I got nothing tonight, folks. It's been a long weekend doing a rush project for work. I will share some thoughts though.
● The NFL player protests have peaked and now are falling apart. It never became more than a handful of players. Ho hum. The ones who did it are all trying to backtrack now, saying they never meant anything by it and that they only wanted to get people talking and whatnot (though some of the players from Filthadephia are planning something tonight). So put a fork in this.
● Trump has pulled even or ahead in most polls, especially in the battleground states. This doesn't surprise me at all. This election is about Hillary, not Trump, and she's just imploded in the past few weeks -- lies, bad health, lies, weak on terror, lies, illegality, endangering national security, assistants with disloyal husbands and hateful mothers, me-too-ism, and all the wrong friends, Hillary just keeps shooting herself in the foot. With Trump staying out of things, that has given the public time to focus on their disgust with Hillary and the result is she's bleeding voters.
● The black caucus has again disgraced themselves. This time, they attacked Trump for no longer being a birther. So it was racist to be a birther and racist to stop being a birther. Yeah, whatever. They also haven't said a word about Hillary, whose 2008 campaign started the birther movement.
● NASA claimed again that this was the hottest year on record (at least in the short time period they want to count). They must have a macro because they repeat the same crap word for word all the time. The problem is that their own data show this isn't true. It's a good thing private space companies will slowly be removing NASA from the equation.
● I've suspected for some time that the Democrats would win back the Senate, but now I'm not so sure. Over and over, the Democrats are abandoning states they once considered safe. It currently looks like a tie.
● Hollywood had another circle jerk Sunday night. As you would expect, it turned very political. I wonder why they don't realize that their whining actually hurts their cause.
● I'm not into conspiracy theories, but doesn't Hillary's skin look like she's been poisoned with whatever Putin poisoned Viktor Yushchenkho with?
● Terrorism in New York and Minnesota. Hillary blew it by trying to pander to her responsibility-free left. She's a bad candidate. Everyone knows you talk big, even if big talk doesn't change anything. Caution scares people.

I doubt Hillary's appearance in response to the dumpster bomb helped her any. She looked, sounded and acted like she was either roused from a deep sleep (8 o'clock bedtime?) or heavily drugged. Definitely NOT a reassuring image.
ReplyDeleteOn the senate, maybe I overlooked it, but I can't find an example of a time where the majority changed hands in the same election as a first term president and it went against the incoming president's party. (Hope that made sense. It's a hard concept to make succinct.) Put simply, if Trump wins, Republicans are likely to do no worse than hold, based on past cycles.
Clinton denouncing Trump for calling attacks she had just admitted were bombings bombings was hilarious and bizarre.
ReplyDeletehttp://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/296521-cnn-edits-out-clinton-reference-to-nyc-explosion-as
According to an ABC News transcript below, Clinton called the attacks in New York and New Jersey "bombings" before criticizing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump — who also referred to the explosion as a "bomb" — in an attempt to show contrast between the temperament of the two candidates, who are deadlocked in the polls.
Clinton: I’ve been briefed about bombings in New York and New Jersey, and the attacks in Minnesota. Obviously, we need to do everything we can to support our first responders, also to pray for the victims. We have to let this investigation unfold. We’ve been in touch with various officials, including the mayor’s office in New York, to learn what they are discovering as they conduct this investigation. And I’ll have more to say about it when we actually know the facts.
Reporter: Secretary Clinton, do you have any reaction to the fact that Donald Trump, immediately upon taking the stage tonight, called the explosion in New York a “bomb” … ?
Clinton: Well, I think it’s important to know the facts about any incident like this. That’s why it’s critical to support the first responders, the investigators who are looking into it, trying to determine what did happen.
Anthony, it seems as though Hillary totally blew the story the media was planning to run with. Expect more weirdness as she and the press continue to flail. I maintain that Clinton never planned for a competitive race.
