Commentarama-nary - A Works in Progress

You know those times when you go to the Merriam-Webster or Roget's Thesaurus and you just cannot find just the right word to explain some concept (and that concept is usually related to Joe Biden) Well, search no more. Today we start a new chapter in our War of Words. I would like to introduce you to...

Commentarama-nary Noun - a compendium of descriptive ad hoc words and phrases created to describe political, moral, ethical, or just plain idiotic situations or persons where the Merriam-Webster unabridged dictionary versions just will not suffice.

You get the idea. If you need a word in need of a definition, or you have a definition in need of a
word, let us know. Help your fellow Commentarama-ian and make like Merriam and Webster starting today.

First entry into our newly formed Commentarama-nary is:

alcohol Noun \ˈbüz\ - 1. a fluid which aids in the viewing of presidential debates and state of the union addresses 2. what comes out if you prick a Kennedy;

Bidenism Noun - 1. anytime Joe Biden lips are moving; 2. gaffe.

bulsch Noun 1. alternate and shortened spelling of manure from an adult bull; Others Uses: has added benefit of passing many censor bots.

Bev, "I wonder if this is what Noah Webster felt like?" -- LOL!

I can't wait to see how the Commentarama-nary grows over time. I hope we get a lot of great words and one day we can reshape the English language! :)

BevfromNYC said...

I have a word for UT Football today..."painful". I know, I know that's a real word, but it still hurts. 4th quarter Texas 8/Oklahoma 46...ouch.

DUQ said...

Bev, That is painful. How about "ouch-errific"?

DUQ said...

In other news, I see that Obama's supposed lock on the electoral college is collapsing. :)

BevfromNYC said...

Duq, there is NOTHING -errific about a Texas loss!

I saw that Obama now may only have a lock on 10-11 states. I am cautiously optimistic. He's also locked up in debate prep for Tuesday. Let's hope his handlers lose the key!

Are you going to put a Commentarma-nary page under the mission statement? You should.

tryanmax said...

I can't think of any words for the Commentarama-nary myself, but I can think of a few "pet names" that we use around here.

First is Lawhawk's "Mahmoud Imadinnerjacket" for Pres. Ahmadinejad of Iran.

My contribution is DNC chair "Debbie WTF Schultz" (instead of Wasserman). Lest anybody be concerned, WTF stands for "Win the Future." Yeah, that's it. ;-)

Some borrowed from Rush include "Dingy Harry" Reid, Joe "Plugs" Biden, and "San Fran Nan(cy)" Pelosi, to name a few.

AndrewPrice said...

tryanmax, I've been thinking about that. I just want to make sure we have a couple good words first. :)

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Maybe he should have said: ouch-orrific?

BevfromNYC said...

Tryanmax - I will add a "Famous Names" section and add those in.

And Andrew - "ouch-orrific" is perfect. I will add it.

Doc Whoa said...

I know it's not our word, but I like "Bidenism."

Doc Whoa said...

Also, I see that Turkey is blasting the UN security counsel over Syria. I guess Turkey didn't get the message that the UN is irrelevant... Biden told us so.

T-Rav said...

Bev, I demand that your use of the word "painful" be extended to include Missouri football. I know it's Alabama, but 28-7 in the first half? Really?

T-Rav said...

Also, I would like to include the following in the Commentarama-nary:

Chicago - Method of winning political campaigns by blackmailing, framing, and/or threatening one's opponent. See also Rahm Emmanuel.

AndrewPrice said...

That sounds like a pizza -- Chicago style!

BevfromNYC said...

T-Rav - I believe that the Missouri/Alabama game falls into the category of "ouch-orrific".

How About Obamatopia

This is an alternative universe whose only connection seems to be popular DNC spokesman who seem to live simultaneously in this world or the next.

For instance in Obamatopia there are 57 - 60 states (the number fluctuates due to quantum variations) in US Politics.

