All The News That's Fit To Print... Kind Sucks

Ug. There’s nothing going on worth writing about.

The political world is going insane over a hit piece in the NYTimes in which some women tell stories about how horribly Trump treated them or about some story about Trump pretending to act as his own PR man in the 1980’s. No one outside the pundit world is talking about either. That shows they still don’t understand his appeal. No one thinks Trump is a good choice for President of the United States. Trump’s support is from people who want someone who is going to twist the panties of the establishment into a knot and f*ck things up for a bit. He is a guided missile aimed at the heart of conventional wisdom.

One thing that Trump is considering which I think will hurt him is the idea of selecting Sarah Palin as his VP. Not only are her negatives intense, but attitudes about her have already been set and those negative feelings will not change. Hold ma beer and watch this!

The transgender bathroom thing continues to send the Religious Right to their bunkers. Don’t care. Colorado did this several years ago and not a single thing happened after it passed.

Bill Clinton apparently accepted a number of flights on a plane owned by a man convicted of sex trafficking underage girls. They called it the Lolita Express. Whether or not Clinton had sex with underage girls is obviously not known, but he probably did it. Will anyone care? I doubt it. Sex crimes don’t stick to Bill. But it will make it harder for the left to attack Trump for being rude to women.

I’m seeing several “why Clinton lost” articles on the left, which suggest that she will lose. But then, we already know she will.

Paul Ryan and Trump seem to have reached some sort of detente, though no one told Sarah Palin apparently. Frankly, it was kind of obvious they would work something out.

Beyond that, we have run out of news! It’s the end of history.

I find it interesting that the Democratic Party has yelled for decades to get the .GOV out of the bedroom, but they're all for the .GOV being in the bathroom. Some people, esp. on the left, act like this is just too funny...well, it's funny until your 10 year grandkid sees something they probably shouldn't..in the end, businesses will be force to put locks on all restroom doors so only one person at a time can use it.

On another note, I really don't want to her from the Dims anything about Don Trump and his women until the Dems come clean about Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner, Jessie Jackson et al.

Andrew -

I left a comment on the non-review movie article. Just some thoughts on recent releases.

And I still maintain that the whole transgender thing is just moving way too fast, as if gay marriage advocates said, "Well, what's next on the list?" Of course, the religious right nutjobs aren't helping with their usual fear-mongering.

And all this over a fraction of a fraction of the population.

Don't you know that a slow news day is an opportunity to drum up some crazy shit about the opposition? NYT does it routinely. So perhaps we should have a competition on best Enquirer news title today. Here are some:

Clinton had sex on Lolita Express, but which Clinton?

Trump admits to trading campaign money for sex from Hillary Clinton. "She's ugly and awfully noisy but I'm sure she enjoyed it!"

Definitive proof that Bernies Sanders is the love child of Jerry Garcia and Gloria Steinem!

My feelings are that the bathrooms, Global Warming, Black Lives matter etc., etc., are no the issue. They are used by the administration and their lackeys in the media to get our attention off of things such as the debt ($19 Trillion and climbing, the sorry state our military is in, and an unemployment rate that's probably closer to 15%. There are others things as well..The discontent in the GOP and the Democratic Party are indicators that "the people" don't trust them anymore.

Venezuela's economy is being run into the ground, and its most vulnerable are paying the price. From the New York Times: "Dying Infants and No Medicine: Inside Venezuela’s Failing Hospitals"

The opening paragraph:
------------------
Here in the Caribbean port town of Barcelona, two premature infants died recently on the way to the main public clinic because the ambulance had no oxygen tanks. The hospital has no fully functioning X-ray or kidney dialysis machines because they broke long ago. And because there are no open beds, some patients lie on the floor in pools of their blood.

It is a battlefield clinic in a country where there is no war.

Andrew,

I agree transgender bathrooms being a national obsession is bizarre. My first dorm had a unisex bathrooms (all stalls) and showers (though the floors were gender specific). I never heard of any incidents related to those bathrooms and at small colleges people gossip about everything.

Trump and Epstein are both amoral billionaire sybarites. Unsurprisingly, they are friends and Trump has openly talked about Epstein liking them young.

Anyone else in the race would be better positioned to attack Clinton on Epstein than Trump.

At the top of the ticket there is no practical difference between either party this election.

Epstein likes to tell people that he's a loner, a man who's never touched alcohol or drugs, and one whose nightlife is far from energetic. And yet if you talk to Donald Trump, a different Epstein emerges. "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump booms from a speakerphone. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."

Kit,

Standards vary, but Latin America's hospitals are generally pretty crappy (though don't get me wrong, if you have money you can find skilled often US educated doctors with cutting edge equipment) but even by those low standards that story is horrifying.

Chavez was an incompetent idiot, but he was a populist who sold himself to the public as a man of the people. The thing about democracy is countries have no one to blame but themselves for their horrible leadership.

I saw an article today about the Clinton plan of attack on Trump. They are going to attack him as "divisive, dangerous and a conman." Good luck. That's pretty much the sales pitch Trump has been using to sell himself!

Once again, our political class truly does not understand anyone who doesn't play by their rules.

AndrewPrice said...

Anthony, I've heard that hospitals in Brazil are quite good, but that could just elite hospitals. Not sure. Never been.

Anthony said...

Andrew,

It's possible. Latin America is a big place and there are exceptions to every rule.
