Some Thoughts/Reactions

Some thoughts in a busy week.

● The media is saying that angry Republican men will now play a role in the election just like outraged women will. If that's true, then the left is in trouble. Angry men vote. On the other hand, the past few years have shown us that outraged women don't. #metoo never left Hollywood and media women before it did a desperate retreat into scandal and wishful thinking. The pussyhat rally died the minute they littered their signs and went home and bravely called for somebody (else) to do something! Women for Hillary apparently never turned up for the election (BTW, Hillary is now at an all time low in popularity according to Gallup despite appearing on a sitcom). So if an army of angry men intends to show up, then the left has lost.

● Why does the word "white" always get used by leftists and the media when this issue is men v. women? And do you think the left would let it slide if I kept sneaking "black" into my angry sentences?

● If this is men v. women, why do so many women support Kavanaugh?

● The media has this wrong anyways, when they say white men are angry. White men aren't angry because white privilege or male privilege is being taken away... as if there was such a thing. No, white men are angry because we've spent the past 2,000 years learning about the protections we need from the government and from each other for society to function. This group of shrill victim-wannabes, like every other racist or hate group, wants to strip those away in the name of their pet peeve and leave us in an era of star chambers that would shame the Nazis, the Communists and the witch burners. When that happens, people get killed and society collapses. See, it turns out that the zombie apocalypse is not a wave of animal-like creatures biting each other, it's packs of liberal targeting people they envy.

● I've had a vision of my death. I'm going to fall and break my neck or something... in the kitchen. For the next three days, my kids are going to walk over the body pretending not to see anything. I intend to haunt the little sh*ts.

● Monsterpiece Theater is starting again at the film site Friday. Make sure you check it out!

  1. I agree things are looking up for Republicans due to Kavanaugh. As I've noted since before Trump won during the 2016 election Trump and Hillary kind of played musical chairs in reverse. Whoever was getting the most media coverage was most disliked by the public.

The fact in 2018 Trump has had the headlines mostly to himself has been a big problem for the midterms. Kavanaugh distracts from Trump's usual antics and thus helps Republicans. Hillary appearing more in the media would help as well.

However, I continue to believe that the ever-extending confirmation process isn't good for Kavanaugh's short term prospects (if the Republicans win a firmer majority in the Senate, the extension of the process would benefit him). Flake is flaking again.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/jeff-flake-brett-kavanaugh-investigation_us_5bb26a81e4b0343b3dc32747

Republican U.S. Senator Jeff Flake said on Monday he wanted the FBI to conduct a real and fulsome investigation of assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, telling a summit hosted by Forbes the probe should not be just to provide political cover for voting to confirm Kavanaugh.

    2. Angry blacks (including of course, Obama) were a standard talk radio narrative during the age of Obama. Kanye West and his infamous rants (I'm gonna let you finish) then considered a prime example of the anger of blacks. Reparations were always right around the corner, up until Obama left office. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    3. The disagreement over Kavanaugh is partisan rather than gender based. The Supreme Court has established itself as a powerful political actor and Kavanaugh is a conservative replacing a moderate so he will be very consequential for decades to come (hopefully).

    4. Politics is all about conspiracy theories and victimization nowadays. There are very, very few believers in anything as abstract as rights or principles. Its all about whose ox is getting gored (or fattened for that matter).

  2. So it looks like the left lost on the FBI investigation. They are reduced to whining that the FBI didn't do enough. That's not a winner. That shifts the blame entirely away from the Republicans to the FBI, which the left had until recently seen as their own as it attacked Trump.

Still not sure if he gets confirmed. I think so, but not sure. Not sure if that will defuse the "white male anger" or not. It won't change anything on the left. They still claim to be outraged, but it seems like they've worn themselves out with the constant "he's going to be impeached any second" and it never happening.

  3. Anthony,

This ==> "There are very, very few believers in anything as abstract as rights or principles" may be what's going on in the media at the moment, but is entirely false. It's true on the left, but not the right.

    2. The "angry white men" may be real this time, though I think it's more likely "angry normals." This is one of those times when middle America (men and women, mainly white but not entirely) are outraged as the political process got out of control. I'm not sure how real it is yet, but I see the outrage... just not sure it reached a boiling point yet.

    3. It is partisan, even as the media wants to pretend that it's gender related.

    1. Don't know about Flake yet. The FBI thing seems to have been a smart strategy.

  4. By the way, the leftist headlines are full of articles about the "dozens" of people who wanted to talk to the FBI who "were ignored."

This is a continuation of the idiot headlines all weekend about leftists who claim to have known him in college and remember him as a drunk. Not relevant.

