I pay a whole lot of taxes ... too much really. But I am tired, have travelled a long way and am happy to be home. So, I think I'll get into the Masters, and since this is an open thread, mention the following albums as being quite good: Mark Knopfler's "Privateering", Richard Thompson's "Electric," and Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell's album "Old Yellow Moon." :)
I thought Hannity's getting together of a bunch of black conservatives to whine about liberals being unfair to them was hilariously pathetic.
They preached victimhood instead of personal responsibility, called blacks who disagreed with them slaves and then whined that people who disagreed with them called them slaves.
And don't even get me started on Jesse Lee 'Thank God for Slavery' Petersen.
No matter what color their spokesmen are, the Republicans aren't going to make much headway in the black community until they start focusing on conservatism and personal responsibility.
Andrew.....At this point, I just think the Obama's just don't care anymore what ANYONE thinks of them. He knows he will never be held accountable for ANYTHING, or even asked about it. So he goes along playing the Preezy. Ms. Preezy probably thinks along the lines of "If I have to put up with all these white people around me, then I am going to maximize my current position and get the most out of it that I possibly can. F@$# everyone. I'm going to enjoy all the perks of the office. Beyonce, concerts, awesome vacays. I just wish Barry didn't have to do his damn politics every now and then."
After the last campaign, I really think he and his people were thinking if they could continue to get away with all the crap they were throwing, and counting on their minions to protect them. Goes to show you 1) How weak the opposition is, and 2) How sycophantic the media and other politicians are to him.
This will all change of course once a Repub gets back in the White House. I just hope this group hasn't f'ed up this country so much that we won't be able to recover. Your Obama tax storyline above is a prime example of the media and most Americans shrugging their shoulders at the utter hypocrisy and disdain this asshole shows to the rest of us.
What's needed is another revolution to get this country back to the values and morals that made it great once. But who is going to do it....?
Anthony, conservatives in the media have really left it up to the public to figure out what "conservative" means on their own. They practically make a point of not stating their beliefs at every opportunity. Which makes those of us on the ground defending conservative look like idiots when we try to tell anyone "you've got it all wrong, conservatives actually believe _________."
It looks like we're inventing it as we go along b/c the guys with a platform aren't backing it up. That's part of the reason I think everyday conservatives need to drop the name. Those with an audience who claim the title have defined it differently than the rest of us.
Alternatively, the relative few who do try to define it always define it as a hard philosophy. The use it as bragging-rights to claim they are so much smarter than non-conservatives. But that's a turn-off, too, not b/c people pride themselves at being lazy, but b/c people believe a political philosophy should be easy to understand, common sense. And there's no reason why conservatism can't be distilled to a few common sense nuggets for that purpose, but too many talkers claim it can't be done.
I could go on and on like this but I'll stop myself now.
Anthony, I didn't see it, but I don't need to have seen it to know exactly what you are talking about. Conservatism has become a victim mentality and that needs to change if we ever want to win the public over again.
Patriot, Aside from the damage done by Obamacare, Obama really hasn't changed anything. Everything he's done is superficial. So undoing his reign will take about ten minutes worth of executive orders... and then the repeal of Obamacare. The problem is that right now the Republicans have little chance of returning to the White House because we're headed in the wrong direction and picking up speed. Burning gays at the stake is not an agenda... it's a sickness.
There's no room for sarcasm in the modern world Max. We're too busy dealing with vital issues like two meaningless celebrities who took a trip to Cuba. Earth... shattering! ;P
Andrew......Re your earlier post about commenting on your Agenda2016 treatise.....Sure, sign me up. Let me know how to communicate with you offline. I'm new to this Blogger stuff
Max, I doubt there would be much of a firestorm. I don't see anybody really caring about Cuba these days. And while I'm sure some leftists would run with it as evidence of hypocrisy, I don't see it being meaningful to anyone.
But yeah, use your sarcasm now... it will be banned soon as bullying or a hate crime or leading to obesity.
Nope nobody cares about that armpit. But keep in mind the same press went nuts over a guy drinking water. They will scream and hoop and holler, well I'm not listing now. Why would I want to change. I figured out how to get Youtube on my Roku box. I even watched an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea(that show was better than I remember). With those kind of options, CNN is going to have to have live shots of Godzilla stomping Tokyo, before I come back;).
Wasn't it last week there were stories about the growing number people who do not watch regular TV. When your house is burning down, you don't sit around and talk about it. That's how the press looks these days. One day they are going wake up and wonder what happened(I'm sure that happening now). But it wont be their fault(never is).
Max, The MSM is always desperate to turn anything Republicans do into a scandal, but no one cares. Basically, you can't manufacture a scandal around things the public doesn't care about.
As for "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," I love that show! I watched it as a kid and then recently a couple years ago on Hulu. Lots of fun!

My tax rate was actually higher than turds.

Jed, I'm a big fan of Knopfler.
I think many of the perks should also count as income. Of course he would owe something like $30,000,000 in taxes.
I'm fine with that. It would count for anyone else. Besides, his followers can bail him out. They just have to learn to live with less.
"It's patriotic to pay taxes so shut up. You're lucky we don't make you sing the national anthem before filing."
Joe "Benito" Biden
That's another guy who needs to be eaten by wolves... or chickens.
And why isn't he in jail after his motorcade of death days?

Max, That's the motto of our system, isn't it? The only people paying taxes are honest conservatives with jobs. Everybody else skips out.
BTW, Is anybody interesting in providing feedback on the Agenda2016 book?
How about, "High taxes for me, free money for thee".
Isn't that backwards?
Not if you're Warren Buffet.
Nah, Buffett says, "Credit for demanding high taxes for me... taxes I will avoid... and free money for my companies."
I was referring to our current situation.
With a bit of sarcasm.
There's no room for sarcasm in the modern world Max. We're too busy dealing with vital issues like two meaningless celebrities who took a trip to Cuba. Earth... shattering! ;P
Imagine the firestorm if a Republican approved that trip.
I guess it's ok, since a Dem blocked Cuba in the first place.
I figure I had better use all the sarcasm I can before they ban it's use.
