Commentarama Goes Left

Hey comrades. I've decided to switch to the left. To help me understand my new views on Trump, I've called upon our comrades at Yahoo. Please change your views accordingly...

Mike Pence thinks God talks to him. What a freak!
Oprah will only run for President if God tells her so. She’s so thoughtful.

Trump is a germaphobe. What a weirdo!
Jennifer Lawrence is a germaphobe and make sex partners take STD tests. How smart!

Do you know how many poor people the money from Melania’s dress could have fed?
OMG, aren’t Michelle Obama’s designer dresses amazing?
OMG, aren’t the dresses at the Oscars amazing?

Obama did everything he could to fix the economy, this is just the new normal.
The economy’s going to crash because of Trump.
The economy’s going to crash because of Trump.
The economy’s going to crash because of Trump.
THE ECONOMY’S GOING TO CRASH BECAUSE OF TRUMP.

Putin is a good guy and Hillary/Obama’s reset button is a great idea!
Trump is Putin’s puppet! Putin is evil!
Trump needs to stop messing with Putin or he’ll start a war!
Trump hasn’t done anything to stop Putin because he doesn’t care about dictators.

Trump needs to stop messing with North Korea or he’ll start a war!
Isn’t North Korea dreamy? Look at how nice they are at the Olympics. Mike Pence is such a meanie!
Why hasn’t Trump done anything to stop North Korea? Because he doesn’t care about dictators.

JESUS CHRIST! I SWEAR TO GOD THE ECONOMY’S GOING TO CRASH BECAUSE OF TRUMP.

Trump has done nothing! His followers must hate him!
Trump is pushing through an evil agenda!

People will hate the Trump tax cuts!
//crickets

Trump doesn’t care about Syria!
Trump’s going to embolden ISIS in Syria by letting the military fight.
Sure, ISIS is destroyed in Syria and Iraq and pretty much everywhere, but it wasn’t Trump’s doing.

Trump hates black people. He’s a racist.
Don’t applaud lowest black unemployment ever.

Trump is going to round up gays.
Trust me... it will happen...
... any second now...
... any second...
... it’s coming...

Trump won’t do anything to stop school shootings!
His proposals are... well... he’s such an ass. Ignore what he said!

Trump can’t fill his staff. His staffers are quitting. They’re all having affairs. They hate each other. Look at Melania’s clothes! She’s sending a secret signal. She’s blinking SOS! She won’t hold his hand! We found liars who accuse him of having an affair! Can you imagine a president having an affair in his past? The horror. Trump’s son is a traitor. He once talked to the Russians... said the prominent Democrats who made a career of flirting with America’s enemies. I once stayed at Trump Towers and someone had dropped a dirty towel in the elevator! Russian spies stay there! Trump hates women. Let’s mock Ivanka. I hear she’s stupid. Let’s get that bitch Hope Hicks! Some dude says Nikki Hailey is a slut! Oh my God, he takes advice from his family! No one’s ever done that... like the Clinton’s supposed co-Presidency. He eats at McDonalds!!! Like I do!! He golfs, like every other President! The bastard!

Why is everyone so happy that things are going well? What is wrong with all of you!!!

Perfection. I'd almost believe you switched, you have the dialog down pat.

Ooooo, maybe you could demand Target gives you a transpolitical, bipartisan, swing vote bathroom?

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Stacy! I'll tell you, I feel like Alice every time I go to Yahoo. Those people are nuts! Nothing is to petty or too hypocritical to attack. They HATE good news. And they are obsessive.

And they aren't alone.

Good point about Target! LOL! They should also have intersectional bathrooms... whatever that means?

LOL! Every day is just another Tom Lehrer song in the making...

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Maybe we should put this to music? LOL!

LL, I hadn't put that together. Good call! LOL!

Thanks Jed! Just a little peek into the collective, confused mind of the left.

