I'm Back And Scratching My Head

I'm back folks and let me tell you, it was haaaaaaard getting on that plane. We went to the Sandals (Grand) resort in St. Lucia. It was fantastic. My room had a swim out pool... where I spent all my time. The whole place had an amazing couples vibe, which put everyone in a great mood and made it easy to talk to anyone. The place was beautiful. The people were amazing. The island was gorgeous. I loved it. Very hard to come back -- especially with everyone at our house having the plague when we came back. Oh well.

Anyhoo, here are some thoughts on this crazy world.

● A prominent lawyer has sent himself on fire to protest fossil fuels. Hmm. I'm open to burning lawyers for fuel.

● Art Bell is dead. I guess THEY finally got him. But was it the CIA, NSA, KGB, or ancient astronauts?

● I see the Florida shooting exploiters have vanished from the news. The Pussy Hat March Movement is being accused of transphobia, antisemitism, racism (being for white women only) and now being pro-/anti-hooker. Bad girls. Starbuck's leftist CEO has wet his panties because some low-level employee at one Starbucks called the cops on two black guys for loitering, which of course means the entire chain is racist. I love how the left eats their own.

● Trump blah blah blah wah wah blah wah!!!

● It was so good to be away from our politics. There is quite the circus trying to destroy Trump right now. You have a porn star who accuses him of not a crime. You have a fired FBI director who thinks writing a tell-all book is a good idea and who has admitted that he tried to hurt Hillary to help her. His "shocking" allegation is that the President asked him to disprove a slander being promoted against him. You have a special counsel who seems to be trying to arrest every one of Trump's friends in the desperate hope of proving that Trump may have spoken to a Russian before the elections. Both of the last two relied on FBI employees who set out to destroy Trump and their evidence is mainly from a propaganda folder that is both obviously false and has nothing to do with the fake investigations they are running. In the literary world, this novel gets rejected for being flat out stupid. But this is what our political class has become... whack-jobs.

  1. 1) Protest suicides haven't been much of a thing in the US, but a lot of things that haven't been things in the US are becoming them. Still, I think this is a one off.

    2) Bell's death is inconsequential. Nowadays one can't turn around without tripping over a half dozen conspiracy theorists.

    3) Regarding the Parkland survivors, Advertisers fled Laura Ingraham after her comments but her ratings (unsurprisingly) have held up so others will step into the breach.

    4) Is 'blah blah, wah wah' a direct Trump quote?

    5) A special prosecutor going far beyond his original remit is as predictable as rain on a cloudy day.

    6) A high level former employee going off on Trump happens pretty much every day that ends in 'y' (it helps that Trump makes a new one every week or two). Its fun to watch but it rarely means anything.

Like Bill Clinton, everyone knows Trump is corrupt, a liar and a womanizer, but like Clinton that means charges of corruption, lying and womanizing don't alter who his enemies and friends are.

    7) The Syria strike was surprisingly conventional. While my respect for Trump is low, I doubt the notion that he staged the strike to distract from domestic troubles. That would be like trying to distract a dog from a steak he is in the middle of eating by waving a flower.

    8) Its good that Paul Ryan is retiring. His heart clearly wasn't in Trumpism. If Republicans retain the majority, I'm sure the next speaker will be all in for Trump. That coupled with Trump's renowned skill at making deals (he told us about it in a book, so I'm sure its true) will no doubt translate into a lot of bills being passed.

  2. Anthony, I can't imagine the suicide is anything but a one off. No one is even talking about that issue anymore.

What a sad world in which we live when Art Bell is seen as just one of many. A lot of people need a lot of help.

Not a quote. That's my statement of contempt for the people who are still obsessed with Trump.

  4. Hey Critch, It's a small island close to the equator. Plenty of taxis, but we didn't need them because the resort had everything we wanted.

Yes, you need a passport. It's an independent country, formerly British. So they drive on the left.

  5. I think maybe protest suicides could become the next Tide Pod challenge. One can only hope.

Art Bell was probably a government plant spreading disinformation. He’s probably not even really dead. If he ever was really alive…

Home-made bomb supply store, Ace Hardware, has resumed advertising on the Laura Ingraham show. Also, SNL made fun of her, meaning her share will probably spike. Meanwhile, David Hogg is still not in talks for his own show.

I’m frankly surprised I haven’t seen a slew of think pieces about the racist origins of loitering laws. Or overpriced coffee.

Trump is the most incompetent president ever. Thank goodness there are competent people calling the real shots, by which I neither mean the “deep state” nor am implying that Trump made any good hiring decisions.

I’m beginning to think that Richard Nixon was the last honest man to hold the office of the presidency.

Every person who ever saw Wag the Dog is now perpetually stuck on thinking every new distraction is a just a distraction from the previous distraction.

  6. "Well...other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"
    -Bob Newhart comedy punchline

    That's all I've got.

Well, except this. The gun-grabbing SJWs and David Hogg et al. finally got taken off the front page/headline news when Anthony Borges, the student who took 5 bullets saving countless other students' lives was released from the hospital. Mr. Borges went public making a statement - let's just say the school administration and the Broward County Sheriff Israel and others didn't fair well in his statement.

  8. Bev, It sounds like the Florida kids' 15 minutes is up except for the occasional guest appearance.

  9. tryanmax, Coffee has been racist for a long time because it bankrupts third world shi-- ah, countries. I remember this as far back as sociology in college when my professor told us all about the wonderful Sandinistas he spent the summer picking coffee beans for. White racist corporate devils use coffee to enslave poor brown people. Starbucks clearly is just the whitewashed storefront for that oppression machine.

(Don't try to make sense of it, just accept it.)

On Wag The Dog, people seem to be getting increasingly stupid, and paranoia has become the norm.

  10. Just read about the extremely ‘racist’ arrest of a black Harvard student who was wandering through traffic nude while high on drugs.

Seven people including a woman he threw his clothes at, called 911. The cops tried to talk him down for a while then tackled him and forcibly cuffed him. They are being criticized for not finding a nonviolent way to deal with a crazed drug addict. Cops can’t win with liberals.

  11. Former First Lady Barbara Bush has passed away.

    She was 92.

    R.I.P. and God bless.

  12. She was by all accounts a nice person. I’m sure she’s in a better place but my heart goes out to her family.

  13. I remember her quip when W's two daughters got busted for drinking underage,,,"Well, I guess George is getting some of his own back." Seemed like a sweet, smart, strong lady
