So Is It Possible?

It just seems that more and more we, as a nation, are becoming more and more fractured. Our leaders are just digging in their heels and refusing to work out something that might come close to working to benefit the citizens. But there is hope. I mean, watch this - if something like this can happen between two of the most contentious species, then why not us? These two animals are literally the poster-species for fighting! You know, "they fought like cats and dogs" and yet, somehow, this happens...

So whaddya say? If cats and dogs can work together for the betterment of the backyard, then it must be possible for Repbublicans and Democrats to work together for the bettermen of something, right? Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

Anyway, other than this, I got nothing. The floor is open.

A cat would never do that for a dog. It's a one-way-street. And that may be the moral to the story.

Since we have an open thread, and yesterdays column was about liberal rage, have you guys ever noticed how the dems are the party that champion all things non heterosexual but as soon as they get angry they break out the gay slurs? I remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California he proposed some cuts to education in his budget. The teachers union made some bobbleheads of the Governator wearing a pink dress. But I always thought cross-dressing was a healthy expression of a liberated sexuality. You remember how Andrew Breitbart had that high voice? I remember he single handedly drove off a small crowd of protestors once and as they left one of them said "I think he's gay."And then there was Stephen Colbert's crack about Putin's cock holster. And no LBTGQRSTUV or member of todays sexual cause de jour ever say anything. What's up with that?

Maybe if CNN folds .... nah, congress people are concerned only with getting elected by citizens who are conditioned to hate and a diet of red 🍖

LL: I was trying to ignore that fact, but also I must question the intelligence of this cat. How couldn't it figure out how the get that bag OFF his/her/its head by itself. I could say something about the big bad dog had to rescue the little femal...er...feline, but I won't.

Bev, You know of course that those on the fringes would not see this video the same:

Enviro: When will mankind learn to ban plastic?! And set these creatures free. No one should own another person!

Anti-fascist (read: fascist)/alt-right (read: douchebag): This is a black flag event to take people's eyes off the encroachment of corporate America and keep everyone from seeing the bags stuck on their own heads! Stand up for freedom! Where's my welfare check?!

Brown Lives Matter: All those people applaudin' some dog when dogs has been weaponized to hunt down our cat brothers in the streets!

College moron: Why is that dog attacking that cat? I don't want to see such violence! Waaaah! Get me to a safe room!

Liberal: I hate Trump so much. //breaks down crying

An -ist: That cat only got the bag off because of pet privilege. Wild animals are discriminated against. They don't get the bag off. We need to eliminate pet privilege and raise the minimum wage and give reparations to whales and kill all the people I don't like. Weee.

Democratic leaders: I would never allow such a display at any of my mansions.

Hillary Clinton: I am in favor of the internet and opposed to those who would oppose the things that should never be opposed. Bill, stop looking at that pussy!!

GypsyTyger, I've noticed that too. They LOVE to toss out gay slurs even as they tell us that doing so is "homophobic."

Jed, CNN seems to be stepping in it left and right. I don't know what is going on there.

I got nuthin' that hasn't already been said, so I'll just throw this out. On the heels of the discovery of the oldest human remains in Greece, another blow for the "we wuz kangz" believers. Recent DNA analysis on Egyptian mummies finds that they are most genetically similar to the peoples of the Near East/Levant and not, as has been proposed, those of sub Saharan Africa. (I was like, 'duh' when I read that.)

Cute video... I'm not sure how any of my cats would react if they had to be rescued by a dog like that. I imagine that at least one of them would repay the dog with a hiss and a vicious swipe, though.

On the other stuff funny and true summary of fringe reactions, Andrew, and I've seen what you're talking about, too, GypsyTyger. I just figured that it just came with the whole "It's not an ism or a phobia when we do it" attitude that people who do that crap have. Interesting on the archeology and anthropology front, too, tryanmax!

My personal favorite liberal disconnect from Sunday at the Gay/Dyke PrideParade in Chicago where the leaders of the parade kicked out all of the Gay Jewish Groups 'cause they had a Star of David on their rainbow flag. Apparently Plight of The Palestinian People was preferred to the only democratic country in the MidEast that had their own Gay Pride parade and where one can be simulateously openly gay and not dead.Their Jewish Rainbow flags made people "feel unsafe".

Fortunately Debra Messing wasn't buying that! Phew, I was worried that she wouldn't weigh in...

Every time I hear some Lefty tell me that us gun-owners have to compromise, I ask them, 'What's in it for me?" "Where's the compromise?" "What are you offering me?" It always shuts them up. I still haven't seen many stories from the major news outlets on the CNN debacle except from FOX. They're such liars.

To the surprise of no one, the Senate has delayed its Healthcare vote. Senate conservatives complain it doesn't do enough and Trump has denounced it as mean so I am curious about where all this will end up. I remember the halcyon days when Obama was in office to safely render Republican legislative action symbolic.

I like the Project Veritas video in which a CNN producer appears to call the Russia collusion story unlikely but good for ratings. WARNING: NSFW language at the link.

In regards to healthcare, why not just let the insurance companies compete...if they want, make a law that everyone has to carry at least a minimum of insurance and if you have the money you can get a better one...but let the those companies compete...my state of Missouri is terrible for insurance companies...I understand the need for regulation and oversight, but my state is crazy to the point where there is no competition because we don't have that many companies.

Back in the early 80s, before Missouri got crazy, I could insure an entire family for $40.00/month with a good policy.

Critch, good answer. (RE: gun compromise)

tryanmax said...

Critch, (RE: health insurance) The problem is, making everyone carry a minimum is what they did, but they jacked up the minimum super-high!

Anthony, one complaint I shake my head at is the notion that "Republicans had eight years" to get this thing together. Forget that the ACA has only been in effect for seven years. The Democrats have been pushing for some sort of healthcare legislation of this magnitude since FDR. Now, I don't think they spent 80 years writing the bill--though in some senses they did--but the writing isn't the issue, it's the inertia. You can't flip almost a century of political momentum around on a dime. I'll give Democrats credit where due: they inherently understand the time scale that politics moves at.
