Happy Thanksgiving To All!

By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation
It has pleased Almighty God to prolong our national life another year, defending us with His guardian care against unfriendly designs from abroad and vouchsafing to us in His mercy many and signal victories over the enemy, who is of our own household. It has also pleased our Heavenly Father to favor as well our citizens in their homes as our soldiers in their camps and our sailors on the rivers and seas with unusual health. He has largely augmented our free population by emancipation and by immigration, while He has opened to us new sources of wealth and has crowned the labor of our workingmen in every department of industry with abundant rewards. Moreover, He has been pleased to animate and inspire our minds and hearts with fortitude, courage, and resolution sufficient for the great trial of civil war into which we have been brought by our adherence as a nation to the cause of freedom and humanity, and to afford to us reasonable hopes of an ultimate and happy deliverance from all our dangers and afflictions:

Now, therefore, I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, do hereby appoint and set apart the last Thursday in November next as a day which I desire to be observed by all my fellow-citizens, wherever they may then be, as a day of thanksgiving and praise to Almighty God, the beneficent Creator and Ruler of the Universe. And I do further recommend to my fellow-citizens aforesaid that on that occasion they do reverently humble themselves in the dust and from thence offer up penitent and fervent prayers and supplications to the Great Disposer of Events for a return of the inestimable blessings of peace, union, and harmony throughout the land which it has pleased Him to assign as a dwelling place for ourselves and for our posterity throughout all generations.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the city of Washington, this 20th day of October, A.D. 1864, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-ninth.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
By the President:

WILLIAM H. SEWARD,
Secretary of State .

  5. Tryanmax - 3 turkeys??? Shouldn't you be in tryptophan-induced coma by now?

  6. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am back from the World of Mouse. I wish I wasn't -- had an amazing time, but finances require it. Disney is not cheap.

Anyways, I'll put up an article as soon as possible. It seems that little has changed in my absence.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! :)

  7. Hey Andrew!! Glad the Mouse's House was the happiest place on Earth...at least for a week.

Btw, Sssshhhhh, Tryanmax is now in a turkey-induced coma, so don't talk too loudly.

  8. So John Conyers denies allegations of sexual misconduct but has resigned his post on the Judiciary Committee, Al Franken is apologising in response to a bunch of additional allegations but is refusing to resign, O'Keefe tried to bail out Moore by getting a woman to lie about having sex with him when she was a minor, Moore's campaign invited some Fox reporters to an event and then threw them a beating and Trump invited some Native American WW2 veterans to an event and then started trolling Elizabeth Warren.

    We live in interesting times.

  9. Andrew; Welcome back. I'm glad you had a good time.
Anthony; You and I don't agree very often but you're right, we do live in interesting times. :)

  10. What? Of course you agree with me all the time! Just kidding. :)

  11. Bev, It really was. Disney has some faults (primarily their lower/middle end food which is a disgrace) but overall it truly is the happiest place on Earth. I wish I was still there!

  12. Anthony, We do live in interesting times. That said, our politics has become a total joke. I've never seen our political class more petty and more divorced from reality than now.

Oh, ya' see, it is only because, thanks to social media, we get to witness this 24/7/365. What they all used to do behind closed doors where we could ignore them and they could hide their stupidity, they are now doing in the full light of the public eye full time. It's really tedious. Someone posted a tweet yesterday wishing we could have those days back where people just posted photos of what they ate everyday...