You know, when I saw the click-baity title (a pox on you, Andrew!), I thought it was the end of life, the universe, and everything as I knew it.

Now, I am rather relieved.
And, you know,if you this with the voice of the Brain, (as in "Pinky and the Brain"), it takes on a whole new dimension.
Ha, ha! Narf!

Bravo! Bravo! Don’t forget that it’s illegal to overturn an executive order with an executive order. Also, states don’t have jurisdiction over immigration. Except California. I mean California now, not California in the 90s.

BevfromNYC said...

Okay, so now NK is begging to have a sit=down with Trump and may be willing to disarm. this just makes me LOL! If Trump can actually pull off a REAL de-nuclearization with Kim Jong Un...then..oh, just LOL! Oh, wait, the lib press is still obsessing over Stormy Daniels, pornstar. LOL!

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Uh, I think it's obvious who deserves the credit... the Olympics. Or Obama.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks tryanmax! Oh yeah, those should be there too. I love the idea that Trump somehow has no power to overturn an Obama Executive Order. Idiots.

AndrewPrice said...

Rustbelt, LOL!! It was kind of click-baity, wasn't it?

Doing this in the voice of Pinky and the Brain would be awesome! :)

North Korea has never stalled for time by negotiating before so these unprecedented talks cause me to have utmost faith in the Dear Leader!

BevfromNYC said...

Well, honestly, the Olympics probably DID have something to do with it. But seriously, this may prove that peace through strength and a willing to bomb the crap out of NK rather that soaring speeches and empty rhetoric may just work. What a concept! Trump may just be crazy enought to pull this off. Heck, how do you think Reagan brought down that Wall? It was the very real threat and optical willingness to bomb the crap out of them. Time will tell.

Hmmm, wonder what the UN is doing? Oh, nothing again. THey will probably find a way to blame Isreal again. And then put NK on the UN Human Rights Council for good measure.

Wouldn't be hysterical if Trump can pull this off and was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize? That would just be totally screwy. LOL! Oh, God, it's the End TImes for sure!

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I remember how the left treated Reagan. They derisively called his policies "Cowboy Diplomacy." They accused him of being a war monger or crazy or just stupid. They said he would accidentally cause WWIII. They treated the bad guys as the adults in the room. And then they tried to claim that all of Reagan's successes were the result of anything but Reagan. Very similar to now.

Trump won't be award the prize because it's handed out by leftists. They would award if to the North Koreans for being sensible. Or they'd give another one to Obama for somethingsomething.

AndrewPrice said...

I don't see anybody calling this a sure thing, Anthony.

Anthony said...

The Olympics and circumstances. North Korea has pulled off a bunch of tests and suchlike recently. Their normal pattern after bursts of activity (which invariably ratchet up sanctions) is talks which allow it to pocket the gains, ease tensions and makes it easier for China and Russia to ignore the sanctions (which they always do to an extent).

BevfromNYC said...

The sad part is there will be far too many who will be cheering for Trump to fail in this...

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, Definitely. There are a lot of sick people out there.

BevfromNYC said...

The big news is Trump may be able to de-nuclearize NK and...Obama is negotiating a deal with Netflix for his own series of show. Ponder that one.

AndrewPrice said...

Anthony, The Olympics? Really? Wow.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, You know which one matters more on the left.

Obama getting his own show, huh? Barf. I'll stick to literally anything else. He is one of the driest, least interesting, most narcissistic people on the planet. Hopefully, he shacks up with Snookie.

Anthony said...

The Olympics allowed conversations between high ranking Korean officials that otherwise wouldn't have happened. Do you disagree? Really?

I think the something is part of their standard stall for time. Nukes are pretty much the only guaranteed get out of invasion free card. It would be very surprising for NK to give them up. Everyone remembers Libya.

BevfromNYC said...

