Liberals Exposing Themselves...

Liberals are fascinating creatures. Their instincts are all wrong. It's like their minds are wired backwards. Anyways, there have been a couple articles lately in which liberals have exposed the twisted reasoning that clouds their thinking. I thought I'd point some of this out.

Knee Jerk My Butt

By now you've heard about the crash of the Germanwings airline. The critical facts, for our purpose, are that the copilot locked the pilot out of the cockpit when the pilot left to use the bathroom and the pilot could not get back in. The pilot had a code which was supposed to let him back into the cockpit, but the copilot disabled it. And since the door was reinforced, the pilot was unable to break into the cockpit after that, even though he used an axe to try to break through the door. Those are the facts.

Enter the liberal.

The liberal in question is an aviation expert from Britain, named Philip Baum, who writes for Aviation Security International. His telling comment was this: "The ill-thought reinforced cockpit door has had catastrophic consequences." Apparently, in Philip's mind, creating a situation where pilots can keep terrorists out of the cockpit is an "ill-thought" idea, which he describes as "a knee-jerk reaction to the events of 9/11." Think about what this means. It means that Philip thinks it is safer to leave an unsecured door which terrorists can access than it is to trust the pilots to lock the door. Translation: he trusts terrorists more than he does pilots.

Not surprisingly, everything else Philip says is wrong too. For example, contrary to what Philip asserts, the problem here wasn't that the cockpit door was reinforced. The problem was that there wasn't a way to prevent the copilot from locking out the pilot. And that actually has a simple solution: require at least two pilots to stay in the cockpit at all times... as US law but not EU law requires. Philip is wrong to call this a knee-jerk reaction too. This decision was made after a serious and lengthy debate involving everyone in the industry with many proposals offered and most rejected.

It should be shocking that Philip would trust terrorist more than pilots, but it really doesn't. Liberals routinely believe the public should just submit to the whims of the bad guys rather than risk "making things worse" by trying to stop them. Interestingly though, in anything other than dealing with criminals or terrorists, liberals advocate blind faith in experts.

Liberals Have Souls?

Right after the election in Israel, Politico published an article about the defeat of the Israeli left titled "Is Israel Losing Its Soul?" This title alone tells you the problem with liberals: they don't see elections as being a competition of ideas, they see elections as a choice between good and evil, with a victory by the opposition "disfiguring the future" and costing the country "its soul."

Interestingly, the same writer later in the article hypocritically attacks the voters for seeing the election in religious terms, calling Likud a "religious movement." So voting based on a religious preference is wrong, but voting for the opposition will destroy the country's soul.

Anyway, the real money quote is this: "Although, in their everyday lives Israelis are dynamic, creative, vibrant and optimistic, people who crave social justice and affordable housing and cheaper consumer goods—the good life—once in the voting booth they act from a deep sense of fear, of existential angst." In other words, Israels are happy leftists until they get to the voting booth. And what makes them vote the polar opposite of their real views? The right tricks them into fearing for their lives.

The first stupid assumption in this is that the public really is on their side. I've heard this for decades from leftists (and now the right-wing fringe) with any number of excuses given for why this never proves to be true. As football coaches say, the reality is that you are only as good as the score says you are... but liberals don't believe this. Secondly, notice that this statement completely sidesteps the question of why these people don't trust the left to protect them. Seriously, what this liberal is saying is that "the public shares our view, they're just afraid that we'll get them killed." Finally, it ignores the fact that there is an existential threat to Israel.

There was a similar comment in an article about gays voting for the far-right in France. In the article, a leftist who was horrified at the trend tried to explain it away by saying that gays have been made to fear "alleged intolerance" from Muslims. Isn't it interesting that direct threats, religious doctrine that calls for the murder of gays, random attacks, and gays being thrown off roofs is "alleged intolerance," but those same liberals love to claim that Christians who do none of that pose a genuine threat to gays?

It's Never Been So Bad!

Finally, in one of the many articles discussing Obama's Mideast failures, the AP interviewed Suzanne Maloney, a foreign policy talking head at the liberal Brookings Institution. She noted that "the mood here is that we really are at a crisis point that is unprecedented in recent memory." She then added the money quote: "This feels more intense and more complicated [than past moments of turmoil.]" In other words, Obama is facing worse problems than anyone else has faced.

Liberals love to exaggerate their challenges. To them, every challenge they face is new, unheard of and could not have been predicted... even though everyone else warned them. Of course, this is never true. And let me tell you that it's ridiculous to say that Obama is facing more complex problems than those faced by other presidents since Eisenhower. Obama's problems are no different than any of his predecessors, nor are they more complex. The problem is that his preferred solutions don't work. In fact, that is what "complex" really means to a liberal: that their solutions don't seem to be working.

By the way, in another telling quote, a State Department official said: "The truth is, you can dwell on Yemen, or you can recognize that we’re one agreement away from a game-changing, legacy-setting nuclear accord on Iran that tackles what every one agrees is the biggest threat to the region." This is a telling quote too. It shows the liberal mindset that they deserve to be considered a success, so long as even part of what they are doing succeeds. This is a very common argument position among liberals even though it's ridiculous. It's like arguing that your A in math justifies ignoring the four F's you got in your other classes.

Anyways, I thought you might find these quotes interesting. They highlight the bizarre and stupid assumptions behind the moronic ideas liberals spout.

In America when a party loses, a favorite excuse is that the opposition catered to the worst instincts of the public (especially when the winner is the party in power). Looks like Israel is no different.

Andrew.....Perfect take on the liberal mind-set. Don't forget their excuses for minority failure (ignoring the highly successful minorities in the military, business and arts) that the only reason whites get ahead is because of (wait for it, it's the newest argument that whites must refute) 'white privilege.'

