Google's Ideological Echo Chamber - How bias clouds our thinking about diversity and inclusion

This was written by James Demore, 28 year old Harvard Phd. in "Systems Biology" and, as of yesterday, no longer an Engineer for Google. Please read it if you have not already, and let's discuss. I have read it several time and am still trying to find what he wrote that is so horrible that women at Google had to take the day off because they feared for...I have no idea or that it required that Google Management dismiss him immediately. It all seemed very reasonable and very centrist to me. His entire premise is summed up thusly:

I hope it’s clear that I'm not saying that diversity is bad, that Google or society is 100% fair, that we shouldn't try to correct for existing biases, or that minorities have the same experience of those in the majority. My larger point is that we have an intolerance for ideas and evidence that don’t fit a certain ideology. I’m also not saying that we should restrict people to certain gender roles; I’m advocating for quite the opposite: treat people as individuals, not as just another member of their group (tribalism).

The Debacle that is "Natasha Pierre And The Great Comet of 1812"

This is a musical based on Leo Tolstoy's "War & Peace" (yeah, I know...) that opened in Off-Broadway in 2012 and moved to Broadway in November 2016 with pop opera singer Josh Grobin in the lead. With rave reviews, 12 Tony nominations AND Josh Grobin, one would think it would be a runaway hit. In February, it was announced that Grobin would be leaving the show in July and replaced for a limited appearance by one of the stars of "Hamilton" Okieriete Onaodowan (he originated the role of James Madison). Well, tickets sales have not been so good since he started, so as producers do, they announced that they would not be extending Mr. Onaodowan's run and would be replacing him with Broadway legend Mandy Patinkin hoping this would increase ticket sales.

well, one would think that the producers had decided instead to replace the entire show with an all-white version of "Raisin In The Sun"! How dare they replace a black actor with a white actor! "Outrageous!" they screamed from the rafters! So after all of the sound and fury that this caused, Patinkin gracefully declined to replace Onaodowan. Also as a result of the racist pile-on, the show will now be closing September 3. This is just stupid. This is how it works for producers...their job to get butts in the seats to make money for their investors and to be able to pay the cast/crew/ushers etc. for as long as they can. Onaodowan was not doing that so they decided to do what producers have done since the beginning of time....GET A REALLY BIG SUPERDUPER LEGENDARY BROADWAY STAR LIKE MANDY PATINKIN TO FILL THE SEATS!!!! They didn't realize that once you replace a white actor with a black actor, you can never go back to a white actor even if it's FREAKIN' MANDY PATINKIN!!!

Social Justice Whiners Update

Call them Social Justice Whiners, call them snowflakes, call them worthless losers... let's talk about them.

(1) Lena Dunham caught lying... again. You all know Lena Dunham. She's the leftist turd behind "Girls." She's also the person who got caught lying about being raped in college. Well, she's at it again. The other day she started tweeting how she was walking through the airport and she heard two American Airlines flight attendants saying "trans-phobia" stuff. She even posted her attempt to contact American Airlines, who promised to investigate.

Well, it turns out that the last American Airlines flight was two hours before this supposed incident and all their crews had left the airport. What's more, Dunham was in the Delta terminal, where American crews don't go. Said differently, Dunham lied.

This is becoming a trend among the SJW. They lie and invent incidents to stir up the pot. Waitresses who falsely claim to get racial slurs written on receipts. Gay bloggers who claim to get hate mail which they themselves wrote. Remember the anti-gay cake Whole Foods supposedly decorated? Blacks who claim to be roughed up by the cops until police video show them to be the aggressors. Note for the record that Leslie Jones never did follow up on her very public, very vague, very convenient claims that the Ritz Carlton acted in a racist manner toward her. There was another woman caught making a false rape allegation at a college. This time at USC. That follows a series of false rape allegations exposed. As near as I can tell, almost every incident the SWJ's complain about is a lie.

(2) The black eyes continue for the leftist journalists pimping for Colin Kaepernick. The leftist media was pushing for him to be signed by Miami, until they remembered he praised Castro. So they pushed for Baltimore to hire him. They argued that he was a "top 10" quarterback... a total joke, and dismissed what he did as just "protested injustice." And they swore that he wouldn't protest during the year if he was playing. How can you haters not hire him? And then his girlfriend called the Raven's owner a "slave owner" and Ray Lewis his "house n*gger." Oddly, none of these journalists have mentioned this, but they stopped talking about Baltimore.

