More stuff.
● The US has sent troops to Poland to be stationed there. Apparently, three NATO battalions will be stationed there. This is one of those historical moments where I think we can safely say that Poland has become part of Western Europe. Russia claims to be furious, there's nothing they can do about it.
● I'm still laughing about Obama handing out the Medal of Freedom to Joe Biden. Apparently, it was done as a surprise. How exactly can they award a medal with that supposed pedigree and keep it a secret from the recipient? Wasn't there some procedure... some investigation... some vetting? It sounds like either the medal is less meaningful than it suggests or Biden wasn't deserving. I guess they cut some corners. Of course, this is no surprise from President Lazy who got a Nobel Prize for um... uh...being black? anticipatory greatness!
● On that Trump dossier, anyone who is anyone has dismissed it. Now Biden says Obama dismissed it out of hand. The names that keep coming up, however, are John McCain and now Jeb Bush. This is not a good look for either of them and I think it will end poorly for McCain.
● Rosie O'Donnel is calling for "martial law" to stop Trump from taking over. That's right, a leftist is calling for a military-enforced coupe to keep opponents out of power. Now that's old school leftism! Hitler... Stalin... Mao all would be proud! Soon she'll be calling for lebensraum for fat chicks.
● Finally, let's play a little game. GoFundMe has become a great way for liars to make some good cash by exploiting the emotions of stupid people. The way this works is that everyone who claims to have suffered a tragedy or some outrage and needs money opens a GoFundMe page begging for cash. Some are legitimate. Sometimes, it's for the families of dead firefighters or cops or little old ladies who get kicked out of their homes. Probably as often as not however, these people are frauds. One of the biggest groups of frauds tend to be people who claim racial bias or claim to be abandoned children. There was an interesting one a few months back with a teen who claimed he had been abandoned and only wanted to go to college, but this was all a lie. Now there's one with a white chick who claims she needs money to go to college after her racist parents cut her off because she was dating a black guy.
We should have a contest. Come up with the most compelling(or ridiculous) appeal using a dog, racism, college, and illness. Winner gets an invisible t-shirt! Here's my entry:

I need $10,000 for college after my parents stopped paying for it because my dog is dating a gay black dog with a bad hip.Your turn! Go!
I need $5.00 to buy a cup of coffee...see, I'm not greedy, I just need it, but my bank account stopped paying 'cause it hates me. Donate now!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Bev! I had no idea! Why doesn't somebody do something!!
ReplyDeleteI need gas money, approximately $50 since I have to first fill up in California (currently $2.85/gallon), to make the trip to Arizona at the end of the month. I'll be a resident there, first new time-zone in 21 years, and while you'd think John McCain won't be running for office again in 5 years, we know damn well he always finds energy for one more term. Your fifty bucks ensures I (and my wife) will do everything in our power to make sure he isn't sent back to DC yet again.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually rather compelling, EP! Best wishes in the move.
ReplyDeleteWow, so Trump found singers and other celebrities for his inauguration, country singers like Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith who speak directly to the very people who voted for Trump.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was lucky since all those ghetto rappers and realty-TV divas and leftist comedians unknown to Trump's supporters all made a point of turning him down... whether they were invited or not.
It's funny how things work out sometimes, isn't it. So, uh, random. ;-)
Oh, I don't know if this is related or not, but Madonna is going to get her "vagina" tattooed in protest of Trump's election.
ReplyDeleteI guess she's going to tattoo "I hate Trump" right next to the Health Department warnings.
"MVLC, now serving customer ___ (fellatio only upon proof of voting record)."
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that disenfranchise voters to require proof of voting record? ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's been kind of a big deal here in NYC that one of the famous Rockefeller Center Rockettes went very public that she would NOT perform at the Inauguration and couldn't be forced to 'cause she had standards. All the artists, dancers, liberals and oddly her own union were backing her up! All except 'Management" of said Rockettes who were not amused with her public display and the possible fallout. Of course, they said that there were plenty of performers who were begging to be a part of the ceremony.
ReplyDeleteBut the cheering chorus fell into one of those "Whoopsie" moments, whet the backlash turned into talk of bakers, florists, hobby supply stores, and chicken sandwich makers. They forgot that it has been well established now that one can no longer refuse to perform their job or refuse service to anyone regardless of one's personal conscience...
I need $7,000 to pay the vet bill for my mentally ill dog who was attacked by racist college students.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear, poor Madonna. Is she THAT hard up for a date? She certainly does fixate on her genitalia, doesn't she? I'm sure that it has something to do with potty training and aging.
ReplyDeleteAnd I need at least $10,000 to pay the vet bill for my traumatized cat that was attacaked by a mentally ill dog who was attacked by racist college students who were traumatized by Trump or Russia.
ReplyDeleteI just need someone to keep an eye on my place while I'm at work. I leave the TV on DirecTV's Heavy Metal Jacket or 80s New Wave channel for my dog, but the local snowflakes, er, college kids keep breaking into my place, and changing it to MSNBC.
