Whoops...

Heap 'um bad weekend for our friends on the left.

So Friday, CNN ran with a story which said that Wikileaks had offered Team Trump access to certain information on September 4th, ten days before Wikileaks went public with it. If true, CNN would see this as proof that Wikileaks and Trump were working together and therefore Trump and Russia were working together. Here are the problems:
1. It wasn't offered to Trump and there is no evidence Trump people accepted it... it was an unsolicited email.
2. The email didn't come from a person CNN could actually identify as being connected to Wikileaks.
3. There is no proof that Wikileaks is actually connected to Russia. US intelligence only thinks this when they want to blame the Russians for something. Otherwise, they treat them as separate people.
So basically, some unknown dude sent an email to Trump Jr., with no evidence Trump Jr. responded... and CNN saw this as the smoking gun of some deal between Trump and Russia. Many other media outlets then ran with this because they want to believe that Trump is guilty of something or other.

Then the big problem came out. CNN misread the date. Instead of being September 4th, the email was sent September 14th, after Wikileaks released the information. Hence, CNN's take is impossible, and CNN should have known it. People are now shocked at how bad the media has been in reporting on this. Of course, this is the same media that repeatedly reported anti-Trump propaganda as truth when it wasn't. They are also confusing rumor and even wishful thinking with truth. Basically, our media has shown themselves to be paid liars for the left. What a disgrace.

It's always troubling when a conspiracy theorist is slandered, but it matters little at this point. Things are steadily getting marginally worse but for years each side has talked about what it wants to talk about and believed what it wants to believe.

The CNN allegation was only covered in liberal media, the fact it was both weak and spurious was barely covered outside of conservative media (the retractions were on the back page).

The major press (aka, the liberal media) is risking boxing themselves in. They're keeping their audience stirred up and demanding blood. To stay this course, they'll need to get some someday. It's hardly a prediction to say that Democrats in 2018 will campaign on impeaching Trump for his imagined crimes.

Maybe with big enough majorities, that can do so in spite of the evidence. But then the public on the left will expect a conviction—or more likely, they'll be gobsmacked that impeachment isn't a conviction, as they've been led to believe. Then what if they can't secure a conviction?

Worse, what if they can? They're so hungry for another Nixon, they don't care about the fallout.

They've already have voted in last couple of week on Articles of Impeachment for Trump and since they really didn't have any actual charges other than "We'll Find Something, We Swear...Tom Steyer is paying for it!" clause. I am so glad someone is paying and the the taxpayers...oh, wait.

Some journalist was bemoaning the state of journalism today. He said he was around during the Nixon impeachment proceedings and he has never seen such shoddy, careless reporting.

Bev, They showed All The Presidents Men the other day and it was amazing how different their portrayal of the media was than you see today. Even allowing for artistic license, they worked under an abundance of caution. Today's journalism is a smear industry that shoots first and checks if forced.

tryanmax, Agreed. I think they want another Watergate so badly that they don't care about facts, nor have they considered the effect on their brain-dead followers or how they will react when it all finally falls apart on them.

Anthony, Not everyone is on a side.

Oh glorious! LOL!

The bullied kid who whined online and get all these celebrities (including LeBron James, Dr Phil, Chris Evans, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Mark Ruffalo) to virtue signal by whining "leave Britney alone" on his behalf now have a problem.

See if they'd scrolled down his mother's facebook page they would'a dun found him and hers waivin' confederate flags and "makes problematic posts bullying black protestors." Ha ha.

Personally, I suspect the whole thing was false to begin with. What makes me say that? The kid is whining about being made fun of... so his mother opens a donations page to help him. Very white trashy.

People still ask me why I didn't/don't go back to school and complete my journalism degree...um, this kind of crap is why. I have zero respect for the profession these days. The reporters of the past who were my heroes and inspiration are probably spinning in their graves over what passes as journalism today. The number one rule back in the dark ages of 1984 was to report the facts and only the facts (which had better be checked, checked, and then checked again) so the reader/viewer could form their own educated conclusion and leave opinion to the editorial page.

Andrew - I had the exact same reaction to the bullied kid. It was just too weird that his mother videoed him and then opened a gofundme account. I thought it was just me. I really hope that this poor kid isn't being used now by everyone.

Stacy, Modern journalism barely deserves the name. It's gone from a group of professional with a passion for finding the important truth to a gaggle of petty, lazy jerks who think their opinions are fact and who don't care at all about truth or doing the hard work it takes to find what is really going on.

Bev, I've started to become suspicious of many of these things. I'm suspicious when a camera just happens to catch something "amazing" -- oh look, our long missing dog is coming around the corner right for us! I'm suspicious when the camera angles require that the other person knew what would happen. I'm suspicious when people act "out of character" or seem to be working in conjunction with others. And I'm super suspicious the moment I see an attempt to monetize something supposedly spontaneous.

On using this kid, the mother apparently told an MMA fighter that she saw this as "an opportunity," which made the guy walk away from her.