Anthony - I agree that the Olympics brought the 'Korea' issue to the global public stage. I do remember Libya and I remember even during the Bush II years when Gaddafi backed down gor fear of another bombing. Remmeber when Reagan bombed the crap out of Tripoli? when W went to war after 9/11, Gaddafi was the first to declare "believe the US when they say they will bomb 'cause they will. I will shut up and sit this one out. I will wait for some other less bomb-y President that I can deal with." Or something like that...

AndrewPrice said...

Of course, I disagree. The Olympics had nothing to do with bringing Korea to the table. Those decisions were made long before. Crediting the Olympics would be like crediting McDonald's because that's where the two representatives met, or crediting March Madness because that was on television. The Olympics simply became a convenient television background... they had no significance beyond that. And trying to give them significance is just anti-Trump-obsessiveness.

In terms of the chance of success of the talks, none of us are saying it's going to happen or even likely. Note phrases like "if he can pull this off". BUT he has achieved more with this talk than Obama did in 8 years or W Bush. That deserves some credit.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, It was already on the stage before that. Remember all the carrier battle groups, the missile tests, the alert in Hawaii, the Chinese getting involves, the Russians sending troops, the UN voting for more sanctions, the Japanese and Philippines and others joining with us (12 nations).

What the Olympics did was give our wishful thinkers a chance to hope that the agreement between the two Koreas to compete together would somehow lead to peace, love and understanding. That's it. All PR that didn't affect anyone's position except the MSM, who wanted this to mean something.

During the Olympics there were more talks about having talks, but those went nowhere.

Anthony said...

Bev, Libya had a nuclear program but it never developed nukes so it never had a nuclear shield. It gave up its WMDs in a bid for international legitimacy in 2003. As you pointed out its conventional weapons were not much of a deterrent to other countries bothered by the brutal way it fought its civil war several years later.

That is why I say the famously brutal (and weak and small) NK won't give up its nukes.

BevfromNYC said...

Andrew - I say again, what it did do was bring the issue of a divided Korea back into the public domain. Unlike Vietnam that reunited fairly quickly, Korea has been divided with a Berlin-style wall of death since the '50's and the Eisenhower years that the US has been militarizing, btw.

But if Trump can scare the Norks to even talk, you are right, he deserves some credit. Frankly, Trump scares the crap out of the world, but if this is the result? Well, heck yeah! Of course, it could all end in nuclear holocaust, but...cautious, but optimistic is better than coddle and hope nothing happens. Who knows, maybe Iran will see the light too! Btw, Nikky Haley is kickin' butt at the UN...give her some credit. It IS International Women's Day...where's my prize???

Anthony said...

Andrew,

I stated the escalating sanctions brought NK to the negotiating table. They always do.

If you think the Olympics were irrelevant, fine. That is not a core part of my argument.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I concur. I'm cautiously optimistic and, if he does pull something off, he deserves a lot of credit for finally making the North Koreans realize that the threat to take them out is real. They've never really believed it before.

I love Nikky Hailey. I think she's doing a fantastic job.

You want a prize for International Women's Day? Would a sewing machine be tone deaf? ;)

Ok, seriously, how's this: I offer my respect. Not because you're a woman, but because you're smart, clever and funny. Your comments (and articles) are consistently fun to read and offer brilliant insights. Thanks for sharing them! :)

AndrewPrice said...

Anthony, That's what you started your argument with. And let me point out that Korea is not core to my article. It's one dozens of points all saying the same thing.

I stated the escalating sanctions brought NK to the negotiating table. They always do.

When have they ever come to the table before? That's been the issue since W Bush, they never came to the table. Not under Bush. Not under Obama. Also, it was Team Trump that got China and Russia to agree to the sanctions -- another historic first.

Repeat after me: sometimes, Trump deserves credit for good things... sometimes, Trump deserves credit for good things...

BevfromNYC said...

Andrew - I already HAVE a sewing machine, and I used to know how to use it too! Thanks! Btw, I want to start posting again. I have few articles in the works. Life has been a lesson in this adulting thing which I am not too good yet. I am working on it though...'bout time, amirite?