Aside from the journalists, the message the NFL is sending is becoming clear. NFL thug Richard Sherman pointed out that the reason Colin K. doesn't have a job is that this is the NFL telling black players, "Boy stay in your place." But the reality is different. The NFL is making it clear they won't take anti-white, anti-cop, anti-military, anti-American comments that have offended the public. Of course, the leftists making these comments are outraged by this as they think they have the right to make such comments without consequence, but the NFL is showing that not to be true. The public strikes back. And the comments show that the public has remained 10-1 in support of punishing these people.

(3) In fact, let's talk about the public. What does the public really think? Right now, the internet, Hollywood and the MSM are jammed with one agenda: the "don't judge" agenda. Whenever they run across someone who is breaking some social taboo, they all jump on the bandwagon and scream "don't judge" and try to convince you that everyone now accepts these people. The problem is that the public isn't buying it:

(i) Whenever Kaepernick and his anit-white anti-Americanism comes up, the comments are consistently 10-1 against him.

(ii) There was an article (LINK) the other day explaining how little boys should be allowed to wear dresses and we must not make fun of them. Most comments called this "child abuse" and the public went about 10-1 in favor of the commenters over the author. By the way, despite the push by the SJW to make cross-genderism seem normal and ubiquitous, the expert in the article noted that only 2% to 7% of people fall into this category according to various studies.

(iii) There was an article about a plea by a child for us not to judge his mommie just because she's covered in tattoos like a Mexican gang. Specifically, this little kiddie used the word "work ethic" and informed us that the fact its mom has tattoos doesn't affect her work ethic. Big concept for a little child, isn't it? (Note that you would not use a child as a prop to make this plea if you had a legitimate argument to present.) Anyways, this article ran wild with the internet SJW crowd and we were told not to judge people with tattoos anymore... but the comments were 8-1 against the mother.

(iv) The percentage of people who thought the Redskins' name was racist never got above 12%, forcing leftist journalists to whine "well, that's still a lot of people!" That's 9-1 against the CryRacism crowd.

(v) Bruce Willis has remade Death Wish and the left is aghast! "Tone deaf!" and "how dare they make a movie now about a white man hunting black men!" Waahhhh. The comments are 10-1 in favor of the movie and against the critics.

(vi) The "body positive movement" (although movement is a misnomer), a collection of fat ugly women with tattoos who want to change society's norms so that they are seen as beautiful, is failing to get off the ground... or couch. They want men to like fat women and hate thin women. This week some dude posted an instagram post in which he said he liked his curvy wife. Hurray, right? Wrong. This met with absolutely hate from the BPMs who are outraged that "Guy likes curvy woman* 16,667 favs, national news. Curvy woman likes herself* 12 favs, 48 people in your mentions talking about diabetes." There were a lot nastier posts as well. Anyways, the comments in response have been running abut 90 to 2 laughing off this complaint.

(v) "I'm in an open marriage" - 10-1 against. Public breast feeding - 14-1 against.

Are you noticing a common thread?

Oh and think about this. Newsweek is reporting on a poll about Black Lives Matter. Apparently, 57% of voters have a negative view of BLM. Shocking! Only 43% had a positive view... Democrats. That's 6-4 (though Newsweek misleadingly calls this "a slight majority" and also called "Blue Lives Matter" a race group). Take blacks out and the number rises to 65% v. 35%. And of course, you know the poll is probably 10-15% biased toward the left. So you're probably really looking at 7-3 or higher.

How about this... Detroit about the unexplained deaths of three black men which started the Detroit riots of 1967 -- which the film of course blames on racist cops -- scored only $7.6 million this weekend against a production budget of $34 million (second lowest opening this year), despite having big names in the cast and Kathryn Bigelow directing. As an aside, you know this is political because the producer said, "We stand behind the message of the film. I don’t think it’s just measured by performance only." Oh yes, it is. The 2015 anti-NFL movie Concussion made only $48.6 million against a budget of $57 million, despite a lot of big names including Will Smith. Atomic Blonde, the film billing itself as the female James Bond and starring several big names flopped with $42 million against a $31 million budget. Micheal Moore's anti-Trump film collected only $149,000 in 2016. Did you know that Al Gore's "monster hit" Inconvenient Truth made only $49.8 million? His sequel has made only $1.1 million. So apparently, no one is seeing liberal movies. $49 million, the apparent ceiling on these films, translates into about six million people, or 1.8% of the population.

