Finally We Can Put This Controversy To Rest!

Of all the great controversies that have confounded humankind for generations, nothing could be more perplexing and wrought with strife than this one. How many wars have been started and how many families have been broken apart over this all-important issue? This is serious business. Come on, you know that you have had this argument at least once in your life. Admit it. What is this all important issue? Without further adieu...Drumroooooooollll, please....

Which way the toilet paper should roll out of the toilet roll - over or under?

Well, now this issue can finally be put to rest. After years of fighting and gnashing and rolls of two-ply Charmin flying across the bathroom, some wise person finally thought to just look up the patent.

Now THIS is truly a settled science. Let's us never speak of this again...

But if you want to speak of other issues, be my guest.

Bev, I believe this is why Yemen has broken up. Half the population says hang it over the front, the other half tries to eat it. :(

Andrew,

You are probably right.

I'm usually hanging it in a panic after having realized just as I finished taking a crap that I'm out of toilet paper and then searched for a spare roll in a panic so sometimes it's over sometimes it's under.

If the paper has Obama's picture on it, you can only use it effectively if it's "over" instead of "under". I think that I might have solved one of Earth's long-standing disputes with that one bit of logic.

See! Now we can all take a breather before we solve the other 100 million bagillion problems mostly created by the Obama Administration...;-D

and then you have my sons who don't like refilling the paper roll in any way, shape or fashion.

AndrewPrice said...

Critch, Ours seem to like the "if there's even half a sheet left, then I don't need to change it" plan.

On a less serious point, I thought Obama was supposed to fix all the foreign relations Bush ruined and restore our place in the world as the leader of the free world. Isn't it interesting that we have even fewer allies now and I doubt anyone trusts us to do anything anymore.

It looks like the copilot of that plane crashed it deliberately. Sick f*ck.

They said that in Europe, unlike here, they are not required to have at least two pilots at the controls at all times. So when the pilot left, he was able to block the door and crash the plane.

BevfromNYC said...

Andrew - They know it had to be deliberate because there is an override code to the locking mechanism of the cockpit door just in case the pilot/copilot becomes incapacitated while one of them is outside (such as the pilot leaves to the bathroom). However the pilot/co-pilot have a secret override code that keeps the door locked that is activated from the cockpit.

This is going to one interesting profile that will probably be revealed for the co-pilot.

Bev, They've already said he left flightschool for several months because he was depressed. And they said:

1. He sounded angry when the pilot talked about their landing procedures.
2. He disabled the code
3. He was awake and breathing normally for the 8 minutes it took to crash the plane.
4. He began the descent right after locking the pilot left to go to the bathroom..

So it was definitely intentional.

"...and then you have my sons who don't like refilling the paper roll in any way, shape or fashion."

But Critch, maybe they are just confused and afraid of the consequences of getting the roll going in the wrong direction! But now that we have resolved this issue once and for all, they will no longer be afraid. Jut show them the diagram and then you might just see a change in their behavior...;-D

They asked the prosecutor, by the way, if it was a suicide. He said, "When you take 150 lives with you, I don't call it a suicide." I agree with that. If you want to kill yourself... fine, I'll feel sorry for you. When you take innocent people with you, then you're nothing but an f*ing mass murder.

Agree. The prosecutor's statement gives me some hope for Europe. I've seen some remarkably stupid comments coming from European officials.

This event also reminds me of when Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal massacred his entire family, including the King and Queen.

Not this event, but previous events.

Kit, European officials are simply too nuanced to be understood by mere mortals.

I feel so sorry for those family members who lost loved ones in that crash. How sick do you have to be to want to take others out with you?

We have a different sort of toilet paper war going on in our house. My husband likes to keep 2 rolls under the spare bathroom sink for "just in case", however, our daughter is notorious for not replacing them. This past week he finally got tired of having to always replace them himself, so he decided to not leave any toilet paper in the bathroom at all. The next morning he discovered about 6 rolls on the sink and about 10 underneath. She had taken every roll we had in the house and put them in that bathroom. This has been building for some time now. He is always reminding her to replace the toilet paper when she uses the last of it, but she never does. He thought he'd teach her a lesson, but the way she turned things around on him was pretty funny.

AndrewPrice said...

TJ, I do too. It's truly sick.

On the TP war, that is pretty funny! :D

BevfromNYC said...

TJ - that is a problem that is not covered by any patent! We can only solve so many issues here at CommentaramaPolitics...:-D But I like your daughter's style!

Bev, FYI, I think you have a virus. I got some emails from you that seem like they are a virus and they have a strange return address.

Thanks, Bev. She is pretty clever.
