As an aside, here's the rest of the debate schedule:
Oct 11: Vice Presidential Debate, Foreign and domestic topics
Oct 16: Second Presidential Debate, Town Hall meeting format

It's called federalism. Ever heard of it?

tryanmax said...

Okay, Barry, it doesn't work to twist words spoken only minutes ago.

Individualist said...

You See Mitt Romney

we knows how to keep our Republicans in line in Taxsachutsetts... I GarUNtee

AndrewPrice said...

This is gibberish.

T-Rav said...

Patti, Michelle glared at him and he momentarily froze. They're about to lose all those free trips overseas.

Barack Obama said...

You have to take the law past the point of no return to find out what's in it.

Individualist said...

Folks with insurance gets a rebate ...uh ... what?

T-Rav said...

So the answer is no. No, you have not heard of federalism.

Notawonk said...

t-rav: she's all THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR MY ANNIVERSARY?! MITT MOPPING THE FLOOR WITH YOUR BEHIND?! ~glare o'death~

tryanmax said...

I'm absolutely unable to follow Obama's answers.

T-Rav said...

Indi, don't feel bad if you're confused. Obama's even more confused.

Kit said...

Romney bringing up IPAB.

"Government is not effective at bringing down the cost of anything."

AndrewPrice said...

Excellent! I'm glad he pointed out Cleveland Clinic is private!

Individualist said...

It would have been better if Romney had said...

Well first Mr. President we read the MAssachutsetts law before voting on it instead of voting on it to see what's in it...

tryanmax said...

No man should go to bed without a little action on his anniversary.

But Obama will.

And I don't feel all that bad for him.

Notawonk said...

Mitt is calm and patient in the face of sheer stupidity. Barry is the spoiled child repeating what he wants even if it makes no sense.

Joel Farnham said...

Obama doesn't really know what is in his plan. It does have a Death Panel.

T-Rav said...

This is merely a subjective observation, but Obama sounds fatigued and stumbling delivering these "statements." Romney sounds energetic and combative.

Individualist said...

Tyranmx isn't Confusion one of the 57 states in Obama's alternate universe...

I believe the capital is Dazed end

tryanmax said...

So, wait, is Obama saying ObamaCare is the same as MassCare or not?

T-Rav said...

He just told you, you f@#king idiot.

tryanmax said...

T-Rav, you beat me to it!

AndrewPrice said...

That's an applause line and it was really poorly done.

Notawonk said...

uh-oh, Mitt's fixin' to hit it out of the park...

T-Rav said...

Dear liberals: Look at this. This is your god. Just look at him.

That is all.

tryanmax said...

Mitt has made it really clear that he is focused on middle income people. It's going to be hard to brush that away.

Kit said...

"This is merely a subjective observation, but Obama sounds fatigued and stumbling delivering these "statements." Romney sounds energetic and combative."

I'm seeing that too, but I'm biased.

Notawonk said...

Barry withers when facing a worthy opponent.

AndrewPrice said...

Tenth amendment baby!!!!!

Tam said...

It's hard not to see what you want to see, but I agree. fatigued and stumbling. uh..uh..

tryanmax said...

Sweet! Not only is Romney winning the debate, he's steering it now!

T-Rav said...

I could say how excited and upbeat I feel listening to this, but it would be vulgar to say in mixed company.

tryanmax said...

Too bad you don't spend all that much time in the Oval Office, Barry.

AndrewPrice said...

T-Rav and tryanmax, I don't think Obama is very well prepared. He has a memorized speech for each question and then stumbles around with platitudes.

Notawonk said...

Well, uh, I, um...ladders of opportunity? I don't need your stinkin' ladder.

Abraham Lincoln said...

Seriously, you're bringing me into this? Have I not earned rest from years of saving the Union and fighting vampires?

Individualist said...

Lincoln ... see Lincoln was a collectivist just like me

Lincoln.... uh was better in reheasal I promise

Doc Whoa said...

Obama is hard to listen too because he rambles all over the place.

Tam said...

He's pronouncing opportunity wrong. He means "outcome."

T-Rav said...

If Obama brings up high-speed rail, you will all pay me $200.

Notawonk said...

grave. rolled in.

Joel Farnham said...

Where are the lay offs of teachers?

I haven't seen any.

Barack Obama said...

We need more teachers because the unions won't let me fire the bad ones. It's really the only option I've got.