So what does all of this mean? It seems that even as the internet and MSM are packed with this cascade of stories promoting SJWism and attacking normal morality and social norms, the public isn't buying it. The public remains between 8-1 and 10-1 opposed. Said differently, they are failing big time. Their ideas just don't sell beyond their ranks.

Ponderings

Just some things I saw in the news that I thought were worth pondering.

● So apparently, it's sexism that Ian Ziering was paid almost $375,000 more to do the Sharknado films than his co-starette Tara Reid. My first thought was, isn't the real crime that either got paid? My second thought was, yes. I concur. I think it's time that Hollywood pay all the actors in a film the exact same amount of money. It's only fair and it's the only way to stop any future -isms.

● According to Brandi Glanville (who?), Joanna Kruppa (who?) is "a cheater with a smelly vagina." So watch out if you go near the thing. Whoa! Hold on! Why is this making news??? Ok, I take back everything I said the other day about the world getting better. The human race sucks... at least the white trash part of it and the media that glorifies them.

● Ok, this is serious. I read an interesting analysis (which I believe was credible) of why the Russians are a paper tiger. Apparently, through various business closings and the such, they've all but lost the ability to make the chemicals needed to produce ammunition. The effects of this have been periodic shortages in Syria, where the Russian war machine has simply run out of things that go boom. This means that if they invaded the West, they would be out of ammo before they tasted their first Polish sausage.

● Poor Bill Shatner just ran into the SJW tempest. Shatner is a Jew whose family escaped some of the anti-Jew festivities in Eastern Europe around the time of Hitler and who has spent much of his life talking about equality and freedom and all the things baby boomer liberals think they invented. This week, he made the comment that the Social Justice Warriors cannot be compared to "those who demanded social reform in the 60's." Ah Boomerism, thy name is HUGE F*CKING EGOS! Anyways, the SJW's went ape-kaka. They started posting articles claiming that Shatner is a racist, a member of the Alt-Right, and a fascist. They are posting pictures of him in a Nazi uniform and posting truly insulting things about him. The lesson... the SJW are hateful little creatures who cannot tell friend from foe.

● Seven Baltimore cops got caught on body cams planting drugs on a suspect. This is after another Baltimore cop got caught doing the same thing. First, these guys are too stupid to be cops. Seriously, did you not notice the cameras you pinned to your own shirts dipsh*ts?! Trust me, the profession is better off without these people. Secondly, there is no shortage of drug dealers in Baltimore, so why do they need to plant evidence on one of the few innocent people in town?

● HBO has been hacked like Sony before it. We have no idea who did this, but I blame the North Koreans... or Trump... or a North Korean who looks like Trump. Either way, we have bought this data for three tacos and some uranium, and we will start releasing it soon. Here's a small taste. This is from HBO's CEO: "People are too stupid to notice we only run seven movies over and over all month."

● Oh and suddenly "sex bots" are all the rage, as are articles asking if you should use one. I don't know. I guess my first question is, how are they cleaning these things? Is there like some sort of special cleaning kit....

Ode To Bread-n-Butter

I spent the better part of the afternoon doubled over in laughter. It is amazing that there are people actually writing for major media organizations who have no concept of what happens outside their own little bubbles. Here is a perfect example. Oh, and there will be a test, so pay attention:

I gotta tell ya', I haven't laughed this hard in a long time especially when I read this. Ms. Stein wrote these words in all seriousness and then it appeared in the NYT:

Though of course bread and butter are eaten all over, the buttered roll (or roll with butter, as it is known in parts of New Jersey) is a distinctly local phenomenon. Mention its name outside the New York metropolitan area and you would very likely be met with blank incomprehension.

And oh, this wasn't satire. I had just gotten passed the "buttered roll/roll with butter" explanation when the next part of that paragraph just made I laughed so hard I couldn't breath. I understand that you poor, unedumacated flyover people have NO idea what a buttered roll/roll with butter was before reading this.


And just to make sure that you can read...er, I mean have read the article, let's take a test:

1. Did you know what a buttered roll/roll with butter was before you read the article?

2. Do you know how to put "butter" on "a roll"?

3. The photo is of a "kaiser roll". Can you find this in your area?

4. What is the price of a pound of butter in your area? [Seriously, I am curious for personal reasons]

Because I know some of you don't have the great, good fortune of living in the "New York Metropolitan area" as I do, I am sure your answer to Question #2 has to be "No". Fortunately for you, there are videos on YouTube that will explain how to place butter on a roll in great detail. WARNING: Use caution because you can do seriously harm to yourself and those around you.