  5. A couple more thoughts...

    1. The first significant step in slowing the left's bullsh*t happened today. They arrested a Democratic staffer who released the private addresses and phone numbers of several Republican senators. They charged him with a massive list of crimes. He could do serious time. Up to now, leftists having been doing whatever they could to intimidate people. This is the first one who will go to jail for it. I think that will start to slow their crap and temper the fever.

    2. The FBI report apparently says there's no hint of misconduct. This could end up a total victory.

  6. here is how I look at this. This was a scheme hatched by dark money that has tons of resource to look at every one of Trump's candidates. I think Kavanaugh was on the radar since Romney. There was a tape of a woman strategist talking to Dems back in July. This woman is a SCOTUS specialist. She stated they were developing a strategy that "might be successful in upsetting the nomination. Schumer stated all means necessary, and another Dem. declared "street rules" were in effect. Most politicians state SCOTUS is indeed political, and selecting a justice is the important thing POTUS does. This seat is huge because it tips the scales for decades.

The allegation was perfect because it is virtually impossible to disprove, hence the birth of the political term "credible." The goal was always to destroy him and, at very least keep delaying. The holding of the allegation was set up carefully so Feinstein could have it leaked at the last second.

Her story is already starting to fall apart (two doors, flying, etc.) and I find it curious both accusers (forget Avanati) are activist Resistance folks. Politically, the Republicans looked good treating her with respect compared to Democrats flipping through yearbook comparisons to Animal House. My only real question is was Ford a volunteer or a recruit.

People viewed this as an issue of basic fairness. Senators, as always, care less about the truth than their own self-interest. Which is why Republicans are getting a bump in enthusiasm.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Jed, I suspect Ford was a volunteer. To me, the bigger question is (1) is she an opportunist who just lived in the area of his school and figured she could get away with it, or (2) did she really meet him at some point or (3) did she become aware of him and she just inserted him into whatever really happened. And yes, the Democrats manipulated how to use her.

    The others are clearly liars.

What's more, all the "friends" and "roommates" suddenly commenting were recruited. The Democrats had a political machine that sent out emails and made phone calls to classmates and neighbors and the such to try to find people who wanted to smear him. Do I think they are paying them? No. Their motives are fame and relevance.

It is because her story makes no sense that the Democrats screamed bloody murder about how unfair it is to question her. And it's because her story wasn't convincing that they shifted to trying to smear him with a volume of "he's an ass" comments rather than anything relevant.

As an aside, what she got out of it was at least half a million dollars in a go-fund-me account and a lifetime of speaking fees, just like Anita Hill.

  8. "Their motives are fame and relevance." ← This is the counter to all the "she has nothing to gain" defenses. We are social creatures, meaning fame has always been our most valuable commodity. It is moreso now that there are billions of us. With fame, you can go from anything to anything. Anita Hill went from teaching contract law to becoming a sought-after news-show guest on topics including equal opportunity and civil rights on the bases of both race and gender.

  9. Anthony, I have to push back on the idea that "angry black men" was a talk radio staple of the Obama era. There's ample evidence of leftwing outlets propagating the idea of the "angry black man" but very little of talk radio or conservatives doing the same. You'll have to take my word for it, but in all my searching for articles on "angry black men," I didn't find any decrying a right-winger for invoking the stereotype. You'd think that if it was a staple I'd turned up something? I just find leftist handwringing.

  10. Thinking out loud...

I'm not sure if it's better that Kavanaugh win or lose.

If he wins, the "angry white male" vote will probably lose some zest. What the left will do is hard to tell. They may turn out more because they are encouraged by their first real victory... or they may decide that everything is running fine and not turn out. Hard to tell, but the GOP vote will fall.

If he loses, the "angry white male" vote likely grows. So long as they are outraged middle America, which I think they are, this is good for the GOP. If the anger is just the talk radio crowd, then it's bad because those people have been programmed to take out their anger against the GOP. Again, the left is unpredictable. Generic human nature suggests this should boost their turn out, but (1) they are flaky and could turn against the Democrats, (2) their supporters have shown an unwillingness to bother turning out, and (3) this could demoralize them more than inspire them. Again, hard to tell.

I'm thinking it's best to win this and hope to demoralize the left, but I'm not sure.

    Tough call.

  11. tryanmax, Its funny that they invent motives in any altruistic act performed by any conservative or corporation, but when it comes to their own, they only see altruism.

  12. You know what? Never mind. With all the celebrities out in full force, I want to see him win. I hate those losers.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Y'know, this clip from the movie, THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST (1967), perfectly encapsulates the mindset of today's left (particularly the idiot celebrity class), both in regards to Kavanaugh, and in general--

    Wynn Quantrill's hypocrisy

Amazing how a 51-year-old film can be (sadly) so dead-on, without necessarily intending to be!

