The DNC opened their convention with a WikiLeaks email dump that confirmed how the DNC stacked the deck in Hillary's favor, the DNC Chair resigning because she was revealed to be ethically challenged and was then hired for Hillary's campaign, and the Sanders supporters boo-ing everytime someone said "Hillary Clinton" even during the opening prayer. Oh, and the Russians are everywhere trying to interfere with the elections. Fun times, fun times.
The good news is that the Dems don't seem to be any more together or cohesive than the Republicans. They have their own "Never Hillary" faction who boo-ed when Bernie pleaded with his followers to "Vote For Hillary". The irony didn't escape anyone who has been paying attention. Cruz gets boo-ed for "Vote Your Conscience" and not specifically endorsing Trump and Bernie gets boo-ed for endorsing Hillary. Politics truly does have strange bedfellows.
But it's early. We still have to go through the endless parade of celebrities, illegal...er "undocumented workers", and BLM supporters who will have their say. Oddly, Hillary complained about that is was "so sad" that the Republicans spent so much time talking about her during their convention. She promises to be civil because, as presumptive VP nominee Tim Kaine explained, the Dems gave up name-calling when they were in the 5th Grade. Yeah...
Let's discuss.

I think it's funny that the left is poking fun at Trump's symbol when Hillary's symbol is just as awful.
ReplyDeleteBasically, you have an H penetrated by a red arrow from the left which points the way forward to the right. Nice.
Now she should impale the K on it, or maybe trample the K beneath the H.
Hillary needs to adopt the Heckler and Koch (firearms company) logo...
ReplyDeleteI saw a bit of Hillary's speech to the VFW yesterday. She isn't much of a public speaker and doesn't connect well with audiences (or to be fair, that particular audience). Lots of pauses for applause that came only lightly and grudgingly so that she would move on.
ReplyDeleteAmusing National Review review of a Hillary Clinton book aimed at kids. I remember Barack Obama had a couple children's books. Wonder if that is a recent trend or an old one?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, its a hilarious review. Below are a few excerpts.
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/438308/hillary-clinton-childrens-book-biography-ignores-facts
When our story begins, “in the 1950s, it was a man’s world. Only boys could grow up to have powerful jobs. Only boys had no ceilings on their dreams.” The accompanying illustration holds up Jackie Robinson as the beneficiary of patriarchal privilege, which is surely a historical first:
----------------
After Bill Clinton’s election, protests against Hillarycare appear, and credit Pham; the crowd protesting, to use a Clinton-era phrase, “looks like America.” But then Martell steps in. “Hillary led a task force on health care so that all Americans could afford to see a doctor,” she writes. “Some people hated Hillary and her new ideas.” A child might wonder why all these people don’t want everyone to be able to see doctors. Why, it’s almost as if those nasty Republicans would rather Americans die in the street!
Of course no children’s book is going to address the Lewinsky scandal. But once you remove it from the story, you end up with an odd, sudden turn in Clinton’s motivations and goals: “At the end of Bill’s term, Hillary finally got the chance to run for office herself, to become a U.S. senator from New York.”
I wonder if, in some states, that Hildebeast logo on a bumper sticker could be a legal substitution for drivers either politically unwilling, or just too lazy, (or both) to signal a right turn.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone but me connected that "Philly" is sexist and misogynist slang for "woman", as in "well, now, that there's pretty little filly over there" said in just about every Western ever written....
ReplyDeleteAll the more reason for me to go back to reading Shakespeare.
ReplyDeleteKit - Why Shakespeare when you can have the live/on-stage version of "Game of Thrones"?
ReplyDeleteAnthony, Hillary's ads out here completely re-write history. She basically passed Hillary care (which never passed), she negotiated the peace settlement between Israel and their neighbors (who have no peace settlement), and she worked to stop the trafficking of young women (which continues unabated... some to Bill's house even).
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, none of it make sense to people who've heard it because they ask, "Why did they need Obamacare then?" "Why are they still fighting?" and "Who says that stopped?"
Rustbelt, It looks like it should be the updated Howard Johnson logo.
ReplyDelete... or a Hospital sign.
ReplyDeleteBev, That's funny. Of course, no one has ever called Hillary a Philly. Perhaps a nag or a mudder, but not a Philly.
ReplyDelete... unless they mean she's shaped like a cheese steak from a city where football fans threw batteries at Santa Claus and laughed at an injured player.
