A Pattern?

It seems to me there is a pattern in this whole sexual assaultapolooza. Maybe you can help me spot it. Here’s what we know so far:

Hard-Core Liberals:
Harvey Weinstein
James Toback
Kevin Spacey
Jeremy Pivon
Andy Dick
Ben Affleck
Matt Damon (cover-up)
Nickelodeon Producer
Head of Amazon Studios
TV Chef John Besh
Journalist Marc Halperin
NPR Editor/NYT Executive
New Republic Editor
Editorial Director of Vox
Conservatives:
GW Bush (senile)
There must be some pattern there. I just can’t see it. How about this: “Strong” women who kept silent and let these well-known predators go after unsuspecting actresses: 290+ so far. And don’t forget, there are still dozens out there apparently, who these “strong” women won’t name... for no legitimate reason whatsoever.

You know, this looks like the kind of cess in which liberalism swims. It was sexy when JFK had an affair. Bill Clinton’s rapes turned liberal women on. Hillary set out to destroy the women who accused him. For thirty years hundreds of liberal women let their sisters get assaulted by these predators without a word. Even now, they won’t name the predators who are still out there. And all the while, all of these people were whining about an invented “war on women” by conservatives.

Are you seeing my point?

Every once in a while, a conservatives gets caught doing something asinine: the televangelists, Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly, and they go down in flames with conservatives taking them down. Liberals? Liberals give their ideological fellow travelers a pass until they the stench become too high to deny. Let’s hope this scandal keeps going and going and going.

  1. Roger Ailes didn't exactly go down. He lost his title (and got a 40 million dollar severance package) but stayed a regular in the corridors of power at Fox and elsewhere. He even became an advisor to Trump (Bill Clinton 2016) until the two fell out months later.

Looking at Ailes, O'Reilly and Trump it appears to me many Republicans also give their ideological fellow travelers a pass until they the stench become too high to deny.

Debate over everything from deaths in war to the resident's golfing is driven by partisanship rather than a true sense of outrage.

Moving on the terror attack in New York was carried out by a Muslim ISIS supporter. I suspect he came here as a minor and was under surveillance due to subsequent radicalization. That seems to be the pattern. If true it means screening means little since the young are radicalized only after they get here.

  2. Now director Brett Ratner is accused of going rapey rapey and of masturbating in front of one woman... which is apparently the 'in' thing in Hollywood.

There have been rumors and allegations against Ratner for some time now, but this is the first time they've gotten traction. So add another name to the list.

  3. As an aside, on the Mueller indictment, I was reading an interesting analysis which pointed out that:

    1. Manafort isn't accused of anything related to his work for Trump.

    2. The staffer who is accused of lying was apparently trying to get the Trump people to meet with "Russians" (who turned out to be fake), but the Trump people refused.

So as indictments go, this one is pretty pathetic as a weapon against Trump.

  4. BTW, We have our first attempt to slow the Inquisition. Actor Richard Kind (Spin City) is worried that some women are making fake allegations to get famous.

This will be the next phase, when Hollywood is tired of feeling scared and the accusers have overreached. Then statements like this will be common and some high level of proof will be demanded. At that point, the whole thing ends and Hollywood declares itself purified.

... but it's too early. Right now, it's still heresy to declare that it's even possible a woman would lie about this, and Richard will likely be torn apart and destroyed for saying this.

  5. Andrew - we are still going through the exposure (pardon the pun) of the womanizing rapists, moving on to the pedophiles and working our way up to the the gay predators. Interestingly, no women have been accused...yet.

Also, none of this would have come out if Clinton had won. Just sayin'.

  6. Also, the whole Russian stole the election issue is going to backfire badly on the Dems/Liberals especially when it is being "leaked" that the FBI, Obama WH & Clintons et al. knew all about the real story and tried their best to sideline it with the help of the adoring media. Just like the "War on Women" issue.

  7. Bev, If Clinton had won, we'd be hunkering down as Clinton threatened the Soviet Union and promised to fight AIDS and told us how she supported German unification.

But yeah, Hollywood would be nice and silent so those meanie Republicans can't make anything bad abut this unfortunate incident.

BTW, Dustin Hoffman is on deck now for being accused.

In terms of women, several people started down that path and were shut down by the collective harshly before they got too far. Now is not the time to admit that women can do the same thing... not possible... no way, no how.

  8. Andrew, I saw the most amazing paragraph yesterday in a The Hill article about the Manafort indictment:

"So the question becomes, when did the Trump campaign know about the hacking, did they have a hand in the hacking, did they aid and abet in the hacking and did they help plan how the hacked emails would be weaponized?"

Has this not been the supposed question since the day after the election? Does this not indicate that a year of investigation has failed to move that question from square one?

