So, I was walking through the City Hall Park in lower Manhattan one morning last week when I saw this...
Two pigeons sitting on Horace Greeley's head. I can't imagine what they could have been talking about, but I have a feeling that you may know. Do your best and there may be a prize...but probably not.

That's not Ben Franklin?
Pigeon #1: (as Kevin James) "Look at this hairline! Who was he trying to fool?"
Pigeon #2: (as Ray Romano) "Trying to grow a party in the back is no substitute for a full crown! Maybe he should've tried a hat?"
"Having too long witnessed the horrors of the outcomes of Jets games, Horace Greeley's empty soul no longer has the desire to live- or brush away pigeons."
"Three letters: C-N-N." (I know. Too easy.)
"The dangers of entrusting the cleaning of one's hair to the New York Public Works Department graphically portrayed."
Pigeon #1: "Made it to the top, ma!"
Pigeon #2: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Greeley to P2: "Hey! I'm the reporter! That's my line!"
Pigeons: "YUES SHUTTA YA MOUTH!"
Greeley: "Sorry..."
Bill Murray's boss from 'Scrooged': "Guess I'm not the only one in this city who's a genuine worm feast now, am I?"
Two words: DULL SURPRISE!
Once upon a mid-June dreary, while I stood forever still, bronzed and weary,
Rusting and cracking while standing on a concrete floor-
I wished, again to be yapping, when on my head there came a tapping,
A pair of pigeons also crapping, crapping on what I stood for,
"Will this pass?" I muttered, "The crapping on what I stood for?"
Quote the pigeons, "Nevermore."
It's a journalist, let's crap on him...
Andrew - No, that's not Ben Franklin. You can tell 'cause he's not wearing glasses.
Rustbelt - What can I say? Golden, man, just golden.
Critch - LOL! Yeah, pigeons are that smart too!
OT (except there really is no topic) , therefore:
A TOPIC for discussion - So Paul Ryan has lashed out at anyone who deems actually knowing what is in the pending very secretive Trans-Atlantic Trade Pact. He has literally said that we will have to pass it to see what is in it?
This is intolerable just on its face. If we want to know what is in pending legislation, we have the Constitutional right to see it. It was not tolerable with Obamacare and it is not tolerable now.
What is so flagrantly wrong with this that Mr. Ryan feels it necessary to keep not only the details, but the very bill secreted from the American people and more importantly, from our elected representatives in Congress who must actually sign a non-disclosure agreement to even see the bill?
Bev,
Trade deals have always been negotiated in secret. And they make convenient scapegoats for problems caused by things such as over-regulation and "pro-worker" policies in general. They also allow for politicians to attack them on the grounds of "Standing up for the 'Merikan Worker!"
And, with protectionism at a high again (on both the left and the right), any trade deal, no matter how beneficial, will be picked apart until dead by the protectionists. So Ryan could be fearful of that.
Of course, if the pro-free trade Republicans knew how to message they wouldn't be in this mess.
Now, given Obama's history, I have full confidence he has somehow managed to screw this whole deal up.
Bev, Ryan is on our side, so now it's good to keep these bills secret! ;-)
Seriously, this is why I have so much more respect for conservatives, because we base our criticisms on the actions, not the person taking the action.
Bravo, Bev! :D
Kit, Two points.
First, these deals have been negotiated in secret, but have not been voted on in secret.
Secondly, it's really sad that conservatism has fallen so far that it can no longer defend free trade -- a foundational point of conservatism and the one thing that created almost all of the prosperity of the past 50+ years!
I was trying to surmise a reason as to why Paul Ryan would be doing what he's doing. But I do find him using the same argument that Pelosi used a bit annoying.
Andrew,

"these deals have been negotiated in secret, but have not been voted on in secret."
That is what's disturbing.
"it's really sad that conservatism has fallen so far that it can no longer defend free trade -- a foundational point of conservatism and the one thing that created almost all of the prosperity of the past 50+ years!"
That is what's depressing.
Kit, That is what is depressing. Free trade is so easy to sell, but no one seems to know how any more. :(
Andrew,
How would you make the argument for it?
Kit - I get that they are negotiated in secret. Heck ALL of our legislation is negotiated in backrooms. But as Andrew points out, they are never VOTED on in secret. I will add this, never voted on in secret unless there is some compelling reason of national security threat. Paul Ryan is delusional if he thinks this is in any way acceptable. That goes for Boehner and McConnell too.
I just read the Drudge headline and the Bigs article it's linked to. The article doesn't support Drudge's headline. It's a misleading paraphrase. Ryan said the deal would be made public after it was hammered out (but before it was voted on by the Senate) as has always been the case for trade deals.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/11/paul-ryans-pelosi-esque-obamatrade-moment-its-declassified-and-made-public-once-its-agreed-to/
“By the way, TPA—it’s declassified and made public once it’s agreed to,” Ryan said.
What Ryan is technically referring to is that TPP will become public if TPA is agreed to—but Congress will lose much of its ability to have oversight over and influence on the process, since TPP is, in many respects, already negotiated. It’s 800 pages long, and on fast-track, Congress will only get an up-or-down vote and won’t be able to offer amendments. The Senate vote threshold also drops down to a simple majority rather than normally having a 60-vote threshold, or in the case of treaties, a 67-vote threshold.
Anthony, Why am I not surprised? One thing I've learned in the past few years is that you should never trust a Drudge headline. A great many of his headlines are wrong or misleading and some are even backwards of reality.
Or HuffPo headlines either. But in my defense, I did read the articles that said the same thing...
OT: This ==> LINK is hilarious!
Apparently, the head of the Spokane, Washington chapter of the NAACP isn't actually a CP... er, black. She is a honkey (or is it honkette?) who has been pretending to be black.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
BTW, there's an article on the Bad News Bears and childhood at the film site. :D
Andrew - it's not funny!!! She's "Trans-racial"...yeah, it's a thing. Well, it's about be a thing! Think about it. If Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner can choose his/her gender then why can't someone choose their race?
I am always amazed at the lightening speed that Liberals will dump "science" when it suits their narrative.
Doesn't shock me. An early leader of the NAACP named Walter White was very mixed (for the purposes of the law, black) and most people including the KKK members whose meetings he infiltrated, viewed the blonde haired, blue eyed man as a white guy with a tan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Francis_White
Race isn't exactly something you choose, but its rarely something people get called out for because there is so much intermixture going on and its hard to look at some people and decide who their ancestors were.
That being said, the fact she lied will probably cost her her job even if she is a liberal in good standing (which is what is really important to the NAACP).
Anthony - So far the NAACP is standing by her. I am guessing that they really have no choice. The P.R. fallout could be interesting though. It's hard to determine at this stage whether she has continued to lie because she was delusional or cunning. Apparently she has her degree from Howard and won scholarships based on her racial orientation.
We have a doctor in my old Air Guard Wing who is black, but he will tell you that socially he is white, he just doesn't identify with the black experience. He will also point out a young white airman, who was raised in an all black high school, who the doctor says is more black than him. BTW, the airman actually thinks of himself as black...
BTW, As long as it's now cool to pretend to be black, I want this hair: Jim Kelly Awesome Afro
Talk about impressive hair!
