Within 24 hours I will be posting a bit on the Panama Papers scandal so hold up on that one.
ReplyDeleteTrying to come up with something positive for once... I ended up looking into Larry Correia's Grimnoir Chronicles before Monster Hunter and I'm pretty impressed so far! Nice use of alternate history and it's nice to see subtle conservatarian perspectives in a good book instead of liberal sucker punches. The Monster Hunter series is definitely next on the list once I finish Grimnoir!

Commercial success has proven elusive for a rapper named Azelia Banks despite the fact she is sufficiently pretty/desperate to have been featured in Playboy, but she has been a star on the conservative news circuit for some time now because of her tendency to make insane tweets.
ReplyDeleteNot too long ago the Bigs was praising her as an example of how Trump connected with black voters. It was a very odd endorsement. Azelia literally stated America is a horrible place and Trump is a horrible person, so they deserve each other. Stacey Dash must have said something even nuttier which caused the Bigs to ignore her as exhibit A for why blacks will flock towards Trump :) .
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/13/black-rapper-azealia-banks-shows-how-trumps-message-resonates-with-black-voters/
The Bigs knew Banks was rabidly anti-American and anti-white, but she said she would vote for Trump (though its likely she didn't meant it) so she was briefly A-OK!
Then Azelia Banks shocked the Bigs (and no one else) by saying Sarah Palin should be gang raped by black men. Azelia Banks and the Klan not only agree on who the best President would be, they agree that nothing is more degrading than sex with black men.
This did not go over as well with the Bigs as Azelia's professed Trump support. The comments sections of the Bigs are both massive and fascinating to read in the same way watching a car wreck is fascinating.
Sarah Palin is threatening a lawsuit. I hope she wins, though I'm not sure Azelia Banks has much money. Success as a rapper has proven elusive for her because A) Nicki Minaj has the female sex rapper niche on lockdown and B) Banks has very little talent.

Clinton continues to make the case for her being the most inept mainstream presidential candidate in recent history.
ReplyDeletehttp://freebeacon.com/issues/hillary-clinton-pro-life-abortion-person/
Hillary Clinton sparked backlash among pro-life and pro-abortion advocates this past weekend after she identified the unborn as a “person.”
Clinton told MSNBC’s Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd Sunday that “the unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights” during an interview discussing abortion restrictions.
“That doesn’t mean that we don’t do everything we possibly can, in the vast majority of instances to, you know, help a mother who is carrying a child and wants to make sure that child will be healthy, to have appropriate medical support,” Clinton added.
Clinton also advocated “reasonable” restrictions on abortion during the third trimester of pregnancy.
More proof that the Bigs are only chasing the clix w/o actually looking into what they report on. Glad Andrew isn't alive to see it.
ReplyDeleteOn Azelia Banks, I have to agree that she's very boring. A rapper's success is a direct result of his or her unique voice. By unique, I mean a number of things, not limited to: timbre, rhythm, flow, rhymes, lyric structure, message. A rapper need not be unique in every area, but the more boxes he/she can check, the better. Banks checks approximately none.
I don't think Nicki Minaj necessarily has the female rapper thing on lockdown[*] it's just she's the most unique female rapper right now, but all she really has is a distinct vocal timbre and a bouncy signature style. But she's *yawn* compared to the likes of classic acts like Latifa, Eve, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Salt-n-Pepa, just to name a few greats.
[*I will say, though, that we do seem to be in a silly phase where "there can be only one" of certain identity classes in particular roles. Maybe that's what white male privilege is, the ability to be something without having to be the only one of it.]
Tryanmax,
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind I said female sex rapper. There only ever seems to be one floating around at a time (IMHO Nicki Minaj's immediate predecessor was Foxy Brown). I'm not saying no one has success in that arena, but competitors tend to be one hit wonders if that. Not sure why that is.
I don't think Nicki Minaj is the best in the game, but she's not bad and her tendency to appear in songs that become party anthems means she knows what people like (which is an important skill for a commercial artist).
I agree there are/have been a lot of skilled female rappers out there (I agree with everyone you named). I'm kind of amazed that Jean Grae never took off.
A woman recorded her doctor making snarky comments about her during surgery. She is planning to sue for emotional distress.
ReplyDeleteIts odd that the doctor would do that, its also odd that one can sue for it and win (there is a precedent).
I thought my doctor had a problem with me, I would change doctors, but I am a cautious sort who avoids trouble rather than throwing myself into its teeth.
I suspect doctors are going to start surreptitiously checking patients for recording devices...
http://lawnewz.com/video/report-woman-recorded-surgeon-talking-smack-about-her-during-operation/
This story might make you paranoid in your next visit to the doctor. Ethel Easter says she recorded her surgeon and other hospital employees talking smack about her during her operation at Harris Healthcare in Houston, Texas. The audio allegedly caught them making fun of her looks, including (of all things) her belly button.
“I was appalled,” she told Good Morning America in a Thursday report. “I was distraught. I was violated.”
------------
She is considering a lawsuit. Seems like a viable thing to do since there’s precedent for her to collect damages. A man accidentally left his iPhone recording during a colonoscopy, and caught the anesthesiologist saying she’d like to punch him, and joking that he had syphilis. A jury awarded him $500,000 in 2015.
Ah! I guess I read past the word "sex." In that case, I think the market can only ever handle one at a time, which was proven when Foxy and Lil Kim tried to simultaneously occupy that space.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's here... the first teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
(Though whoever did the sound design for the second half should be fired.)
The Guardian has a long piece [LINK] on how consensus science worked to blame fat and cholesterol for the ills of a diet too high in sugar, not to protect any industry, but rather to protect the reputations of the high-profile scientists pushing the flawed theory. And people wonder how anyone can be skeptical of the consensus in climate science?
ReplyDeleteScott, what is that awful noise? Is that the tauntaun mating call on a loop?
ReplyDeletetryanmax, That's totally different! That guy was wrong, but we KNOW that we're right about climate science because all the good people agree. ;-)
ReplyDeleteDaniel, I've enjoyed his work a lot!

