Post-Powerball Mania Open Thread

By the time you read this, I will have won the Powerball lottery and planning what I am going to with all that money after Fed, State, and local tax guys take their hefty cut.

Let's face it, for all of the dreamers who played this lottery, we all have fantasies about what we would do if we suddenly came into so much money that we would never have to worry about paying the bills again. I know what I would do. I would start an employment agency that places people over 50 in meaningful employment, after I went to Disney World. Oh, yeah, and WORLD PEACE! But for the sake of another topic, What would you do?

And if that doesn't interest you...

A lawsuit was filed in NY County yesterday In NY County that caught my eye. A woman has filed a lawsuit against The Feminist Press published by City University of NY claiming "employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Defendants fired plaintiff, the last female employee who identified as lesbian at the Feminist Press, after its executive director said the publication was "too lesbian" and was in need "a change of direction." It is actually reassuring that liberal grievance groups are now beginning to feed on each other.

As always, feel free to change the subject at will.

I would buy some small, lightly populated county and evict everyone....just so I can hunt in peace...I hate 4-wheeler ATVs. The Iranians are in gloat mode right now...Obama can't handle anything..

Alan Rickman died. Sad. RIP

I cannot believe that Alan Rickman died! I am heartbroken. He was one of my favorite British actors. RIP.

Also, I didn't win the lottery, so I have to carry on as best I can.

Rickman was channeling Lee Marvin as Liberty Valence in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Quigley Down Under. Rickman was one of the best, most versatile actors out there...sad day.

On the impending debate tonight - Watch Trump slap down Cruz for his "New York values" crack. Everyone's hair is on fire here because of Cruz' diss.

Op/Eds today were not at all about how Republicans in NY are notoriously liberal socially and fiscally, but all about how great NY is compared to anywhere in the world. Well, except ironically Texas...where Cruz is from. Being a Texan AND a New Yorker, I found this funny. And something the NY Op/Ed'ers failed to mention is that Texas has gained 4 Congressional districts while NY has lost 4 as people are fleeing NY state in record numbers.

Re. that lawsuit, methinks my wife, were she keeping her People subscription, would love to bring action on the seemingly weekly trans-gender and gay stories since the gay editor took over last year. The attempts to normalize aberrant behavior marches on and predictably on ...

I would use the money to bring Alan Rickman back to life and then turn the zombie Rickman loose in congress.

I also think it would be fun to become a supervillian with a volcano lair and sharks with frickin' lasers and do 2 chicks at the same time because if I had a billion dollars I could hook that up.

I dumped my Time Mag subscription 2009 when the editor compared Obama to God. I should have sued...

Koshcat - Did you know that there has actually been a petition started to bring David Bowie back to life. I would go for the same for Alan Rickman.

And it would be really cool to be an evil supervillian with a lair...sorry you didn't win.

This week has sucked so far, news-wise.

And Koshcat; If I had a billion dollars and a time machine the two chicks would be Dolly Parton from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Mimi Rogers from Full Body Massage ;

I'm just unspooling now, but if I had a billion dollars and a time machine I'd go back and have Bruce Lee teach me karate.

My post will come in the afternoon. Still adjusting my Spring semester daily schedule.

If I had a time machine and could go back..well, it guess it would Tuesday Weld and Joey Heatherton. Just sayin'. When you do the piece on Rickman, look at Lee Marvin in the Man Who shot Liberty Valance, after he shoots the guy in the street, strutting around and Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham after stabbing the one guy and also in Quigley after shooting the two deserters,,,I don't remember where I read it, but Rickman idolized Lee Marvin.

Since this is open thread, just a random observation regarding SOTU commentary. There's been a piling-on from the left against Paul Ryan for his blank expression during most of the speech. I get it, Ryan is the new guy on that stage, so he's the guy to scrutinize. And I would fully expect the left to pounce on any perceived foible. But this is the dregs, man! He wasn't expressive enough? It's the SOTU, not an evening at the theater! Personally, I think the media does itself a disservice here, because it goes to show that they were going to find some reason to attack Ryan no matter what.

tryanmax, I like to think Ryan was just doing his best Biden impression.

Apology: Worn out from week, I will get a post up tomorrow. If not, I will write a review of 13 Hours, which I hope to see this weekend.
