My Book: How Conservatism Can Rise From The Ashes

I published the Agenda 2016 book I've been promising. . . here ==>LINK

This book is something I started talking about after the election, when I realized that the current conservative agenda doesn't address the issues that matter to the public at large. This book is an attempt to create an agenda that will appeal to the vast majority of Americans by using common sense conservative ideas to address the things that matter to average people. These solutions are probably unlike anything you've seen before, but they're also totally common sense. Some of the topics covered by the agenda include creating jobs, tax reform, education reform, healthcare reform, environmentalism, and promoting middle class values. I think you'll like most of what I propose. The book is also packed with lots of data, all of which is linked, so it's a good resource too.

Anyway, read the book because we'll talk about it now and then, and I can't reprint it here. So think of it as homework you can do over the holiday! :)

Right now, the book is on Kindle only, though I am working on the paperback edition. It's only a $1.00 at the moment -- but the price will go up fairly soon (probably next week). Think of it as a blog buddy discount. So go buy it while it's cheap and tell your friends to buy it. For those of you with Tea Party connections, please tell your groups if you think they'll like it. And please do leave reviews at Amazon. Those sell books and I'd like this book to be read by a lot of people because I think the ideas could help conservatism a lot.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who helped me with the book!

  2. I just reviewed your book for Amazon :) I don't have a Kindle, so I may have to wait for a paper back edition to purchase. I didn't want to try and print out my draft copy.

  3. Excellent! Thanks Jed! Hopefully others will like it as well. :)

I'm working on the paperback. It will take maybe a week.

  4. Congratulations! I guess I have to buy a Kindle after all. Been sitting on the fence for years. No early adopter am I.

I´m not important though. The big question is, who needs to read it? Who are you going to send it to?

  5. Thanks!

As soon as I get the paperback in place, I'm going to send copies to a number of people. I'm thinking all the younger GOP guys. In particular, Rubio and Paul. I'm trying to figure out how to get them to read it -- maybe attach a check. There are also some "young conservative" groups who have really open minds about building a new agenda.

I would actually encourage everyone to send copies to their Congressmen and Senators and whatnot. And I definitely hope the Tea Party people pass this along.

  6. It would be nice to see this get some traction though, just like your previous publications, I don't expect any of the big conservative websites (aka "the cool table) to do anything with it.

  7. Scott, We'll see. Who knows? I doubt the other conservative websites will pick it up, but some people on talk radio might and some politicians might. And all I'm really after is people to take the ideas. This isn't about sales. I don't expect to make money on this.

  8. P.S. Scott, You read it. What did you think?

  9. As an Indie, I liked it.

I found my e-mail with my initial reactions (edited for clarity):

"Well, from my decidedly non-political POV, it seemed to cover all the essentials, without going into controversial "wedge" issues (abortion and teh gayz).

As I said, the auto mechanic analogy for healthcare might not work since many people feel cheated by their mechanics (though I get the logic).

Unfortunately, you're dead-on when it comes to rhetoric about industry and the environment."

In other words, hopefully it'll educate some open-minded people. :-)

  10. Thanks Scott!

This book takes no stand on those because they aren't relevant to winning over the public. This is purely about building an agenda that will connect conservatism with people in their daily lives.

As for the mechanic, there really is no better analogy.

  12. Congrats!

I just got a copy - expect to read and review over the weekend.

You should hit up Instapundit - he links many self-published books. Perfect audience for you.

    Now back to my lurking...

  13. Ponderosa -

    I e-mailed Instapundit already, as I've always done for Andrew's books. If it's mentioned, it'll be a first. :-)

  14. Libertarian Advocate, Great! Hopefully, you'll really like the ideas. Let me know what you think. And feel free to suggest more too.

As an aside, it should look pretty good on the ipad. I tested it on each to check the formatting and it looked good there.

  15. Ponderosa, Thanks! Please feel free to share any thoughts you have!

I'll e-mail him and see what he says! Thanks for the idea. :)

  17. FYI, for all you non-Kindle owners, Amazon has a free cloud reader (for internet browsers) and reading apps for smartphones, tablets, computers etc. LINK

  18. Scott, AP,

I just pinged him as well. Fingers crossed.

    Perhaps Sarah Hoyt (accordingtohoyt)?
She is a fiction writer, based in CO and Instapundit links her frequently - might be easier to get on her radar.

Times like this I wish I knew a few people...

Oh - what about the Western Conservative Summit in July? If available, a booth looks to be around $400.

  19. Ponderosa, Thanks! I'll try Hoyt as well.

I wasn't aware there was a Western Conservative Summit? I'll have to look into that.

  20. tryanmax, Good point and thanks for mentioning that. It doesn't work with the latest IE, but it works with everything else. It's very convenient.

P.S. What did you think of the book?

  21. The best word for Andrew's book is "complete." It really addresses everything that people look to government for, be they average Joes and Janes or serious politicos. Not only does it touch on every topic, but it does so thoroughly leaving no stone unturned. And through it all, it offers sane, workable solutions that are novel while appealing to common sense.

  22. Can you tell that I cribbed from my own review?

  23. I issue a public apology to Andrew for failing to review the drafts of his book. I have no excuse except it must have been some low level employee who failed to make sure that I did. (That seems to be working for the IRS...)

BTW, don't we have a 4th Anniversary of Commentarama coming up?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Bev, That's ok. :)

Just read it and see if it's worth passing along to your Tea Party friends!

    And... YES! Yesterday... Whoops.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I KNOW it is worth passing along and I will make sure that it gets passed along. And with all that has gone down in the last few weeks, the Tea Party groups are re-energized and gearing up for 2014.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO COMMENTARAMA ET AL.!
    The Drinks are on Andrew!

As for the drinks... uh... yeah.

  28. TennJ: I will join you in that. I never met Larry, but I miss him like I did...

  29. Jed and Bev, I agree completely. It's sad.