  14. Collins to vote Yes. Manchin to vote Yes. Kavanaugh wins.

Interestingly, I'm seeing articles about the protestors basically going home. That suggest demoralization on the left, not energizing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kavanaugh wins. Yay.

And the left is turning on Michael Avenatti, the scumbag lawyer who tried to claim Kavanaugh gang raped some woman. Ha ha.

  16. Tryanmax,

Here are a couple examples of talk radio playing up angry blacks and angry Obama and of course, retribution. If you need more I'll be happy to provide them.

    https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2009/09/15/from_kids_on_bus_to_kanye_west_race_rules_all_in_obama_s_america/

RUSH: Hey, look, folks, the white kid on that bus in Belleville, Illinois, he deserved to be beat up. You don’t know about this story? Oh, there’s video of this. The school bus filled with mostly black students beat up a white student a couple of times with all the black students cheering. Of course the white student on the bus deserved the beating. He was born a racist. That’s what Newsweek magazine told us in its most recent cover. It’s Obama’s America, is it not? Obama’s America, white kids getting beat up on school buses now. You put your kids on a school bus, you expect safety but in Obama’s America the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering, ‘Yay, right on, right on, right on, right on,’ and, of course, everybody says the white kid deserved it, he was born a racist, he’s white. Newsweek magazine told us this. We know that white students are destroying civility on buses, white students destroying civility in classrooms all over America, white congressmen destroying civility in the House of Representatives.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/ian-reifowitz/rush-limbaugh-and-the-lon_b_4369335.html

The days of them not having any power are over, and they are angry. And they want to use their power as a means of retribution. That’s what Obama’s about, gang. He’s angry, he’s gonna cut this country down to size, he’s gonna make it pay for all the multicultural mistakes that it has made, its mistreatment of minorities.

    3. Dinesh D'Souza's claim that Obama's cool relationship with England (which was warmer than Trump's is) was a sign of anti-colonial rage.

    https://www.amazon.com/Roots-Obamas-Rage-Dinesh-DSouza/dp/1596982764

    4. Rush Limbaugh claiming Obama was trying to infect the US with the Ebola virus.

    https://money.cnn.com/2014/10/21/media/stelter-response-to-rush-limbaugh/index.html

At one point he targeted President Obama specifically, saying "a bunch of people" view Ebola in America as "payback" -- and that "we have elected people in positions of leadership who think this way. The president is one of them."
In other words, as I said about Limbaugh on Sunday, "He thinks that they think we all deserve to get infected."

    5. Breitbart quoting a Fox analysts talking about Obama would push for billions in reparations (it was always right around the corner).

    https://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2015/04/17/fox-business-networks-charles-payne-obama-will-push-for-slavery-reparations-in-2016/

During a segment on his Fox Business Network show Making Money, host Charles Payne said that he thinks Obama is making ready for a big push to pay billions in slavery reparations in 2016.
During a panel segment, Payne and his crew were discussing the reparations the city of Chicago is making to the mostly black victims of Police Commander Jon Burge, a now convicted Chicago policeman who in the 1970s and ’80s engaged in a long campaign of beating suspects into confessing to crimes they did not commit.
From that subject, Payne veered off into his prediction of what Obama might try in 2016.
    ------
This isn’t the first time that it has been posited that Obama will move for slavery reparations in his second term. Some have warned that as part of Obama’s support for the United Nations Declaration for the Rights of Indigenous People, he will support slave reparations

  17. Its great that Kavanaugh won. His ascension is a huge, lasting conservative victory that liberals won't be able to erase when next they find their way into office.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Here's something one of the Democratic strategist said about why GOP turnout will go down again now that he's nominated:

"The Republican base will see that they got what they wanted," he said. "I don't think that people turn out to say thank you."

That's not right. I don't think Republican wanted Kavanaugh and were outraged because they almost didn't get him. The outrage came from the treatment he got. That's what's upset people. Will that outrage last now that he's confirmed? I don't know. But it's not based on wanting him, it's based on the way he was mistreated.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anthony, I suppose you got me. When black people get angry and conservatives talk about it, that is in fact a narrative. I assumed you were speaking about abstract fear-mongering.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tryanmax,

I know they are a bit long but try reading my posts before responding to them.

The first example was Rush constructing an elaborate fantasy response to a real, disturbing bus attack (on one white kid on a bus with a couple white kids, perpetrated by two blacks kids and stopped by another black kid) which according to the cops was motivated by an argument over seating. The rest are fantasies (Obama is going to take our money and give it to blacks, then kill the country with Ebola!) and/or unsupported conjecture.