Tam said...

This is BEAUTIFUL by Mitt. Beautiful.

tryanmax said...

Tam, lol!

The Arab Spring said...

We don't.

Notawonk said...

tam: i agree. i say we all lift a drink in a toast for a job well done!

AndrewPrice said...

Wow! Romney is giving a pretty vision. Obama was lost in the weeds.

T-Rav said...

Tam, they start with the same letter. It's an easy mistake.

CrispyRice said...

OMG, I'm SO turned on by Romney right now...

Jim Lehrer said...

Mitt, I will pretend that you haven't given any specifics so far and ask you for specifics.

Barack Obama said...

He stole my talking point! He can't do that! That's...that's just wrong!!!

Paul Ryan said...

Hey, Crispy, just wait until you see me. October 11th. It's a date.

AndrewPrice said...

Obama keeps going nasty on the class warfare -- getting old fast.

Notawonk said...

CrispyRice said...

AndrewPrice said...

Good night Patti! Thanks for coming.

Barack Obama said...

Hey, have you guys seen "Community"? That's a great show. America needs more of that.

AndrewPrice said...

Crispy, LOL! So Romney has won you over?

T-Rav said...

Oh, so NOW Romney genuinely cares about the poor and children? F@#k you.

Individualist said...

tryanmax said...

Maybe it's a good thing I didn't buy those Hostess Zingers.

Individualist said...

Obama it is too late for sucking up to the Moderator

Doc Whoa said...

This was awesome. Mitt won this easily!

T-Rav said...

ObamaPhone Lady, you'd better start taking care of that device, I think.

tryanmax said...

Lehrer is trying to make Mitt look like he's dodging the question. Mitt didn't let him. Denied!

Tam said...

LEADERSHIP.

Game Master Rob Adams said...

I agree. 100% Mitt. He's speaking to the issues and not dodging them. He's not double speaking. He is talking about leadership, fiscal responsibility and working across the aisle.

T-Rav said...

And then you will ignore them. We know.

Individualist said...

We are sorry the ObamaPhone lady's phone is out of service. Please check the number and try again...

AndrewPrice said...

Bad time for partisan sniping, Mr. President, on a question about bipartisanship.

Tam said...

SPIKE!

tryanmax said...

Says the man with no plan.

T-Rav said...

Oh, you're a real champ at saying no to the other party, Barry. We'll all give you that.

Barack Obama said...

Let me take this opportunity to blame the Republicans once again.

tryanmax said...

Says the man who won't say no to his own party.

Game Master Rob Adams said...

I think he won it after Obama complained about big oil money and Romney mentioned the 90 billion spent on Green energy.

AndrewPrice said...

What an ASS!!

And how hypocritical.

Anonymous said...

I'll admit it, I missed half, but so far, it looks like Romney certainly rehearsed.

I still am waiting for an explanation on the vast simplicity of Romneycare (under 100 pages) in comparison to Obamacare(2* (10^3) pages)

Game Master Rob Adams said...

"Was a terrific debate" yeah - you had your ass kicked.

Individualist said...

So the Man who championed Yes We Can

now says you don't know how to say No!

Where is the irony in this debate?

Over there In a box...

Chris Matthews said...

I've got a thrill going down my le--oh wait, that's urine.

Game Master Rob Adams said...

..."and that's why I bought GM and will run it into the ground, because I care about American energy. Let's close loopholes. Let's create jobs and penalize those people (except me) who send jobs overseas. All of these things are designed to make sure that the American people have 'a fair share'." I have an idea. How about a flat tax?

AndrewPrice said...

Obama's vision is "Romney is a jerk."

Joel Farnham said...

Either Obama's handlers need to up Obama's meds or do without them. He isn't making much sense.

Romney, you did it man. You just made the pundits irrelevant. Congratulations.

T-Rav said...

Obama 2012: He's a lover and a fighter.

tryanmax said...

"This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal."

Did you forget about that one, Barry?

Game Master Rob Adams said...

Mr. President. Self castigation isn't fitting a president.

Tam said...

I'll fight every single day. Unless I'm golfing. Or in Vegas. Or on the view or letterman. Or on vacay, baby! But on all the other days, I'll fight. Seriously. Just tell me whose ass to kick.

T-Rav said...

"ObamaCare will be fully installed." That's all you need to know right there.