ReplyDeleteAlso, shouldn't a gal with Madonna's, er, experience be visiting a doctor for vag-tightening instead of tattoos?
ReplyDeleteI just had a thought about conservative celebs. They are routinely dismissed as being mediocre for a lot of often contradictory reasons. One reason is that they lack credits, either by number or prestige, but what if this is merely evidence of a blacklist in action?
ReplyDeleteAs for "prestige," that's a can of worms in itself. Sure, Robert Downey Jr. and Dwayne Johnson might lack "serious" roles, but they draw an audience. On the flip side, no one would say that Kelsey Grammer or Gary Sinise aren't masters of their craft despite rarely being headliners. When you get into the world of popular music, well, then it's really just an argument over what one likes better. You can't tell me hip hop represents higher art than country music or vise versa. And, most telling of all, conservative comedians get dismissed as "mere comedians" despite the ranks of comedians being wildly tilted toward the left.
I have a suggestion for Madonna's tattoo:
ReplyDelete"Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here."
In Olde English script, of course.
Tryanmax re: Madonna tattoo...LOL!!!
ReplyDelete>>In Olde English script, of course. >>
ReplyDeletePerfect for a Dee-troit gal -- nicely done!
tryanmax, you're absolutely right about a blacklisting of conservative entertainers, though primarily film/TV. There are certain "untouchables," guys like Sinise, Grammer, Voight, Selleck, and Jerry Bruckheimer, guys who established their bona fides before Hollywood actively started their witch-hunt in the 90s and into the 21st century, but as a former member of Friends of Abe, the worst kept secret in town, I heard tons of stories from people, from the bottom of the ladder through even guys like Adam Sandler being bullied by Hollywood fascists. Punk-ass Sean Penn went after an FOA member, too, with such a furor (he is Sean Penn) the member had to deny his being in the group. The irony no doubt lost on Arthur Penn's middle son.
ReplyDeleteNow to the matter of making better product than the "preaching to the choir" pablum the likes of Kirk Cameron produce, it's nice to see guys like Peter Berg and Christopher Nolan continue to crank out movies with conservative and even downright patriotic movies, even though I've never heard either espouse right-leaning sympathies, Berg even going so far as to blast Mitt Romney for adopting "clear eyes, full heart, can't lose" in '12. I mean, disregard it came from his cousin's Friday Night Lights book first, but still, Petey likely just making sure he kept getting invites to the swanky LA parties.
1. Good, glad to hear it. Poland definitely got the shaft throughout the Obama years so it's nice to see them finally joining the family, so to speak.
ReplyDelete2. Yeah, that struck a lot of people as being ridiculous, though the picture from Obama putting it on Biden did spawn an entertaining meme or two. I can't really disagree with you on either possibility for why he got it.
3. I heard their names come up, too, and agree that it isn't a good sign. In a way it feels like this should be surprising as much as McCain and Jeb seem to make integrity a thing but at the end of the day they're both politicians from a wing of the Republican Party that's deeply unpopular among its voters. I don't see any future endeavors by Jeb ending well between this and his primary loss and McCain looks like he'll take a hit, too. Now if the Arizona GOP can just find someone who isn't fringe to either knock him off in the primary or step up if he's forced to retire over this... Apparently that's been one of the biggest obstacles to getting rid of him.
4. No surprise on this one. The fringe left, particularly the largely irrelevant kind, always try to say the dumbest things to get attention.
5. I've heard of a lot of those fraudulent GoFundMes as well, though GoFundMe as a whole is waning in popularity down here due to the percentage of money they take for providing the service. Not that finding a good alternative is any easier, of course, but people are recognizing the pitfalls. I'm going to have to give my entry some thought, though...
...Wait, Madonna's doing what for what?! *Runs off to the bathroom to vomit* Ugh, and I just had my favorite sandwich while I was out today, too, and there's no brain bleach in the... That's it! I need $10,000 to buy enough brain bleach to purge those memories and for compensation for my lost lunch!
- Daniel
I need $10,000 to remove a tattoo.
ReplyDeletetryanmax wins the thread with his tattoo suggestion!
ReplyDeleteBev, The Rockette thing is interesting because they make a living in uniformity and getting middle America to come watch them do one thing. This member(s) really risked all of that and could very easily have done mortal damage to the organization.
ReplyDeletetryanmax and EP, I suspect that it is evidence of Hollywood bias. At the very least, it's evidence that conservatives are dismissed as artists despite their resumes and otherwise recognized abilities.
ReplyDeleteThat said, some are second raters beyond a doubt. But there are some quality actors in there who get written off almost as a novelty.
By the way, "Friends of Abe" is the perfect name, given Friends of Dorothy. LOL! Beautiful underlying meanings.
Daniel, On McCain, I don't think this forces him to resign or anything, but I think it will lead to McCain's reputation being strongly besmirched. This could well be the thing that becomes his legacy, especially if Trump ends up being a great president.
ReplyDeleteThe GoFundMe stuff is interesting to me. It shows that there are always people who will fall for a con job.
