There Is Evil... Then There Are Democrats

Just a thought. You know all the things liberals claim are beyond evil, right? And how they love to blame them on everyone else? Like how they are acting like the Harvey Weinstein thing is part of some "epidemic" and therefore attacking Weinstein's crimes and Hollywood's hypocrisy is "politicizing" things. Well, consider this:

Democrat Thomas Jefferson... slave owner

Democrat Andrew Jackson... trail of tears

The Democratic South... slavery, fought Civil War to keep slaves, imposed slavery in other form in Reformation Era, segregation until the 1960s.

Democrat Woodrow Wilson... racist... lied to get country into World War I

Democrat FDR... interned Japanese-American citizens

Democrat Harry Truman... only human to drop atomic bomb on civilian populations

Democrat JFK... tried to assassinate foreign leaders, illegal invasion of Cuba, started Vietnam War

Democrat LB Johnson... lied to escalate Vietnam War including ground troops and systematic bombing of North Vietnam (leftist Bertrand Russell attacked Johnson's policy as "a barbaric aggressive war of conquest"), surveillance of MLK and Civil Right leaders

Democrat Clinton... rapist, serial sexual harasser. Democrat Hillary Clinton... covered up and defended Clinton by smearing victims

Democrat Obama... Kept Gitmo open and tried to declare the prisoners as non-persons with no rights, expanded use of drones including against American citizens without court oversight, expanded wars in Middle East and Africa

K-12 Schools... under Democrats control since 1950s, yet were segregated, accused of systematic racism and sexism

Progressive Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes... endorsed compulsory sterilization of the intellectually disabled (eugenics) in 1927 case Buck v. Bell. "Three generations of imbeciles are enough."

Just to name a few. Maybe we should be getting rid of the statues and monuments to these monsters and war criminals after all?

Sorry Mike. That was a typo. I'll fix it.

Isn't it funny how the Democrats did everything they consider evil today?

It goes further than this too. Hollywood is a land of sexism, racism and environmental devastation even as they claim to champion those causes. They're huge on the Magic Negro trope, the Noble Savage trope and the White Man's burden trope.

Things like Dr. Seuss that were considered progressive 40 years ago are seen as racist today.

Liberal cities are the most racist.

Liberal computer/internet/media companies preach freedom of speech and then knuckle under to Chinese censorship.

etc.

Kinda unfair to Truman as highly likely his choice ultimately saved more lives than if he hadn't.

EP, Of course it is, but the left doesn't care. They consider "the US" dropping the bomb a criminal act, just as they consider much of the rest criminal acts. The point is, it was their own people who did the things they blame the rest of us Americans for.

They are masters of projection if nothing else, aren't they? There's definitely more than a bit of schadenfreude going around over this and I can't help but feel some myself! Weinstein being stopped cold while trying to leave the country was a nice development as well. How do you think this is all going to shake out in the end, Andrew? Hollywood has definitely taken serious damage over this but I don't see them losing their grip on entertainment any time soon, not to mention a certain group's lack of anything vaguely resembling awareness of public relations could end up mitigating the damage. (Also, sent you an email)

The progressive movement is a form of insanity.

The thing I see about Hollywood is that it is filled with people who simply wouldn't make it any other hierarchy. I've seen it pointed out by multiple women on Twitter that Weinstein's "toxic masculinity" isn't masculine at all. It's vain, insecure, conniving, serpentine, and all-around sleazy. These sort of people languish at the lower levels or get kicked out of almost any organization you'd typically encounter. What's more, Hollywood types are at the fore in making sure that Hollywood is the only place sleazes have a shot by demanding more and more sensitivity and diversity training for everyone else—but not for themselves. It's quite a little racket.

Daniel, I think Harvey goes to jail for rape. Beyond that, don't expect much.

1. There will be hand wringing at first and lots of random finger pointing.
2. A couple dinosaurs will be retired.
3. Ben Affleck will need to attend counseling.
4. Matt Damon may or may not become a scapegoat.
5. After that, Hollywood will take the line: "It is horrible what this epidemic made Harvey do, we need new laws (lowering standard for sex assault cases, equal pay for women, $15 minimum wage, carbon tax, soda tax) to fix America so this finally stops happening everywhere."

That will be the end of it.

LL, It really is. It latches onto herd trends "why can't fix X with an easy, blunt, oppressive solution", usually destroying lives in the process, and then pretends that someone else was at fault.

tryanmax, That's very true. In the rest of society, you tend to make it to the top by learning not to cause problems. That means learning and obeying social norms. What's more, you are mixed in with a wide swath of humanity and merit tends to rise... and where no merit, then popularity.

Hollywood seems to be the kind of place where dirty, greasy losers find themselves with all kinds of power through nepotism or backstabbing or sexual favors and they run these little fiefs where they exploit the desperate, stupid, shortsighted people who want to be actors.

Hollywood is a bad place but power dichotomies tend to reveal Weinsteins. Most people wouldn’t behave that way, but a minority of them would. As the saying goes ‘Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.’

I see nothing of significance coming from this. People will lose jobs and maybe go to jail but the culture won’t change. In my short life we’ve elected two presidents who based their lives on the teachings of Hefner.