A young female relative is espousing this now as the reason why minorities need help from the government. Because those Appalachian unemployed white coal miners have white privilege. That's why they're doing so much better than any minority group out there amiright?!

Liberalism is a mental least the new liberals are crazy. There's no pragmatism in their thought processes....

1. The issue really isn't whether the cockpit door was reinforced or not. The issue, once again, is allowing a known, crazy, mentally unstable, wackjob pilot to BE in the cockpit at all. The fact that he was unfit to fly even a paper airplane and his doctors KNEW it, but were precluded by law to tell anyone.

2. Israelis aren't stupid. They really DO have an existential threat. Except, liberals and ardent supporters of the BDS movement, see Israel as threat to human rights and Netanyahu as the perpetrator. Well, it would be any leader of Israel really. Netanyahu has not said anything...ANYTHING, that any other leader of Israel has not said before. Do you think that Golda Meir was some sweet little old gray haired lady who back down to harsh words? Hell, no...the difference is that we have a global viewing stand now...

I will get to #3 later...but Liberals are stupid and shortsighted. They are intellectually unable to see consequences of their own actions.

Anthony, True, but the psychological trauma and messianic view of the election is a leftist specialty... "oh, the world has ended!" They are the ones who routinely end up therapy whenever they lose an election.

AndrewPrice said...

Critch, I absolutely see it as at least a mental defect, but more like a mental illness. Their ability to swallow contradictions and to see elections in such stark terms really suggests to me that their brains are misfiring. Indeed, if you took their thought process on politics and allowed the same errors in the mental process associated with running a restaurant, for example, then the authorities would lock them up as being insane and out of touch with reality.

Bob, I absolutely hate that excuse. My parents worked their way up from living in a trailer park. They never once ran into the slightest bit of privilege. Yet, they never turned to drugs or crime and they never whined that the system was against them. Of course parts of the system are against you... that's life! You go around those and find a different path. You don't stop and cry that it's unfair!

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Agreed.

1. The one issue this was not was the reinforced door. The real problem was the crazy copilot who shouldn't have been allowed near a plain. But again, notice that this guy would rather than people are vulnerable to terrorists than pilots. That's liberal idiocy for you.

2. I agree. Israelis are facing an existential threat and they know it. And pretending it's not there is not something anyone can risk. I find it amazing too how liberals time and again blame the victim when it comes to issues like this. Israel is not the one threatening to wipe out its neighbors.

BTW, I think you have a virus. Please see my comment under your last article.

The Left would rather Israel was destroyed in a nuclear cloud so they can cry tears for the Jews...and blame George Bush.

BevfromNYC said...

Btw, I am looking into the virus thing. Obviously do NOT open anything I send you...just delete it. Sorry about the bother.

Given Obama's foreign policy record I think the "I inherited a bad situation" will be a legitimate excuse for his successor.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, No bother. I just wanted you to know. :)

What's funny about your #3 is that they miss the obvious that Obama has had six years to solve problems. So if things are worse now than ever... it's Obama's fault!

AndrewPrice said...

Critch, I sometimes wonder if that's true or if the truly believe it can't happen. I just don't know.

AndrewPrice said...

Kit, That will be absolutely a legitimate excuse.

Both sides in recent times have deluded themselves about the implications of elections. I suspect in the past Republicans were more restrained because winning it all wasn't in the cards. Now it is and they are as likely to win everything (including Congress) they are just as likely to go into hysterics about victory (we've crafted a permanent majority!) and defeat (victory was impossible due to the stupidity of voters and the evil of our opponents!).

Is anyone else just tired of the Obama blame game? One things that I have learned from years of...well... working is that laying blame does not get the issue corrected or get the job done.

I don't think that anyone expected Obama to "solve the problems", but neither did anyone expect him to make them exponentially worse. Working with Congress could have helped, But blaming Republicans and Democrats is so much easier...makes better sound bites anyway.

AndrewPrice said...

Anthony, I would agree with that, but I think the reason isn't whether or not they can win so much as it is just the increased partisanship. Both sides have blinded themselves to the fact that they represent ever fewer Americans.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I'm sick of hearing that from liberals. Nothing is ever their fault, but boy did they try their best to be good people... unlike the evil Republicans. I'm sick of that idiocy.

Andrew....Here's another brain teaser. Look at Indiana. A relatively inane, pablum, look-me-too law was passed (RFLA?) and immediately there are hundreds of protesters with professionally made signs camped out on the capital steps.

Where do these people come from and don't they have anything better to do?! Maybe there really is a vast left-wing conspiracy out there ready to divert attention on a moments notice. Camera-ready for the offense du jour.

Whaddya think?

Koshcat said...

i was thinking about the reaction to Indiana from Liberals as well. There is nothing in the law that singles out homosexuals but I do believe a private company has a right to refuse service. Let's take this to the next level, as many mouth breathers do, and look at the idea of refusing to serve a black customer. No matter how wrong that decision is, the private owner has the right to do this. And we all have the right to not patron his establishment. In a world based primarily on economics, this idiot would shut out a significant number of customers opening up the opportunity for someone more inclusive to open a competing establishment. In time the market will fix the problem and is the most effective voting system.

Based on the reaction to Indiana one would think gays are being rounded up into concentration camps. Yet it is similar to laws in both federal and 19 states. The reason the states have enacted their own laws is due to a Supreme Court decision that stated federal law did not apply to state laws.

As typical with these people, rather than an open honest discussion, they resort to hyperbole and aggressive tactics. So not only must you accept the idea of homosexuality and the right to government blessed institutions (marriage) but you must also accept that gay rights supersede all other rights including and especially the right to disagree.
