Commentarama Endorses!

With the election coming up in only 19 months, I think we've seen enough to endorse a candidate for 2015. In fact, we're going to endorse an entire ticket! Woot woot!

The candidates we have chosen have really proven to me that they stand head and shoulders about the rest. These people have amazing experience, verbal accuity and they are shameless a sh*t, which is important if we're going to deal with a world of thugs and punks running third-rate countries. These people have shown that they know how to answer the phone at 3:00 AM and shoot through that door with a shotgun to end whatever threat we face. Domestically, they have shown they know how to make money too, either by shaking down foreigners or just separating fools from their money.

What more could we want?

So without further ado, here is the ticket Commentarama endorses:
President Joe Biden
Vice President Ted Cruz
Sure, they're from different parties, but this is the DREAM TEAM of modern politics! Thoughts?

P.S. April Fools

  1. No, not a bad idea. Cruz tickles Biden to an accidental death by heart attack, takes over the nuclear launch codes and the Strangelove Scenario hangs like a cloak over the planet.

  2. LL, The question is though, would the world last long enough for Biden to die? I could see him mistaking "the football" for his cell phone. Yikes!

  3. How about this: A first term Senator for Prez and a long term senator for VP to give the Prez "gravitas?" Sound familiar?

    So....Cruz-McConnell; Rubio-Hatch; Obama-Biden

Or, a successful governor and a Washington insider?

    So...Walker-Patreaus; Bush-Powell; Reagan-Bush

How about a small state Governor and a political family name?

    So...Jindal-Cheney(Liz); Huckabee-Bush(George-TX); Clinton-Gore

Or, the best of all possible worlds: Rice-Palin (For the win!)

    Bob

  6. tryanmax... if that is your real name, If I were conspiratorial, I would say that April Fool's is meant to teach the public to accept being lied to by those in authority and smile about it. Hence, it teaches socialism!!!!

Not sayin' it's true, just suggesting it very loudly.

  8. I am all for another Obama/Biden ticket. Come on it's been fun so far, hasn't it? And no telling what wondrously wonderful wonders they could come up with including a guaranteed global thermo-nuclear war!

  9. Bravo for the "thermo-" prefix, BfNYC, which sadly gets far too much under-use since the 80s.

    Red Dawn/War Games in 2016!!!

  10. EricP - I am a child of the "Cold War", duck & cover drills and "nuclear-safe" schools...;-(

I figure that if we just go ahead and HAVE a thermo-nuclear war, we will no longer have to waste time on needless worry and/or fear-mongering, right?

  11. Bev, I'd like to see Hillary/Obama, just to see how Obama handles Hillary's revenge. Something tells me he would probably shoot her before the first week was over.

  12. Eric, It's got to be thermo-nuclear, because just nuclear war sounds pretty dull. It's the thermo that... well, provides the heat. ;-)

  13. Stories like this push me in a different direction than you on the topic of the RFRA.

A family that owns a pizza store is asked whether or not they would cater to a gay couple for their wedding (why would anyone use pizza for their wedding?) they said no on the basis of their religious beliefs, but they would serve gay couples.

What came next? Trolls posted phony bad reviews on their Yelp site and, more disturbingly, a storm of death threats was sent at them. One local high school coach jokes about burning the store down.

They are now closing it in response, possibly permanently.

This isn't "fighting for equality," this is a witch-hunt.

  17. Four more years of Obama… my mind went blank. Can't imagine it, don't really want to.

Really, after seeing what Obama has wrought in the past 6 years I don't want to imagine what he would do with another 6!

  18. Kit, A couple responses....

First, I won't defend these people. I have no use for those people as they violate the minimum requirements to be members of a civil society and I think they should be civilly and criminally liable for slander/liable and harassment. They should do time for all threats and be forced to pay over money damages to the victims as reparations.

That said, I separate out the asshole activists from what the law should be. We should never base our laws and policies on how much we like advocates. If that was the case, then society would collapse because it would become the majority just voting away the minority.

And you definitely should not judge a cause by its asshole faction. Should we just Christianity from the occasional guys who kill gays or the Westborough Baptists? Do we judge the military by the handful of rapists in their midsts? Activist love to play that game, but the public doesn't.

Third, let me suggest that the people who brought this up are just as guilty of stirring the nest. That is the problem with these issues: they are fought by obsessed nutjobs who want to force everyone else into the debate because they think the public will suddenly admit that the are with the nutjobs, and neither side cares about the damage they cause.

Also, both sides are guilty of the same conduct. Both sides are stacked with crazies who send death threats and try to arrange boycotts and slander their opponents. Both sides hope to provoke the other side into doing something stupid that will then confirm to them that they are morally right.

Smart people duck out of this crap.