Also in Obamatopia Sara Palin discussed the "Death Panels" created by Obamacare in a debate with Joe Biden a full year and a half before it was passed into law. This is quite a feat of prognostication for her since in Obamatopis we have to pass legislation before we find out what was in it.

Also in Obamatopia Siria actually has five time the number of square acres as opposed to our world where it is reversed. Just ask Joe Biden, he's the expert on that.

Obamatopia a word you need to know intimately until next January when the political axis resets and the Obamatopians will no longer hold sway over the connections to this universe.

I've got one:

alcohol noun \ˈbüz\ - 1. a fluid which aids in the viewing of presidential debates and state of the union addresses 2. what comes out if you prick a Kennedy

Here's another one borrowed from Rush: Mayor Michael "Doomberg".

rlaWTX said...

y'all are FAN frickin TASTIC!!!!

Bev - I saw the score of UT-OU when it was 2-20 and I knew it was gonna be a bad 'un...

rlaWTX said...

(oh, and as I was reading the article - before I saw the comments from which the entries were gleaned - I smiled about Hawk's "Imadinnerjacket". Not too long ago that was the answer on Jeopardy & I couldn't come up with the legit pronunciation - just this one... )

Tennessee Jed said...

just exactly right, Bev :)

T-Rav said...

I would like to submit "Ahmanutjob" as an alternate spelling to "Imadinnerjacket."

Joel Farnham said...

I submit

bulsch noun alternate and shortened spelling of manure from an adult bull. It has the added benefit of passing many censor bots.

Jen said...

Joel, It's also a useful byproduct. :)

StanH said...

“skeptomistic” The act of being both skeptical and optimistic at the same time, in other words, a confused independent.

BevfromNYC said...

StanH - Excellent word "skeptomistic" Very useful. I feel that way about all of the polls, don't you?

"bulsch" another excellent and useful word. Is that the German form?

Jen said...

"Clint O'Nista"-Noun 1. A person in agreement with the "Empty chair" skit.

I know it's not mine, but thought it should be added: "National Empty Chair Day"-An alternative to "Labor Day".

Don't forget Rush's alternative to "Plugs": Joe "Bite Me".

More description for Debbie "WTF": someone called her a "Spokeswitch".

Jen said...

A new twist on an old phrase:

"If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with Biden"--A phrase to use when even bulls**t makes sense.

BevfromNYC said...

Yey, Jen! I will add a "Famous Phrases" section to add your famous phrase! And the others. Love "spokeswitch". How very polite. I would have used...well, we won't go there.

Jen said...

Bev, Someone used it already, but I can't remember who. Hopefully, whoever said it, will claim it (I believe it was Andrew, T-Rav, or Tryanmax).

Chair-iot: Noun- 1. What we hope "The One" will be riding in on the way out of the WH come January, and will thus leave the "Empty Chair" to be occupied by the real Prez.

*Clint O'Nista is not to be confused with Clintonista.

Are you going to add a word & definition for those who partake in all things Commentarama? I've seen Commentaraman or Commentaramian used before. I think it would be appropriate.

Individualist said...

Well it is not a definition so much as a freindly warning but we must all remember that

you cannot pour water on Nancy Pelosi or she will melt

I don't have a name for the condition however

rlaWTX said...

Indi, wicked-witchitis? (alt form has a 'b' replacing second 'w')

Jen said...

Bev, is there a limit on which someone can contribute?

I thought of another one:"Commentaramanese"--language spoken by readers, writers, and contributors of CommentaramaPolitics, and CommentaramaFilms.

BevfromNYC said...

Jen, there is no limit. Please feel free to contributen as much as you want!

Jen said...

Thanks, Bev! :) I'll see what I can come up with besides what is already here. I had a few more, but didn't write them up, and now they are gone from memory for now. I was also waiting for your response, sorry.

Jen said...

Bev, I thought of one today. In light of Michigan's vote on Right to Work, and all the protests that are occurring, I'd like to add another word.

Loonion: Noun 1. Union supporters/backers/members who become crazed/enraged whenever Right to Work legislation is mentioned or proposed.
