Okay, I think that I have said this before and I think it was sometime around April 2009, but I am going to go out on a limb again. It looks like the MSM just may be getting it. By "it", I mean, they may just be catching on how they are being played by the Obama Administration.It all started a few weeks ago when the WH Press Corps was frozen out of those special photo ops of our President playing golf with Tiger Woods or Tiger Woods' coach. Actually we will never know exactly who he was playing golf with, but then that's not really the point is it?
So as a result of the lack of access, the Press Corps had time while sitting on their bus outside the golf course to turn their attention to other times where the WH has denied them access. They started commiserating on how many times his Press Secretaries Gibbs and Carney have side-stepped their direct questions and how the President just never answers any unrehearsed questions at all.
As I see it, the Obama command center forgot one of the fundamental rules of propaganda. Keep the Press fat and happy with useless information and deflections, so they don't have time to look around for the truth. Well, and they miscalculated that sometimes the lies coming out of the WH are just so obvious that even the fat and happy WH Press Corps can't ignore them.
For those of you who have been following the brou-haha between seasoned journalist Bob Woodward and WH Propaganda Minister of Truth Gene Sparling, it has been quite entertaining. But just in case you have been away, let me catch you up really quickly. As we all know, President Obama has flying around the country, telling everyone who would listen that if he cannot get the evil Republicans to call off the pending results would be catastrophic. So, smelling a rat, the intrepid Bob Woodard published an Op/Ed piece in the Washington Post six days ago calling out the President for repeatedly insinuating that the WH had nothing to do with the sequestration when in fact, it was Obama's idea.
Well, right on cue, the WH went on the defensive literally calling Woodward and screaming at him for daring to call the President out and "threatening" Woodward with exile. What ensued was a "he said, but didn't mean" public drubbing that was pure classic Obama deflection. The WH called on all of their MSM loyalists to take out Woodward. But something happened on the way to MSNBC and Polico. They starting to catch on with how they were being played. The argument the WH was asking them to make was not about whether Woodward was right on the facts of his Op/Ed piece, but whether Woodward was actually threatened by Sperling. Eureka!
So, then on Sunday, they started calling Sperling out on the facts:

In terms if the press corp, I wouldn't be so quick to think that they are getting it so much as they are trying to threaten Obama now by letting him know that if he doesn't deliver the leftism they want, they can and will turn against him.
Andrew - Don't harsh my mellow, man! I WANT to believe that they will at least start doing their job in separating truth from fiction. Heck I'm not even asking that they route out the lies! Why ask for the moon when we have the stars...at least one twinkling star very far away.
Anyway, from the many articles I've read, the news reporting industry as a whole is getting really nersvous and annoyed that their jobs are in jeopardy and soon they will be irrelevant. Obama repeatedly turns to "social media" [Twitter, Facebook, Jon Stewart et al, blogs etc.] to further message and his causes and is leaving the WH Press Corps and the press in general out of the loop. It is obvious that Obama does not like his authority, his message, or his causes to be questioned. And Press may need to start reclaiming their relevance for shear survival!
Bev, That would be interesting. It's always a mistake to mistreat your friends and Obama does seem to be quite good at mistreating his friends. The only question I have is if that will be enough to get them to act? I'm just not sure. But you could be right that the fear of job losses combining with his treating them as enemy outsiders and going around them rather than taking advantage of the things they offer him could well result in an attitude change that could lead them to finally start doing their jobs.
I'd like to join Bev in her mellow, but I'm kinda afraid that this is a case of a broken clock being right twice a day...
Definitely the broken clock thing. Heck, even Woodward got caught up in distracting folks from his own op-ed. How's that for being mired in it?

Tryanmax - you are right that Woodwood got caught up in the distraction and has even downplayed the "threat" by saying he didn't say that at all. Hopefully there will be more incidences like on "Meet The Press" where the parties are actually forced to answer questions about the facts portion of the exercise and not the distraction to cover.
I still don't trust those crybabies. He'll give them a hug and just like a repeatedly battered wife will return to him for more abuse.

Are you trying to start something or is it just a hormone inbalance?
In general I agree that you will see more tiffs between MSM and the White House. They have nothing to gain from protecting The ONE, especially those with a shread of integrity (Woodward). However, this will conflict with their love affair and the hippi orgy fest they have enjoyed. It should be at least interesting if not entertaining.

Kit - Oh, Napolitano. Does she not think we can check these things out? Oh, and she has said that there will be more illegals released from custody because INS suddenly just doesn't have the money to keep them locked. (Yet we still have Cowboy Poetry Festivals) They released about 2000 last week with the promise that they would all check back regularly with the INS. But Janet didn't know anything about the release. I guess she's been debriefed for the new releases.
It's actually pretty scary what they are doing. Obama et al. are going out of their way to punish us because we aren't playing along.
BTW, Napolitano is back tracking on her airport lone statement. Now she says it is only the International customs lines that are much longer. They can't even get their fear mongering straight.
I think there is a break in the Old Guard Dems such as Woodward and Lannie Davis who probably are embarassed by what travels as news in the Drive By press thess days and the young ones such as WAPO's Esra Klein.
The tweets on the Bigs regarding Woodward as used a washed up and people can't wait for him to die so they can dish the dirt on him are telling.
