarious! But you know what really ticks me off about all of this?

The MSM/left covers for him. He says this stuff and worse all the time and yet they call him "a foreign policy genius" and "statesmanlike" whereas he's really a low-grade moron. But then any Republicans misspeaks in any way and they get labeled an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm sure this has probably been seen by now, but here's his latest gaffe (or Freudian slip?):

"There's Never Been A Day In The Last Four Years I've Been Proud To Be His Vice President"

Also, off-topic, and keeping with your recent electoral college analysis, you might be interested to hear Bill Cunningham's analysis on Hannity yesterday on why Romney will win Ohio.

    ReplyDelete
  32. In other words, Andrew is lacking in asshattery.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, I tested low in asshattery, but I made up for it in precociousness. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Pitts, Thanks for the link. That was mentioned last night, but we didn't have a link!

    Yeah, Biden's a real doozy, isn't he?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Andrew: I don't normally listen to Hannity but happened to hear that segment in the car yesterday, and I thought it was good enough that maybe someone had put it on YouTube. They did!

Also, another quick report from PA. The ads for Romney are now playing on the radio all day long. The Romney campaign, the RNC and some superpacs are all running ads.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Maybe it's some kind of distress code for "Help me! I'm being held by Obama in an underground bunker and he only lets me out to campaign! Save me!"

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bev, I doubt there's been a day in the past four years Obama's been proud to have Biden as VP, so fair's fair.

    ReplyDelete
  38. And to his cry for help, I say, "No."

    ReplyDelete
  39. Andrew, that's the really annoying thing. As you'll notice with the links above, Biden has repeatedly said things that could be called old-fashioned racism by a lot of standards. But does anyone say boo about it? Of course not. But one stupid comment from Todd Akin or anyone else, and it's a GOP declaration of War on Women, etc. Unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pitts, Ohio's going to be running me to distraction all the way through Tuesday, but I am increasingly hopeful that the momentum towards Romney in early voting, plus the extent to which he seems to be winning independents, will carry the state in the end. Look for the results from Cleveland and Cincinnati, plus the margins in the SE coal counties.

As an aside, the New York Times just now has an article out saying that Pennsylvania is "tilting" in Romney's direction. If they're saying that, I wonder what's actually going on in that area.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Andrew and tryanmax, it's remarkable how often those two qualities overlap. Trust me, I speak from experience on this, as many family and friends will tell you. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bev and rla, I have to say "no" to his call for help as well. Generally, it's not a good thing to let such folks as him off their leashes. There's no telling what they could get into. Maybe a little exercise for sunshine and leg-stretching once in a while, but that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I can tell you some of the things he'd get into: sniffing around in -ummm- inappropriate places, rolling around in his and others' crap, chasing his tail, growling at random people, snapping at squirrels...

    ReplyDelete
  44. rla: (snicker)

Word is they've already run the rabies test on ol' Joe, but the results won't come back until Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Good one T-Rav! Maybe, one day in the future, someone will make a stupid comment, and the reply will be, "That sure sounds 'Bidenesque' to me".

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jen, or "Boy, I made a real Biden out of myself there, didn't I?" :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. This isn't strictly Biden related, but for what it is worth . . . I don't know what people think of Michael Barone, however I always found him to be pretty credible in his election analysis. He has admittedly "gone out on a limb" but is calling the election for Romney with over 300 electoral votes. I sure hope so.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Jed, Barone impresses the heck out of me with his insight and his knowledge of minutia. I suspect around 300 electoral votes is about right. That's the swing states plus two surprise states basically.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jed, I hear a lot of people saying Barone is a pretty cautious guy with encyclopedic voting knowledge, so if he's going to make a prediction like this, it's certainly a credible one. It would include Pennsylvania, for instance; and reportedly there's a poll out showing Romney up by four. Fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  50. T-Rav, That's the best way to describe Barone -- cautious guy with encyclopedic voting knowledge. I've never known him to be rash or to just guess without a truly solid reason. He can be wrong, obviously, but he never speaks without a solid reason.

    ReplyDelete
  51. T-Rav, I like that one too! Maybe one of them will stick. It would sure be nice to make Biden synonymous with 'stupid' . :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jen, that would serve as a nice little commentary on the Obama years, wouldn't it? The same way "Obama" might become synonymous with....well, this is a family blog so I can't say.