I get it, in a room full of graphic designers, you can't toss an Xacto knife without putting a Democrat's eye out. (Which is why I recommend doing so.) Still, isn't it just a little obnoxious that every time a politician introduces a logo, there have to be a spate of articles fawning over the latest Democrat-inspired turd or blitzing whatever somnolent the Republicans produce?
ReplyDeleteWe all recognize that Obama nailed it with his branding, whereas Republicans haven't had a huge hit since "I Like Ike." (Back then it was about the slogan, now it's about the logo.) But one great performance doesn't make a virtuoso and it certainly doesn't justify scrounging for the hidden genius within the insipid. Hillary's "H" to Obama's "O" is like Lou Bega's follow up to "Mambo No. 5." What was that song called? That's right, nobody knows.
And another thing: "The T is penetrating the P" is the best the detractors could come up with? Weak sauce! I mean, the Trump/Pence logo is a case study in poor form and imbalance, even for politics the flag motif is tired, and the link to toilet paper is unavoidable, but it takes some real work (or depravity) to see a sex type thing going on.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but notice a lot of "verified" badges belonging to the Twitter pilers-on who found sexual innuendo in the logo. Funny how when someone associated with the left gets bombarded online, it comes from average people--I'm sorry, trolls--but when someone on the right gets it, it comes from the cognizati.
tryanmax, That's all the left has left... desperately trying to find fault with logos.
ReplyDeleteI agree too that it takes a pretty perverted mind to find the T penetrating the P. Interesting that those same perverts don't see the penis hanging out the center of the H, which strikes me as much more obvious if you're looking for something.
BTW, in terms of success, let me suggest that Bush's "W" was as successful as Obama. Obama's symbol is recognizable as his, but Bush redefined himself as "W".
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it became such a strong association that Democrats even ripped the W's off the typewriters in the White House when they left.
Interestingly, Hillary's camp has been trying to put out the story that Putin is behind the email leaks from Wikileaks (as if it matters).
ReplyDeleteThey were asked for evidence and finally had to admit they had none. They claimed it was something they saw on television: "we're going off what the reporting is telling us."
Whoops.
Worse, their security firm was saying in June that it had been confirmed that the Russians had hacked the DNC.
It beats me if it's the Russians (not that that changes anything) but it's interesting that (1) they make this assertion without having evidence to support it and (2) that the media is pushing back this hard on their story.
The whole "Russians Are Coming!!" angle is entertaining. Even Julian Assaunge was asking for proof it was the Ruskies. Hillary et al are so scared of another email drop that they are doing anything to make it go away. The hit on Trump didn't work this time for them.
ReplyDeleteBev, It is entertaining. It seems to be the new full court press defense too... "the Russians leaked it! Ignore what's in it!"
ReplyDeleteYeah, not going to work. DWS resigning proved the truth of those emails to the public. Their source doesn't matter.
And honestly, the whole Putin connection is kind of silly anyways. How could a president be weaker vis-a-vis Putin than Obama has been? Not to mention, Putin isn't exactly Mr. Relevant on the world stage anymore.
Wow, we haven't had any Hillary ads in NY. [We haven't had ANY political ads in NY now that I think about it.] Maybe they are floating trial ad balloons to see how much BS they can get away with with the fly-over voters I will have to seek it out.
ReplyDeleteAnthony, please...please tell me that you are joking about the children's book.
ReplyDeleteOh and Bev, the Clintons/DNC seem genuinely offended and angered that Wikileaks timed this release to hurt Hillary. They really seem to think this is an unfair betrayal.
ReplyDeleteUh... hello. That's politics and the left has been doing it for decades.
I think their anger really shows that they see different rules applying to them and everyone else.
P.S.S. I'm getting sick of hearing every race baiter, feminist whiner and dipshit liberal's speech being described as "powerful" in the media.
Good point on W. He may not have had an icon-friendly logo based on it, but he is unquestionably the beginning of this alphabet politician trend.
ReplyDeleteBev, Hillary is running ads in Iowa, a state that should be in the bag for her but isn't. I gather they are the same ones she's running in all the battlegrounds, for example, Colorado. (I can't get over it.) The ads say that Hillary does everything she does for the kids. I guess that's why she only had one of her own and didn't even bake that kid cookies.
ReplyDelete