Anonymous said...

I think an opportunity was missed when they went to the shortened debate on regulation. Dodd-Frank is important, but most of the killing regulations are coming from other agencies--particularly the EPA. I'm sure it will come up again, however, and Romney should nail it. I think Romney won on points, but didn't score any fatal wounds. Two to go.

Tennessee Jed said...

well done, Mr. Romney

Game Master Rob Adams said...

hhhahaha tam. wahoo. Biden versus Ryan. Not even going to be a challenge.

T-Rav said...

Tam, wow. I didn't think you could do it, but you encapsulated an entire administration in three lines. Wow.

AndrewPrice said...

Ass kicking complete. Thank you for playing, Mr. President. You may now flee the stage.

Doc Whoa said...

How long before CNN puts out the first poll showing Obama winning the debate by 62%?

Individualist said...

Game Set and Match to Mr. Romney

Congratulations! We can see who did their homework and who went to Vegas....

T-Rav said...

Michelle seems displeased. Knew I was right about that lack of free trips thing.

tryanmax said...

Excellent closing remarks from Romney.

AndrewPrice said...

Tam, LOL!

AndrewPrice said...

All right, folks. I'm outta here to write the recap! Thanks for coming! :)

Tennessee Jed said...

just took a peek at Joel Pollack's column at Breitbart. They should have stopped it.

CrispyRice said...

Fabulous! Just fab, Romney.

Let the spin begin. >>eyeroll<<

tryanmax said...

NBC commentary is ridiculous. Obama didn't have his ass handed to him. He "decided" to "play it low key" and keep it "above the fray." They are swooning at how thoughtful he was, taking many pauses to gather his thoughts. Yeah right!

T-Rav said...

Oh, shoot. Even MSNBC can't spin this thing. Ed Schultz is freaking out.

Game Master Rob Adams said...

Thanks for hosting. Between here and my facebook page I've been on a roll. Oh and just a shameless plug. We have launched our website www.whenthenavywalked.com and www.hillbilliesvsaliens.com we are a small company who cannot hire people under obamacare. It's a fact. sorry. It's not politics.

T-Rav said...

Or at least I think it's Ed Schultz. There was a big meathead talking, so I just assumed.

T-Rav said...

Andrew, thanks for putting on the show! This really lifted my spirits. :-)

G'night, all!

Joel Farnham said...

Now THAT is a debate!

Game Master Rob Adams said...

"90 billion dollars on green energy is like 50 years of subsidies for big oil"

tryanmax said...

If anyone wants some late night laughs, go to twitter in search of pro-Obama tweets. The desperation is palpable. A few gems:

I've gotten in more passionate #debates over soda pop. This debate was bland. Tepid. Dull. Nothing. @amazingatheist

Romney: "I actually have no ideas. And I'll kill Obamacare and Medicare. But I'm white. Doesn't that still count for something?" @TheDailyEdge

So, apparently women — who will decide this presidency — don’t merit a mention. My uterus is yelling at the TV. @AngryBlackLady

Mitt came in to this debate knowing he could lie continuously and not get pinned down on it. @QueerjohnPA

Disagree we heard the President and he was cool and was not going to have a juvenile fight, we know Mitt lied ‏@EdieVP

poor lil proggies

tryanmax said...

T-Rav, please, please, please don't forget. I have to see that.

ACG, I figured Obama was running a deficit. Early this week, Laura Ingraham acted shocked when Paul Ryan told her that Obama was outspending them. She took that as a deficiency in the Romney campaign. But my gut told me that Obama is just easy about going into the red. Looks like my gut wins again!

Individualist said...

Hee Hee

Just checked the live debate feed at Politico

How are we viewing this debate and I don't know it will change once we have the polls and the voters decise but let's say Mitt romney had a good night.

People are saying that Obama is a bit rusty tongiht and he is just dusting the rust off...

Hee Hee Hee .... I will sleep happy tonight

T-Rav said...

tryanmax, when have I ever disappointed you?

Take a look, everyone. OH MY

Anthony said...

I saw about half of the debate. Romney's performance was great, he had a better stage presence and better command of the facts.

Tam said...

T-Rav, thank you. Deeeee-lightful!

tryanmax said...

T-Rav, thank you, thank you, thank you!

I actually think Obama should take Matthews' advice. But then, I'm rooting for him to lose. So take it as it comes.
