No.

Just kidding. Let me explain my thoughts. And to do that, let me start by saying that I’m not a believer in any of the retardisms that have beset the talk radio “genoooine conservative” movement:
The people who told him he is always right are the friends he made along the way, who are elitist liberals who liked the idea of having an educated black friend. They taught him that being "enlightened" requires one to have a “nuanced” view of America. “Nuanced,” in this case means always balancing good with bad and bad with good to reach a “fair” result. Unfortunately, this idea also is debilitating because it makes it impossible to judge right from wrong. What's more, having been taught that it takes nuance to be enlightened, his friends taught him to look down upon average Americans, who they assured him are not nuanced thinkers and must be led to enlightenment.
The result of this is that Obama is a man who lacks an emotional connection to America and its people, whom he views as backwards and dangerous. As a result of this, he does not trust average Americans and he feels he must constantly rein them in. He is likewise indecisive because he can’t properly evaluate right and wrong, so he defaults to letting events settle themselves while lecturing us not to judge the situation. And finally, because of his arrogance and quasi-narcissism, he has no tolerance for criticism.
That’s Obama for you. He’s a man who doesn’t love American because he doesn’t love anything. He only knows that he is the smartest man in the room, that separating right and wrong is nearly impossible, and that the American public is dangerous.

Just kidding. Let me explain my thoughts. And to do that, let me start by saying that I’m not a believer in any of the retardisms that have beset the talk radio “genoooine conservative” movement:
(1) Obama is not a Muslim, secret or otherwise. To the contrary, he strikes me quite clearly as an agnostic. Evidence? He is never seen worshiping. He has never demonstrated even the slightest knowledge of the tenants of any religion. In fact, whenever he talks about religions, he demonstrates a massive degree of ignorance. He also never makes religious references. And when he does talk religion, he speaks in rational third-person terms that belie a lack of emotional connection. Basically, his cold tone, his words and his ignorance suggest that religion is not part of his life and that he sees religion essentially as a crutch other people rely upon.So what is Obama and how do I know he doesn’t love America? Obama is a guy who found himself at Harvard based on racial preferences. He apparently didn’t bother to learn anything, but instead took advantage of the condescending racism of white liberals who kept passing him along and patting him on the head telling him how great he was despite his lack of effort or skill. Essentially, he is the product of social promotion and, consequently, he suffers from a severe lack of skills combined with a near-narcissistic belief in his own abilities... after all, everyone has always told him he is right.
(2) Obama is not a communist sleeper created by the Boogeyman Saul Alinsky or any other communist, terrorist or whack job ‘60’s radical. All the evidence overwhelmingly suggests that Obama is someone who generally leans left in the sense of believing in big government, but has no actual ideology to speak of. Not only has he never been able to enunciate an ideology, but he’s proven to be entirely detached when it comes to crafting an agenda... he can't even outline his ideas in a broad sense. Frankly, he’s just not smart enough or dedicated enough to have an ideology.
(3) Obama is not a black radical. He might not even be a racist actually. How do I know? Because I have more black friends than Obama does. Indeed, I can’t think of any black friends Obama has. All the friends of his of which we are aware are married, white couples with elitist pedigrees. And the few blacks in his administration were already in the Democratic system when he appointed them.
The people who told him he is always right are the friends he made along the way, who are elitist liberals who liked the idea of having an educated black friend. Sounds about right.
Andrew, I think even the left-leaning Sigmund Freud would have a hard time disagreeing with your conclusions.
BTW, just how did you get the Not-So-Artful Narcissist to sit on the couch long enough for a proper psychoanalysis? A couch lined with ego-soothing fine Corinthian leather?
(Hey, we haven't had enough Star Trek references lately.)
And since the current Prez clearly has no love for America, I offer some true love for the land of E Pluribus Unum.
(The anniversary was yesterday, but I wanted to wait for an active weekday thread.)
35 years ago...Uncle's Sam's Boys vs. the Big Red Machine.
"Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"
Though the circumstances that led him to office are distinct, personality-wise Obama just seems like a garden variety liberal American academic to me.
Going back to at least Roosevelt's Brain Trust, there is a long history of Democrats having tremendous faith in liberal academic types.
Such academics are theoretically dedicated to fairness and perspective, but tend to harp on American's sins and downplay everyone else's.
Academic types normally stand very little chance of winning election, but Obama was more charismatic than most and his race (the stereotypes associated with blacks run almost directly counter those associated with academics) and athleticism meant that in 2008 when he had no real record, he wasn't vulnerable to having the yolk of wimp put around his neck.
Couple that with a weak field (Hillary and Edwards) and the fact voters were sick of Republicans...
I have always felt Obama's religion was "statism". His charisma came from the fact he has a great baritone voice and can read a speech really well. It is when he is caught unguarded he reveals he is little more than a community organizer. Anthony is right, there is a reverence for ivy league liberals. I don't think he is a rascist. He grew up at a time when black kids were made to feel bad about themselves, and aspired to escape by becoming "white" a la O.J. He may have some resentment for that, but I think he is largely a product of the system you described, Andrew.
He is the supreme opportunist, he will be whatever it takes to get elected....I agree on his religion, I doubt he has any. He's not a commie, he's not even a Democrat, he's just a politician. He loves his view of what he wants America to be and is willing to give lip-service to all sorts of people as long as he gets his way..I remember him talking about enacting more gun laws with the usual crap the left throws out about respecting the 2nd Amendment,,,he just lies to get his way and frankly, the majority of the media just go along...
