For those who don't know, Harvey Weinstein is a film producer of some repute. He's been behind a massive number of films and he has considerable sway in Hollywood. Indeed, Weinstein is one of the biggest contributors to Democrats, including Clinton and Obama, and he is what is called a "bundler," meaning he throws parties for A-list Hollywood types who also contribute at these parties. Over the years, he has funneled millions to the Democrats.
Well, the other day, allegations starting coming out, led by Ashley Judd, that Harvey is a serial sexual harasser and probably a sex criminal. Apparently, he used his position to demand massages, that women watch him shower, and that at least one (a reporter) watch him masturbate (which is how they say "Hi" in West Virginia). More will come out soon I'm sure.
So how is Harvey being treated?
Well, let me start with this. When sexual harassment allegations began being raised at Fox News, the left lost their minds and demanded immediate termination plus more. Essentially, they wanted all of Fox's management canned and the network sent to re-education camp. They tried to get the accused fired and ostracized. And they wanted everyone to have to agree that this was as evil as you can get without rounding up Jews.
Heck, Cam Newton found himself condemned and his sponsors dumping him just for a quasi-sexist remark... he didn't even get the chance to masturbate in front of anyone!
So what about Harvey? Well, his company has put him on administrative leave so they can investigate. That's fair. But then it gets a little iffy. None of the A-list actress types who routinely make sexual harassment a sisterhood issue and demand automatic guilt by allegation have spoken up... not a one. They haven't even condemned these acts in principle "if true." Crickets. A couple minor actresses have piled on, but that's about it.
The Democrats who want to run for President have all agreed to give the money they got from him to charity. Hillary and Obama haven't said a word, though. Apparently, they like the tainted money too much to give it back. On the other hand, the Democratic National Committee is giving up the money... sort of. They're giving it to liberal groups dedicated to getting (Democratic) women elected. That's a bit like giving it to your own PAC.
It's interesting how hesitant the left is to really condemn this when they don't even wait for the allegation to be known before they usually condemn these things. So maybe this isn't as big an issue for them as they would normally have you believe. In fact, let me ask how this could have gone on for two decades with out a single Democrat revealing what was going on? Add this to Clinton's misconduct and Weiner's child-sex texting and a bevy of other allegations and I'm starting to think the Democrats only care about sex-crime when they can lob the allegation, but they are pretty indifferent when it's their own people doing it. So much for being the party that protects women.

By the way, Brie Larson (who is apparently named after my favorite cheese) whined that "being a woman means you live life on the defensive." She says this because she gets asked out when she doesn't want to be asked out. The poor dear. Imagine the horror. Maybe she should move to a cave.
Actually, I'm quite sympathetic. Being somewhat not svelt, I often find myself accosted by food vendors when I walk past them. They call to me and ask if I want their wares. I feel so violate. I too need to live life on the defensive. //sigh

Considering this is the same Harvey Weinstein that boasted about Hollywood having the best moral compass in the context of a petition to free Roman Polanski this isn't the least bit surprising. The guy's a real turd in business, too, as Furious D has documented so well. I don't think it's much of a stretch to say that he's the human embodiment of everything wrong with Hollywood. And I don't think Ms. Larson would need to worry about me traumatizing her with a date invite. I can't even remember what she looks like to do it!
Daniel, Yeah, I've heard he's a real turd. And with the vast amount of sexual misconduct and drug misconduct in Hollywood, this doesn't surprise me in the least.
As for Brie, the real irony she's missing is that she's sought out a job where she sells her looks to young men to sell tickets. When you choose to enter a field that lives in the public, you really can't complain when the public chooses to interact with you. Actors, athletes, politicians all get attention they want. It's the nature of the game. So when she whines living on the defensive, she's brought this on herself.
What's more, how is that living on the defensive. Death threats, stalkers, hate mail... that's living on the defensive. Whining about being asked out is ridiculous. Just say no and these guys go away.
From the #asexpected and #suchhatefulassholes file, the guy who stood up to greet the Trumps in the hospital has been getting lots of negative comments sent his way from leftists who are pissed that he dared to show the Trumps respect.
That's beyond petty. That's "needs mental help" territory.
Okay, first Ms Larson. She should be thrilled. Just wait until the TSA personnel starts treating her like an invalid because she has gray hair.
And as for Weinstein, let!s just compare his treatment to Bill Cosby. Cosby had the temerity to tell black men to pull up their pants and speak proper English. Now, he is being tortured for the same with same excuse as "the 60's and "70's made me do it; I didn't know any better; Madmen excuse" with silence.
Btw, my very own Gov. Cuomo has said he is donating "part" of his generous donations from Weinstein to some "women's charities". Not all, probably because he needs the rest for upcoming legal fees related to indictment this week to several of his in-state donors for "play-to-play" indictments related to his Governorship.
As for the guy in the hospital who got out his hospital bed to stand up for the President and First Lady, when I saw the video, and honestly, I cried. He didn't have to do that, but he did.
Btw, having witnessed Trump for many years in NY, do you know he is a gsrmaphobic? That's why he is not a hand-shaking, touchy-touchy kind of guy.

