Kelly, Asian kids are exempt from self-esteem under California law. They're forced to find their self-esteem in achievement rather than platitudes. So Obama is technically free to mock her.
Kelly, Of course, we can't rule out the possibility that Obama is not mocking her, that instead, she perhaps used a rather large word and Obama is just stunned.

Well, I did it. My in-laws, bless their souls, are Fox-watching, Obama-Hating conservatives. Good people. I challenged them on what have the Republican's in general and Romney specifically offered to the American people. Long story-short this lead to some yelling and anger, but I think I sparked a small light in my father-in-laws head. Basically, their arguments were pretty typical and frankly I agree with them (especially about Obama being a crook). I explained that we have focused so much on hating Obama that we haven't done any looking in the mirror and see if part of the problem is us. Looking back, the democrats did the same thing with the re-election of Bush. They hated him sooo much they were just certain everyone did to.
*sigh* When will we (I include myself in this) learn from history.
Koshcat, I feel your pain! I've had this discussion with many people by now and most eventually get it, but not before they throw a lot of anger and hopelessness at me.
Fortunately, I'm seeing more evidence each day that people are finally getting that we do need to do more than just point fingers at Obama. I'm hopeful.
As for learning from history, good question. The human race seems largely incapable of doing that for some reason.

I liked it better when we had Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays celebrated for what they were.

Tom, I have a hard time seeing BO as president as well. To me, he's just some jerk I have to put up with until we can get a replacement.