Excellent assessments, AP & Co., and let's also not forget the President's favorite (only?) time to bask in something American is almost upon us: going on ESPN to announce his March Madness bracket picks.
Thanks Kit. It makes sense to me and it fits what I see.
Rustbelt, That was an awesome moment. I still remember seeing it.
On Obama, there is always a bigger margin of error when just observing from a distance, but I think that watching Obama for six-plus years, there are certain things that become obvious.
Anthony, In most ways, that is Obama exactly - a liberal academic. He shares the mindset, the detachment, and the arrogance sense that he is superior and thus should be leading the rest of us.
In a real commie revolution he would be one of the first to go....once the useful idiots have used up all their usefulness; off to the Gulag you go..
Personally, I believe he is a narcissist. I believe this because he can't and won't work with anyone who disagrees with him. Super-liberal Ted Kennedy even worked out deals with republicans. He can't work well with others because either he doesn't know how or he believes that working with the opposition legitimizes their position which he completely dismisses.
He may not be a communist sleepy but I would bet if he was pressed on why communism doesn't work he would state that is because it really hasn't been given a chance.
I am still amazed that someone like him got elected. No real experience and no real idealogy. People do funny things. It is amazing that Hitler got as far as he did when you consider that he didn't have much either. I am not comparing Obama to Hilter as people or personalities just the idea that when you compare how they came to power to someone like Churchhill. It is baffling.
Jed, I agree. I think Obama's "faith" is in the power of government to remake the world. That said, I don't think he really knows how he would change the world except in super-broad strokes like "give people healthcare."
Critch, I think that's very accurate. He's not a communist or a democrat or anything else, he's an Obamaist. He sees politics as his destiny and his opportunity. Beyond that, he doesn't really have much in the way of views or loyalty.
Thanks Eric! It's interesting you should say that. Just about the only time Obama ever feels at ease with the public is when he's talking about sports. I'll have to think about what that means.
Critch, LOL! Absolutely. Obama is absolutely one of those people who thinks he'll be drafted by the revolutionaries, only to discover that he's seen as a danger and will be "disappeared" the moment the real revolution comes.
Koshcat, He could be a true narcissist. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if that were the case. He certainly shows the traits of a narcissist.
I would bet if he was pressed on why communism doesn't work he would state that is because it really hasn't been given a chance.
I agree. This is actually a very standard response from most of the liberals I know. That said, however, they rarely actually understand what they are talking about and they even more rarely understand communism. I think Obama lies in that camp, with not actual knowledge of how a communist or even socialist system would work. I just don't see any evidence that he's ever thought about any of that other than in the broadest of strokes.
Oh, come on! Obama is just "nuanced". He's the most "nuanced" leader of any world. He's so "nuanced" that one can't really tell what he knows or believes because what he says is so malleable that his PR departments can easily manipulate his words to mean just about anything they need them to mean. You remember when the whole "If you like your doctor (insurance) you can keep your doctor (insurance), that turned out to be a 4 Pinnochio lie. That was explained away with a simple change of "definition" - "can" really meant "may be able"...that's what he meant to say...32 times.
Or, may he just doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time, so he has to be hedge his bets so no one can actually point to anything in which he ends up on the wrong side of history.
Bev, He is indeed the king of nuance. In fact, he's so nuanced that one might conclude he's simply incapable of ever reaching a decision.
And yeah, you never want to be on the wrong side of history.
Bev and Andrew-
Just to let you know, when you call Obama "nuanced" this is in fact a code word for the other "n" word. I shall do my duty and report you to the proper authorities. Re-education camps for both of you.
tdub1941 - Sorry about that. Sometimes Blogger just eats posts for no real reason. Well, there probably IS a reason, but I can't find it except to say that I know from experience it is always my most profound and brilliant insights that get eaten by Blogger.
Nuanced-nuisance, what's in a few letters?
Koshcat - I am duly warned, but I thought any kind of reference to Obama that does not come with unconditional praise was the code for that...looks like we have ourselves another "Enigma" code problem...
Bev, tdub was just spam.
Critch, Excellent observation! :D
Koshcat and Bev, I would never use the "n-word" in public. After all, "neuter" is such an ugly word.
"Neuter" - that is funny.
Maybe we can make a game of how many N-words we can come up with to describe our leader. (Do not use the following as they cause too much confusion or anger: Nazi, Niggardly, Nappy):
Nuanced
Nuisance
Narcissist
Neutered
Nincompoop
Nancy-boy
Narc
Naïve
Nauseating
Neanderthal
Negligent
Neurotic
Nonplussed
Nutty
But my favorite word I learned today to describe: Naif.
Narcotizing
Nanocephalic
Newsy (prone to friendly informal communication)
Nitwit
Nilpotent (equal to zero when raised to a certain power)
Okay, I am using a great list of "N" adjectives...LINK
Koshcat, Excellent list! I see them all applying, especially negligent, nincompoop, nancy-boy and nauseating! LOL!
Bev, Nanocephalic is awesome, if it means what I think it means.
It means exactly what one would think - having an abnormally small head and underdeveloped brain
Whoops. I was thinking lower. Perhaps I was thinking nanophallic?
That's excellent!