  9. On Hollywood, is it bad that I'm trying to hurry up and watch all the Kevin Spacey films in my Netflix and Amazon queues before they're yanked?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Don't forget the disgraced uber Liberal and purveyor of Jello, Bill Cosby, who was used to have a statue of himself at Disney World...

    ReplyDelete
  11. tryanmax, It does. It shows that nothing has changed. Even worse for them, the indictment has nothing (zip) to do with any of that. It's all about Manafort doing some money laundering outside the campaign.

On Amazon... if the left is willing to destroy statues and burn books and replace guns with walkie talkies in films, they will one day scrub the actors they sacrifice from the world of films. Look for Spacey's movies to vanish from distribution, his name to be removed and one day for him to be digitally removed.

  12. LL, Isn't it funny how all these people are coming from the "look at me!" careers. I don't see any scientists, engineers, CEOs, doctors or store managers yet.

Odd. I guess this "epidemic" is selective in who can be infected.

  13. This dumpster fire just won't stop burning, will it? Out of all of those names Andy Dick jumps out as being way overdue for a scandal like this to happen. I can't say I'll miss any of them if they end up in prison over this. Also, Andrew, what's your take on the public's reaction to all of this so far?

  14. Andrew,

Some of the discrepancy in coverage is due to fame. For example there is a pretty steady stream of sex abuse cases against doctors in the news but unless a hospital is being shot up or a victim is famous coverage and interest is minimal. Which isn't to say Hollywood doesn't outpace America in sexual misconduct.

I have a hard time imagining Spacey getting scrubbed. Kind of like Michael Jackson or Bill Cosby he is way too embedded in pop culture. Still his prospects going forward are bleak even if he avoids jail.

  15. The latest NY terrorist came here as an adult through a diversity visa and supposedly radicalized once he got here (seems to have been on the radar of law enforcement). That should be enough to kill that program.

  16. Well, with computer graphics and even computer generated voices being what they are, pretty soon studios won't need actors...or even their voices...

  17. I am getting to the age where I might as well sit and wait for the end to come. Apparently thinking I was commenting on this post, I somehow managed to attach them to the prior post.

  18. Btw, my friend and US Congressman John Duncan was one of the sponsors of an act to repeal the diversity visa program. Bully for him. Unrelated question? Where is the cry to stop the manufacture and rental of trucks?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hold on to your hat, Jed. Some talking heads were openly opining about increased screenings for vehicle rentals. I don't know the larger context, just heard the audio clips on Rush, but still.

Also, some are saying that Home Depot's rental policy is tougher than gun laws as an argument for tighter gun controls. Idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Question for the legal eagles: Did Trump taint potential jury pools by saying the terrorist truck driver should get the death penalty? I only ask because, as you know, it's virtually impossible to find anyone who doesn't agree with the president.

  21. Hillary rigged the nomination. I am shocked, shocked!

    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2017/11/02/donna-brazile-trump-and-bernie-were-right-the-dnc-rigged-it-for-hillary-big-league-n2403847

My predecessor, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, had not been the most active chair in fundraising at a time when President Barack Obama’s neglect had left the party in significant debt...Debbie was not a good manager. She hadn’t been very interested in controlling the party—she let Clinton’s headquarters in Brooklyn do as it desired so she didn’t have to inform the party officers how bad the situation was. The Saturday morning after the convention in July, I called Gary Gensler, the chief financial officer of Hillary’s campaign. He wasted no words. He told me the Democratic Party was broke and $2 million in debt. “What?” I screamed. “I am an officer of the party and they’ve been telling us everything is fine and they were raising money with no problems.” That wasn’t true, he said. Officials from Hillary’s campaign had taken a look at the DNC’s books. Obama left the party $24 million in debt—$15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign and had been paying that off very slowly. Obama’s campaign was not scheduled to pay it off until 2016...If I didn’t know about this, I assumed that none of the other officers knew about it, either. That was just Debbie’s way. In my experience she didn’t come to the officers of the DNC for advice and counsel. She seemed to make decisions on her own and let us know at the last minute what she had decided, as she had done when she told us about the hacking only minutes before the Washington Post broke the news.

  22. tryanmax, In a theoretical sense, yes. So the left will scream about it. But in reality, no. Judges almost never let a juror out for having prior knowledge of a case so long as they say they can be unbiased.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jed, Great point. That's the left's usual MO: (1) scream that we don't know if it's terrorism, (2) call for banning guns, (3) look for root causes related to racism.

Of course, when it's a white guy, they (1) call for banning guns, (2) blame racism, (3) blame white people.

Logic tells us they should be calling for a ban on rental cars/trucks.