ReplyDeleteIt's obviously a klaxon, though some fans are wondering, "Why is Jar Jar Binks on the soundtrack?" :-)
And here's the thing: you have the red pill assholes complaining about another female lead, but you have the SJWs applauding but complaining that the lead is white.
You can't win. No one can. And to any aspiring filmmaker out there, all I can say is "MAKE THE MOVIE YOU WANT TO MAKE AND IGNORE THE HATERS!"
Hey, everybody! I have been swamped today...
ReplyDeleteJust one question, how does one record while being operated on? And if I could actually sue my doctors and dentists for "emotional distress", I would be a bagillionaire...
Did anyone read about how the CA DOJ storm-troopered the guy who made the Planned Parenthood videos exposing baby-parts selling and Kamala Harris, California AG (also running for Senate and financial supporter of PP) ordered the storm-troopering...

Hillary is pandering again, just like she did in 2008 when things started falling apart for her. When she came to St Louis during her run in 2008, the first words out of her lying mouth were, "Who do you trust more to help you keep your guns?"...like those twits could take them in the first place...and what's with Old Bill and his backhanding Obama? Shoot, he even went after BLM...
ReplyDeleteCritch,
ReplyDeleteI know why he did it. My guess is they know they have this thing sewn up and are aiming for the general. Bill unloaded on the BLM protestors as a way of making the Clintons more palatable to those Republicans who are deeply unhappy with Donald Trump and thinking of maybe voting for Hillary.
Bit of a delay due to internet issues.
ReplyDeleteBill going after BLM was politically savvy (the first such move I've seen from him in years). They are high profile but at this stage their support is pretty low both because they are unable to differentiate between good and bad cases (they have attacked a lot of clean shoots) and because the system has moved to address some of its problems.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think they are taking a play out of Trump's handbook. Say something incendiary to keep Hillary in the newscycle (cue: "But that's not what I meant" pander) and to deflect from her "unborn persons" blunder that sent the Pro-abortion feminists and Planned Parenthood into a tail-spin.
ReplyDeleteBev,
ReplyDeleteTrue, this is probably meant in part to distract from Hillary's blundering, but this is also classic triangulation aka a 'Sista Soulja' moment.
It will be interesting to see if the Clinton campaign walks back the remarks or let's them stand.
Did you hear about the New York man who was arrested for threatening to kill Obama, the Clintons, Trump and Cruz? I notice a couple names missing from that list. Reportedly he said he wanted to "see the world burn." But I sense that is a misquote. Kasich doesn't attract the attention of crazies, let alone their support. So I'm left to conclude that what the man really said was he wanted the world to "feel the Bern." /snark
ReplyDeleteit strikes me as strange that the media is concentrating on how screwed up the GOP race is, but neglect to mention that Bernie is getting a right Royal Rogering from the DNC..no matter how well he does, she seems to get the delegates..
