For those who don't know, the Nazi-woke-left is in full attack mode lately. Part of what they are doing is trying to revive the value in screaming racism, which has no value anymore due to misuse. The current attempt is to get white liberals kneeling at the alter again. As one would expect with the herd mentality that dominates liberal whites, they can't drop to their knees fast enough. But is this legitimate? Hardly. Let's look at The Simpsons.
The Simpsons have become odious and tedious all at once, and now they've pulled themselves into the virtue signalling game by apologizing for casting whites, nongays, nonhemorrhoid suffers, etc. in the roles of nonwhites, gays, hemorrhoid suffers, etc. One of them, Hank Azaria has recently stepped down from several characters he voiced because of he's all wokey wokey now. He used to voice characters like Indian Apu and black doctor Hibbert. They will now be voiced by... well, who cares?
Anyways, old Hank issued the new-standard liberal apology. He said that he had to "shut up and listen" and he learned that what he did contributed to structural racism, and he's very sorry.
First of all, there is no such thing as structural racism. That is a liberal invention meant to invent racism where there is none and to do so without taking any blame. So he's full of crap. But even more, what he did was either racist or not. What he did was he spent 20 years being a racist on television. The end. He wasn't some angle who somehow encouraged others to misbehave even as he acted out of the purest of motives. That's like Hitler saying he contributed to structural antisemitism. No, you promoted antisemitism, and Hank spent 20 years promoting racism.
Bad Hank.
At this point, if we are to take Hank's apology as legitimate, then he must actually confess to his crimes. He can't blame others for being racist in response to his action, he needs to stand up and be a man and apologize for being flat out racist. What's more, talk is cheap Hank. You need to give back ALL the money you got for voicing those racist characters. Absolutely. You can't say, "Gee, I'm sorry I stole all your money, but I'm not paying anything back." No. When you do wrong, you disgorge your ill-gotten gains.
This applies to The Simpsons producers too. They let this man spew his racism while excluding people of color ("POCs") from their show. That's even worse racism. They too need to give back all the money they made over the last twenty years or their apology is meaningless.

As an aside, not only is this a false apology to claim innocence but accuse others of misbehavior based on your actions, not only is this a false apology if you don't give back the money, but let me say add this: this "I needed to shut up and listen" is itself racist. That is the Magic Negro trope where a white person claims to gain some special understanding of the world by listening to some backward minority who shows them a little something about the true humanity they left behind with their modern culture. Hollywood is full of this story trope (liberals can't get enough of it), and the white man's burden trope. Make no mistake, it is racist and what old Hank is doing now is being racist to excuse his racist behavior which he's trying to pin on other people.
I think Hank might want to shut up and stop listening at this point.
Thoughts?
First of all, Andrew, thank Heaven you're back! I read your comments on the other thread and...wow. I'm glad you pulled through, bud. I really can't say more than that.
ReplyDeleteWhile you were out, I tried to convince myself that you were merely in a coma caused by the universe's cruel sense of humor- in having to watch your Bucs win a second Super Bowl with Tom Brady at the helm. On that note, how many souls did your fanbase have to sell and do you or other members of the Tampa crowd plan on negotiating future contracts with the Dark One?
And before you ask, no, my flirting with abandoning the modern world and Western Civilization in order to go off and join a remote monastery in Tibet had nothing to do with a certain playoff game at Heinz Field in January. I assure you it was entirely borne out of the insanity that has gripped this country since last November. And I don't use the word 'insanity' lightly these days, especially when I found that getting my wisdom teeth removed the day after inauguration day was, interestingly, much less painful to deal with. (At least my Buckeyes beat the [expletive] outta Dabo.]
On Azaria...first let me say that when it comes to racism, every article that comments on it uses the word so many times, with so many adjectives, and with so many repetitious ten-dollar words that my head hurts just reading them. Honestly, I can't tell one type of made-up racism from the newest type of made-up racism. Maybe the Left's plan is just to create madness via text and give us sane people aneurysms.
Azaria is a class-A coward. If he had any guts, he should've threatened to quit altogether, which may or may have put the show's very (life-supported) existence into jeopardy. And then, he should've sued the producers under California law for denying him work based on his race, gender, and anything else. (I was thinking of when 'Hamilton' was casting in CA and had to remove a 'blacks and Hispanics only' sign when a court said it violated the laws in question. Ah, left on left violence!)
Anyway, the best response came from overseas when John Cleese responded to Azaria's comments with the following tweet: "Not wishing to be left behind by Hank Azaria, I would like to apologise on behalf on Monty Python for all the many sketches we did making fun of white English people
We're sorry for any distress we may have caused"

Hi Rustbelt, It's good to be back! Thanks for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I couldn't care enough about the NFL to watch the games last year. It just didn't click for me, so it didn't matter to me what Tampa did.
The world has indeed gone insane, and I mean that genuinely. An army of fools has turned itself loose determined to destroy everything... and intelligent people are not only letting them but encouraging them.
Azaria is a coward, and so are people like Eddie Murphy who apologized for all the funny things he once said. That said, Azaria's apology, just like all these #metoo and "I needed to shut up and listen" racism apologies is faker than plastic dog poop. It's condescending. It isn't an apology. It takes no responsibility. I apologizes for the conduct of others. And it uses a racist mindset.
But that is how liberals work, isn't it?
Carlin could be a genius observer at times.
Wow! That's a lot of great connections that I would've never made on my own, especially that about the Magic Negro trope.
ReplyDeleteAs to Carlin, he had some very unkind things to say about guys named Todd, and I don't know if I can ever get past that. Not because I'm sensitive, mind you, but it's about the only time I can think of where he went for the low-hanging fruit.
tryanmax, Thanks! I've heard this apology several times now and something has always struck me as wrong with it. The more I've thought about this, the more I realized that it was the Magic Negro trope and that it wasn't an apology for misconduct so much as it's an apology for enabling others to be racist/sexist/etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember a Todd joke?
tryanmax, if you didn't appreciate Carlin's words about guys named Todd, (which, honestly I've never heard), wait until you hear the latest from Sesame Street.
ReplyDeleteWow. Todds are evil. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteWell put Andrew and everyone else here. All this virtue signaling - I swear, there has to be a more (in)appropriate term to describe the kind of public masturbation with intent to bully that it really is - is beyond sickening and I was glad to see John Cleese (not exactly a righty himself) mock Azaria for it too, Rustbelt. And I feel you on the Tibetan monastery too, brother, especially if it's the kind that teaches you how to become Batman or the Shadow. The insanity that's been wearing me down goes all the way back to the beginning of the collective beer virus brain s#$%s, though. And while I've never been all that interested in pro sports aside from cheering on the Braves now and then their joining the wank parade has caused me to actively despise them now (especially since the MLB has been one of the biggest tantrum throwers over my home state's attempt to close the barn door after the horse left, for all the good it's going to do once it hits the courts, provided the state pols don't eventually give in to their corporate overlords first).
ReplyDeleteExcellent catch on how they're basically LARPing the Magic Negro trope too, Andrew, and on the general insanity everywhere. It's like the left wants to keep pushing harder, faster, and meaner until they either get absolute submission or get some heat back in response, at which point they hope to rally the same people they've been crapping on to join them in a final purge of everyone they don't like. The more I see of it the more it looks like the last act of a desperate ideology and I'm not sure there's a Randolph Scott to provide motivation these days...
George is sick of guys named Todd:

Daniel, This is absolutely about power. They are trying to control what is right and wrong and get the state and culture to use its power to punish those who don't conform. It's truly thought police.