I think Ms. Larson is being hypocritical. Like many girls I've encountered, I suspect she wants guys she finds attractive to ask her out as much as possible. It's the guys she doesn't find attractive who bother her. I can all but guarantee you that if Ryan Gosling or equivalent had asked her out, she would be gushing about it on Facebook.
On Cuomo, what I find interesting is this: if Weinstein's actions are bad enough to require the return of his donations, then how can you justify keeping any portion of it?
On Weinstein v. Cosby, I think you make a great point. I don't know if Cosby did it or not, but they are out to destroy him. So far, the same people are being rather silent about Weinstein... just as they were silent about Bill Clinton.
Andrew, I have no doubt that Cosby did do "it". But what I have a-problem with is this - knowing that he was famously married because his comedy was based on his family life, What is the culpability of the women who accuse him? Like Weinstein, they had to have known about his proclivities. As always, I question why does one knowingly put themselves in that position if not for self-gain? I have very little sympathy for women who knowingly set themselves up for their own personal gain and then want to set themselves up as victims. The same way I think of people who walk through Central Park alone at 2am and are shocked that they are robbed or worse.
I imagine this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as the Weinstein allegations go. Someone as thoroughly rotten in all areas of life as he is probably has a lot more garbage where that came from. Well put on Larson, too. Getting asked out by people you don't want to is never fun but it's rarely an existential threat. Not to mention a quick search shows she's engaged, so why doesn't she use that to fend off the would-be suitors instead of saying stuff like that? Lack of attention as well as missing the attempt to virtue signal her feminist credentials I imagine. As for the hospital mess, these people really are the worst kind of fanatics, aren't they? Ironic when you compare how they act to the religious fanatics they often rail against, too.
What I want to know is what he REALLY did to tick Ashley Judd, Ms. Lefty McLeft herself, off bad enough to make her come out against him?
Reputedly Weinstein has settled a bunch of cases. This ought to be enough to finish him as a public figure but we live in strange times.
I don't know how I didn't see the article Friday. I heard this morning that Weinstein has been fired from his own company. The board cited "new information" that affected their decision. By that, I assume they mean they learned they can't sweep it under the rug any longer.
By all accounts, Hollywood is a movable Bacchanalia. One suspects that the reason so many actresses seem psychologically damaged is because they are.

I've been watching this scandal with a lot of interest. SNL has taken it in the shorts for avoiding it. So have almost all the night show hosts, with only Oliver mentioning it. Many of these people even tried to deflect their sycophancy by attacking Trump.
A lot of actresses are now being bombed on Instragram and Twitter for their failure to say anything even as they talk about empowerment and attacked people like Trump. So much for principle.
Anthony, The press is reporting 8+ settled lawsuits over 30 years.
P.S. Ultra-liberal Matt Damon is now being brought into this for having helped torpedo a story about it about ten years ago.
I knew this would be big but I wasn't expecting it to gain this much momentum this quickly! And given the sheer hypocrisy and other garbage that comes out of Hollywood this was a long time coming. A shame so many people had to suffer for it, though. I don't doubt that you're right about the psychological damage these actresses must have, tryanmax.
Daniel, These aren't people whose "suffering" I care about.
First, they have vast amounts of money and easy access to a podium. They didn't need to be victimized.
Secondly, they seem to be covering up for the guy for political reasons or at least for personal reasons while falsely and hypocritically attacking conservatives for the very things they are complicit in.
So no sympathy. If anything, the Feds should look at building a sexual assault conspiracy case and take a lot of these people down.

I didn't phrase it well, sorry. I meant it more in a general sense of it being a shame he got away with it for so long and for whatever people actually tried to do the right thing here and were crushed for it, if any were present. The enablers that you mentioned, on the other hand, get an emphatic "F them!" and I fully agree that charges need to be brought. Sorry if I was a bit unclear and confused, my brain never works properly after work!
A good fiend of mine has a son in the business. For a long time, he held film rights to a biography of Weinstein. Harvey was desperate to purchase it so he could make sure it was never greenlighted. Don't know if he still holds them, but I wonder what the worth is now
TennJ - That's kind of cool...icky, but cool. Good question about how much it might be worth. It would make a fun Netflix mini-series like "House Of Cards Goes Hollywood".