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, You're welcome. It's true.

That would be great if you want to start posting articles again. :)

The adulting thing stinks. I'm dealing with a 12 year old who discovered the Island of Lost Boys and has lost her fricken mind.

Andrew,

There have been US-NK talks and deals before.

https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/dprkchron

In 1994, faced with North Korea’s announced intent to withdraw from the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), which requires non-nuclear weapon states to forswear the development and acquisition of nuclear weapons, the United States and North Korea signed the Agreed Framework. Under this agreement, Pyongyang committed to freezing its illicit plutonium weapons program in exchange for aid.

Following the collapse of this agreement in 2002, North Korea claimed that it had withdrawn from the NPT in January 2003 and once again began operating its nuclear facilities.

The second major diplomatic effort were the Six-Party Talks initiated in August of 2003 which involved China, Japan, North Korea, Russia, South Korea, and the United States. In between periods of stalemate and crisis, those talks arrived at critical breakthroughs in 2005, when North Korea pledged to abandon “all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs” and return to the NPT, and in 2007, when the parties agreed on a series of steps to implement that 2005 agreement.

Those talks, however, broke down in 2009 following disagreements over verification and an internationally condemned North Korea rocket launch. Pyongyang has since stated that it would never return to the talks and is no longer bound by their agreements. The other five parties state that they remain committed to the talks, and have called for Pyongyang to recommit to its 2005 denuclearization pledge.

Repeat after me: credit is fine but let's not kid ourselves in a rush to give said credit.

AndrewPrice said...

Anthony,

credit is fine but let's not kid ourselves in a rush to give said credit.

Again, no one here said they expect this to be a success. You are the one who tried to insert that straw man into the discussion so you could shoot it down. It's not real.

Secondly, your very argument requires credit to Trump because you credit the sanctions Trump got for bringing the Koreans to the table.

Third, if giving credit is fine... then try it. I dare you. Say something nice about Trump.

Anthony said...

I say nice things about Trump all the time. I thought he was on track to win the nomination back when you were convinced he was a side show.

I predicted he would win the general back when Hillary collapsed and classified emails resurfaced in the news because as I noted earlier (back when Trump dominated coverage) the most covered of the two candidates always lagged behind in the polls.

Isn't believing someone will win nice? I think Trump will win reelection. There, I'm on a roll.

AndrewPrice said...

On a roll indeed. LOL! All right. I think we may just need to agree to disagree on this one. Good night, my friend.

BevfromNYC said...

Wait, we can agree to disagree? What fresh hell is this? We must be in lockstep or all is....oh, wait, this isn't Twitter, is it? Nevermind...😇

BevfromNYC said...

Yeah, I used an emoji! So sue me....🍸

tryanmax said...

All I know is that the only reason Trump has agreed to a sit-down with Kim Jong Un is to distract from the Stormy Daniels scandal.

BevfromNYC said...

Tryanmax - I think that is the rightest take on the possible Nork sit down as a Stormy distraction thing since Russia, Russia, Russia! Stormy is just too important to a possible disruption in the time/space continuum of world peace that if it doesn't get off the front page, the world will be vaporized within minutes.

AndrewPrice said...

I was at the wound clinic today and they had CNN on. They had an "expert" who was whining that Trump never should have agreed to a meeting because that was giving the North Korean what they want.

So...

No shooting...
No shouting...
No cursing...
No threats...
No taunting...
No meeting...
But DO SOMETHING!!!

What's left? Send anonymous hate mail?

AndrewPrice said...

"What fresh hell is this?" LOL!

On CNN, -and to continue my theme from yesterday- it must be incomprehensibly taxing and mentally scarring to go through life as such an incompetent boob.
Ah, the left...I'd cry for them if I cared. But I don't. So, I won't.
Besides, I'm too busy preparing for tomorrow night.