ReplyDeleteTrump has hardly stayed out of things. He had that birther news conference (actually a generic press conference in which he dismissed an conspiracy theory he has flogged for years and as recently as early last week in single sentence) and also announced he was going to mandate six weeks of paid maternity leave, which he promised was more than Hillary was offering.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, his plan promises only half of what Hillary's does, so he is going to have to up the ante if he wants to win the bidding war he has started *insert eye roll gif here*.
I agree that the more the press focuses on Hillary, the worse she does since she is a terrible campaigner and clearly believes in nothing, but Trump is incapable of stepping back and letting Hillary destroy her campaign.
Trump's best efforts didn't push Clinton and her many problems out of the headlines in the immediate aftermath of her collapse, but he might succeed down the line. Time will tell.
Tryanmax,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what Clinton planned, but she is an utterly terrible campaigner (and for that matter, politician). If Hillary wasn't married to Bill I don't know where she would be, but it wouldn't be politics.
If she wasn't married to Bill, she would probably be a university administrator and we would be hearing of how she was imposing speech codes on the students and faculty.
ReplyDeleteHer kind has always been with us and we have always been disdainful of them...and her.
Bob
tryanmax, She looked sleepy. Even more to the point, she looked "establishment" and that won't help her in this election, especially as she flip flopped a few minutes later.
ReplyDeleteAnthony, absolutely right that Trump hasn't stayed quiet. In fact, his MO has lately been to frustrate the media's narratives.
ReplyDeleteHis bizarre press conference only offered one sentence of substance. It left the media unable to criticize it without admitting to having been duped. (see: Major Garrett.)
Trump kept the focus on Hillary's health by wishing her a speedy recovery. That's up there with "my opponent's youth and inexperience." He also made a show of releasing his own medical info on the TV show of America's most prominent snake-oil salesman. A match made in heaven (or hell, depending who you ask.)
And Trump made a stop in Flint, MI, which critics characterize as bad for Trump, but in fact was not. Flint was a win/win for Trump before he ever arrived. If the town embraced him, great! Instead, they invited him into their church for a drubbing as he showed deference. "We invited you here to thank us." Seriously? What a brat! Contrary to popular pundit opinion, the "nervous mess" comment doesn't reflect on Trump. It puts focus on the pastor. If you disagree with that assessment, then why were you priming to explain how the pastor was not nervous?
As for Trump's assertion that his half-as-good plan is twice as good as Hillary's, as my father likes to say, the first liar doesn't stand a chance. It's just not good optics to ruffle your papers and say "I had my plan first! Look at it! Look how great it is!" Imagine that in Hillary's voice and try not to wince.
We are one week away from the first debate. I'm considering watching with the sound off, but this year, unlike most prior, I think people will react not only to what they see, but also to what they hear. Oh, no no no. I don't think the American public is ready to listen, let alone digest policy. No, I just think that the candidate's voices are as sharp a contrast as anything else between the two. Trump has a deep, warm tone with just the right amount of rasp. Hillary isn't called "Shrillary" for nothing.
Anthony, I see this a lot lately, where one leftist or another spews a talking point ("we can't call it terrorism until it's no longer possible to pretend it's not terrorism") while simultaneously saying the exact same thing they are criticizing ("I will stop this terrorism!").
ReplyDeleteI think it's just intense cynicism. I think they know that their left flank is flat out stupid and they are trying to keep them calm without seeming like one of them to the public.
Moreover, Obama has made it a requirement on the left that you need to calm the rednecks the moment terrorism happens. Hillary is trying to mimic that.
tryanmax, I maintain that Clinton never planned for a competitive race.
ReplyDeleteI think this is true. Hillary strikes me as someone who thinks that she's obviously so great that her resume enough will win her the job. She doesn't get that personality is what counts and I think that perplexes her.
Patriot,
ReplyDeleteIf she wasn't married to Bill, she would probably be a university administrator and we would be hearing of how she was imposing speech codes on the students and faculty.
I will say honestly that without Bill, Hillary would be nobody. She has little talent and even less personality. That makes for perpetual middle management or government work. I think that without Bill, Hillary would be an angry CASA case worker or a divorce attorney. Access to Bill is what made her.