As an aside, the rich girl who did the black-boyfriend thing is under fire. Not only does her father say that wasn't the reason, but lot of people are saying that supporting her is not how you fight racism when there are people who aren't rich who need help getting to college.
Yeah, brain bleach is needed in this regard. Frankly, I think she'll never do it. This is just meant to bring attention to a sagging star.
No doubt there are several mediocre conservative actors, but considering the vast majority of actors are liberal, that means they have the bulk of mediocrity. They love to compare Meryl Streep to James Woods while conveniently overlooking the likes of Clint Eastwood.
ReplyDeleteSo anyone see Rep. John Lewis has declared that he does not believe that Trump is a legitimate President and he will not be attending the Inauguration. He goes on that the allegations of Rusian influence invalidate Trump's incoming administration. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteIt would be deeply shocking if Lewis was a Trump fan. He's a Civil Rights icon. Heck I'd probably be hard left too if I went through what he went through. That doesn't make him right though.
ReplyDeleteSteve Harvey has expressed support for Trump and plans to work with him though I wonder if he is merely seeking indulgence for the sin of racially charged humor back in the 1990s before he built his nice guy image :) .
The article mentions that Trump seems to have a strategy of reaching out to black celebs (including businessman Robert Johnson) and has had a fair degree of success doing so.
http://radaronline.com/videos/steve-harvey-gets-court-date-racist-rant-lawsuit/
As Radar reported, Cooper is suing his former boss, who is now known for his nice-guy demeanor, claiming he recorded him going on hateful diatribes on a number of occasions.
“I don’t give a s–t about America!” Harvey allegedly bellowed on one shocking tape, Cooper, the owner of the recording, told Radar in November.
On others, Cooper said Harvey urged fans to “spit on white people!” and “Go assault old white women!”
------
Harvey’s court filings alleged that Cooper tried to sell old recordings of the star’s comedy routines, made more than 20 years ago, because of the sensitive material they contained.
“Mr. Cooper has initiated a campaign to essentially extort me, coerce me and embarrass me as I started to build my entertainment career,” wrote Harvey in his own suit.
Anthony, I think the fact that Trump is still talking about helping the inner cities is something blacks should take notice of. It tells me that Trump really is sincere. Most other politicians (including Clinton) would have said it for PR and dropped it by now.
ReplyDeleteThe latest attempt to slow Trump is to suggest that there's something wrong with him talking to these companies. It was fine when Obama did it... heck, it showed how brilliant he was! But now it's vaguely sinister and could violate the media's interpretation of ethics rules they can't name. It might even lead to special treatment when it comes to Trump issuing regulations. Harrumph!
ReplyDeletePathetic.
Bev, it's a pretty standard notion among leftists that allegations are all you need to prove a case.
ReplyDeleteObama has put an end to wet foot, dry foot. Just reading this. Reaction seems to be muted outside of the usual suspects.
ReplyDeleteTrump has been on both sides of the issue so there is a difference of opinion about which way he will jump.
--------
Obama’s deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes told reporters that a continued uptick of Cuban migrants coming in recent years was part of the motivation behind the change. He added that the discussions had to be kept secret so that a large flow of migrants wouldn’t come before the repeal.
President-elect Donald Trump is likely to be supportive of the decision. Last year he said that the wet foot, dry foot policy is wrong.

The latest change comes as President-elect Donald Trump has indicated his unhappiness with increased Cuba ties and has threatened to reverse normalization. “If Cuba is unwilling to make a better deal for the Cuban people, the Cuban/American people and the U.S. as a whole, I will terminate deal,” Trump tweeted in late November, after the death of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, the current president’s brother.
If he chose to do so after taking office, Trump could order the Department of Homeland Security to reinstitute special treatment for Cuban migrants.
Lawmakers long opposed to the new relationship with Cuba expressed displeasure at the new policy. “Today’s announcement will only serve to tighten the noose the Castro regime continues to have around the neck of its own people,” Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said in a statement
Bev and Tryanmax,
ReplyDeleteRepublicans just made Trump 'I think Cruz's father is a Cuban assassin!' president. Clearly both sides have lots of people that love sensational allegations.
Anthony,
ReplyDeleteIt's the stuff like that, "Cruz's father killed JFK," which is why I don't feel any sympathy for Trump when he complains about being hit with "fake news." He trafficked in it for 2-3 years from Obama's birth certificate to promoting Alex Jones.
Interesting that Democrats want us to take in refugees from 4-5000 miles away but not 90 miles away.
ReplyDeleteAlso, New York Times has a great op-ed out on torture and how it hurt the US government.
LINK
I think it's worth pointing out, as the article does, that Jeff Sessions and James Mattis both oppose torture. The latter famously told Trump that a "pack of cigarettes and a beer" work better than torture.
…why I don't feel any sympathy for Trump when he complains…
ReplyDeleteThe assumption frames the argument. Is Trump complaining? Generally, when I complain that someone is an asshole, I don't do it to their face. To their face, it's something different.
