Some Thoughts

● There is this "article" making the rounds on various "news" sites which identifies the ten best horror movies by telling you which horror movies scare people so much that they turn them off halfway through on Netflix. Uh... that's not why people are turning them off. Think about it. If people turned off comedies halfway through, would it be because they are just too funny? Dramas too dramatic? Nope. They're turning them off because they're crap.

● The anti-Trumps are losing their sh*t. CNN ran a story suggesting that Trump is running a child trafficking ring. The left is freaking out that Ivanka posted a sentimental photo of her and her child. How hateful do you need to be to have that upset you? Trump was a fool for promising to visit North Korea and then he was a fool for cancelling the meeting he never should have had. Now that it sounds like it wasn't really cancelled, he's a fool for not cancelling. Then Trump spoke about soldiers on Memorial Day and dared to say that the country is in great shape!!! //breaks down crying... You know what? I hear that if enough liberals kill themselves, Trump will resign. Give it a try.

● Starbucks is closing all day tomorrow so they can admit that their employees are racists. No surprise that this won't satisfy the race hustlers, who call it too little too late. I'm kind of hoping this is just the first domino in an implosion of this vile liberal company and their socialist management.

● I don't particularly like LeBron James, but wow is he an amazing player. This guy single-handedly beat the Celtics.

● Cheering for Vegas in the Stanley Cup, though the opening show was a little too much.

● Chelsea Clinton is acting like being a Trump supporter is a war crime. She would know, since her parents should be in jail for treason.

● Two more fights on planes. Good grief.

  1. BTW, Blogger has stopped informing me of comments, so I may be a little slower responding.

  2. As an aside, I saw that a Congressman from Minnesota is boycotting the NFL over the anthem issue. My first thought was, "F***. Please stop making fools of yourselves attacking the NFL with threats of boycotts!"

Then I learned it was a Democrat. Ha ha! Idiot.

  3. Alien is still one of the best, if not the best horror movie ever made..truly frightening....and original. Flying used to be fun, it's terrible now, might as well ride the bus. Trump is absolutely in control of the situation in NK...read his book...it's a technical manual on how to do things.

  4. Well, if it's not going to be the Penguins, then anyone but the Capitols, please?

  5. Stacy, Neither team is my favorite, but I do like the Vegas story. I cheer for Colorado, the Penguins or the Bruins.

  6. Critch, That's one of my favorites horror films. It's fantastic!

I agree about Trump. He has North Korea dancing like a puppet at the moment.

  7. I’m more of a fan of gothic horror, so at the halfway point things are barely getting started. In that vein, I recommend I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. Fair warning: it’s more of a mood piece with just enough plot to not be an art film. I liked it but it’s not for everyone.

  8. Also, the meltdown on the left has been spectacular. I don’t know if the Dems coming out in support of MS-13 could be topped. Reviving the unaccompanied minors story from 2014 to blame it on Trump is pretty close, tho’!

  9. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a fan of gothic horror too! :)

I just saw that, about the issue that has them upset being from 2014. Typical.

  10. Go, Knights, go! Go, Flower, go!

Oh, for agony on Ovie's face...for Backstrom to break another stick on his way to the locker room...for Holtby to collapse in shame when it ends against him (again)… for Wilson to lie broken in half while everyone calls for the Zamboni to come out and clean up the mess...too much? Well, too bad!

    Go, Knights, go!

  12. 1) Horror movies which promise to be unwatchable (due to extended gore, rape and what have you) is a decades old phenomena. Think I Spit on Your Grave, Saw and Raw. There are a class of people drawn to such movies and some viewers do walk out in disgust.

    2) Whipping up one's audience with lies and conspiracies is just the way the game is played nowadays. From a practical perspective, the important thing is that the Democrats are on the wrong side of the immigration issue politically.

    3) I admire the faith of Trump's people and apparently Trump himself that North Korea will give up their nukes. Most seem unaware of the fact North Korea has played that game (testing and getting the pressure ratcheted up, then pausing and getting the pressure decreased) for decades. Perhaps this time will be different but the recent shenanigans seem very in line with past practice.

    4) Clintons and Trumps saying mean things about each other and their supporters doesn't shock me. Each family is pretty much the same but that similarity probably explains a big chunk of the repulsion.

  13. This doesn't really have anything to do with what we're discussing but since we don't have the film site up anymore and it's the same group, I saw Chappaquiddick yesterday. I recommend it. It was a great character study of Ted Kennedy at that point in his life. It was very balanced and I don't mean that in a milquetoasty way. He came off as somebody you want to have liked but couldn't. There's a great scene where he's on the phone with his dad (Bruce Dern can't do a bad job) and he says "Joseph was the chosen one. Jack was the charming one. Bobby was the brilliant one. What am I? The fat one? The dumb one? The one who got in the most trouble?" By the end of that he's crying and you really feel for him. At the same time the film never lets you forget why he's in this fix. He comes across as a man who wants to do the right thing but is just too weak. It was well done and if you get the chance you should see it.

  14. One thing you can always count on: leftists are cannibals. They love to eat their own.
To be fair, this happens on the right as well, but not nearly as often.

  15. The GOP in our state just worked to get rid of our governor, who was an outsider. I'm furious. From now on I am going to demand the resignation of any official that screws up.

  16. Gypsytiger,

The movie capturing the humanity of a jerk who is famous for personal misdeeds and because he is basically America's version of royalty is an impressive trick. I'll keep an eye out for it.

  17. Roseanne torpedoing her phenomenally popular show through a racist rant filled with conspiracies and lies makes me laugh every time I think of it.

It hurts the supporting cast and crew a lot more than it hurts the wealthy Roseanne but you can't run a show without the star.

Predictably Roseanne is now whining about being a victim. Social media has allowed a lot of people to nuke their careers.

    1. I’m not surprised. She has a long history of this kind of behavior.