Anthony and tryanmax, In this election, I think that whichever candidate is in the news the most loses.
ReplyDeletethe other issue with Hillary is that she was really counting on being able to play the "Sexist" card like Obama played the "racist" card. That's not working out so well for her. Every time she or one of her functionaries/supporters plays it, it gets met with
ReplyDelete"No, it's not that we won't vote for a woman. It's that we don't want to vote for THAT woman".
And that's from a lot of other women. That is a big difference. Obama could get away with it for one reason, because he has a high likeabiity quotient.
Andrew, the only problem I have with that assessment is that it's necessarily vague. I mean, I get what you're saying, but it's inscrutable.
ReplyDeleteHow to start a Monday off on a winning note in the wake of the national terror attacks, or, for any lefty trolls in the Commentarama ranks, terror-ish attacks: Wear an Infidel t-shirt to a pharmacy which employs a high percentage of Muslims.
ReplyDeleteClerk: What does that say in the Arabic on your shirt [underneath “Infidel”]? [pull back sport coat to reveal full shirt] “Kaffir.” Oh.
Sensing the fun to be had by piling on after hearing the annoyed tone in her voice, it would have been wrong of me not to follow with, “After the events in New York City and Minnesota, I figured it’s a good thing to let people know who you are.”
[more reserved annoyance] “Of course.”
Jackpot, and, yup, a fun Monday so far!
Democrats can't even say "terrorism" without wetting their pants. DeBlasio, Schumer, Clinton, all of them, idiots to the core....BTW, did ya'll notice that a citizen with a concealed carry license stopped that attack in Minnesota? Yep, the mainstream media ain't gonna mention that.
ReplyDeleteWhile enjoying your blog, I saw this from Huffington Post in the side-bar:
ReplyDeleteIs Colin Kaepernick A Real-Life Captain America?
*another eye roll gif
No, Colin is not Captain America. Even if he had won the Super Bowel, what has Colin done to make America better? When did he do something that put his life at risk to help fellow Americans? His little sit down doesn't even put his pay check at risk but it puts him at risk for hemorrhoids.
Koshcat, That shows you how out of touch the left is... and how unpatriotic. They are opportunists who only celebrate people who attack America and when they do, they are in this tiny 1-3% minority, yet they want to belie e they're in the majority even though somehow the votes never turn out that way.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, Colin has done nothing. He's a whiny child of privilege who is playing around at trying to be a hero.
Critch, It's funny how weak-kneed the Democrats become when it isn't a rich, white, male conservative they are smearing. Then all bets are off.
ReplyDeleteAndrew,
ReplyDeleteYou are a hemorrhoidist! Hemorrphobic!
Bev, I think Hillary was expecting to be swept into office by an army of women who looked up to her resume. The problem is that she's kind of a turd and she's smeared too many women. She's also left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths by trading off her husband's success and by being so utterly dishonest.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yep. I'm hemorrhoidist! LOL! And I'm definitely hemorrophobic! Those things suck.
ReplyDeletetryanmax, It's an odd thought, but it seems to be true. I think it's premised on the idea that Hillary is a train wreck exploding, so she sinks whenever people focus on her. Trump is like a burning dumpster and whenever he jumps before Hillary, everyone looks at the dumpster instead and he goes down.
ReplyDeleteTrump's best moments are "Hey, look at Hillary."
Eric, Non-terror-terrorism is not something to joke about. In fact, nothing is anything to joke about. Humor can be harmful to people who find it harmful. It's not right to offend people who will be offended.
ReplyDeleteOuch... my brain.
"She's also left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths by trading off her husband's success and by being so utterly dishonest."
ReplyDelete-Not as bad of taste as her husband left in some mouths! Ba Dum Tsss
>>It's not right to offend people who will be offended.>>
ReplyDeleteDon't blame me, I'm just a Ranger Up/Unapolgetically American/Grunt Works apparel messenger.
Koshcat, thank you for jumping on that grenade so no one else had to. 😉
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you...I'm here all week. Try the veal.