And PLEASE do not come to the "New York Metropolitan area" without learning this skill. Otherwise we will be obligated to point and laugh.

Actually, It was fun reading all of the counter-tweets to this article including the "How-To" on buttering a roll. And it had the extra added bonus of not having the word "Trump" in any of part of it!

Good Times

I ran across some people lamenting how the country was falling apart today. That's utter crap. And I thought I would share this thought...


Since the end of World War II at least (and in many ways even longer before that), the human race has been on a long, slow march toward greater freedom, greater innovation and greater achievement. This has resulted in growing freedom, prosperity and health worldwide. Are there hiccups? Sure. But when people worry about obesity being an epidemic or whether healthcare should be free or not rather than the black death, starvation, slavery, and rampaging hoards... those are pretty good times.

There is science going on right now that could extend human life and health for decades. He died at 80! So young? We are more capable than ever of doing what we do without damaging the Earth in the process. We have clean water... clean air and increasingly cleaner fuel. Isn't there a pill for that?

Despite what our political classes say, ethnicity and race are all becoming irrelevant to daily life for most people. We are increasingly free to be who we want to be. Our poor are wealthy by world standards, and world standards are rising. They own cars, appliances, apartments, phones and designer brands. Economic fate is being replaced by opportunity and mobility goes to all who work hard enough and smart enough to seize those opportunities. Poverty has become a choice.

Our military is unrivaled, safer than ever, and a force for peace. Our enemies are paper tigers.

The world has never been this peaceful, this prosperous or this stable. We are awash in choices, possibilities, tools and toys. Most importantly, health, wealth and happiness have become a choice, not an accident of birth.

These are not times to feel negative.

The Democratic Agenda

The Democrats have been putting together a new slogan. The slogan is apparently: “A Better Deal: better skills, better jobs, better wages”... at Papa Johns. Kamala Harris is also claiming they have a new agenda, one that is not simply opposition to Trump. Let's discuss.

Let us begin with the slogan. I will say in all honesty that this is an improvement of their quasi-socialist slogans like "Forward", which sounded like the Nazi "Drang Nacht Osten!", or Bernie Sanders' "Feel the Bern" (a clear invitation to touch him), "Not Me. Us" (which sounds like a breakup slogan - It's not me, it's you) or "Enough is Enough" which should be followed either by "I quit" or the sound of a madman blasting away at former coworkers.

Unlike those prior attempts, this one actually connects with reality and things people might want. So I give them points for that... though it does sound like the Papa John slogan. Of course, we also have to realize that a better slogan for their particular audience might be: "More Shit for You: More Welfare, More 'Rights', More Power for you over the whites/males/straights/religious nuts/rich/employed/sane/happy/meateaters/polluters/non-students who hold you down." In fact, I'm not sure any of those people give a shart about skills (skills is racist disenfranchisement), jobs (jobs is oppression!), or wages (wages is inequality), but who knows?

Anyways, the problems arise in the details. According to Kamala, this agenda will not be a "monosyllabic" simple slogan, but then she speaks in slogans. “It’s going to be multitiered, but essentially it’s about telling the American public we see them (slogan),” Harris said of the Democrats’ message. “All Americans want to know that they are healthy, that their children and their parents are going to have access to health care and dignity. All Americans want to know they can get a job and keep a job. All Americans want to be able to retire with dignity.” Let's take this in pieces.

1. All Americans want to know that... they are healthy. So the Democrats are promising perfect health. How they will achieve this is a good question? Perhaps they have a magic wand? If not, they will need to control what you eat, if you smoke or take drugs, tinker with your genetic code, invent some cures for diseases, make you exercise, and monitor your ass every day to make sure doctors treat you at the first sign of potential problems. Yeah, right.

2. All Americans want to know that... their children and their parents are going to have access to health care. Already had that before Obamacare. Then Obamacare made that tougher. Hence, these aren't really the people I would trust to deliver on this one.

3. All Americans want to know that... their children and their parents are going to have access to... dignity. The Dems keep using that word... I don't think it means what they think it means. And I can't wait for them to open a huge new bureaucracy to deliver us our dignity. Do you think that comes in milligrams or debasement? Either way, in de-basement is where you'll get it.

4. All Americans want to know that... they can get a job and keep a job. You mean lowering unemployment? Since Obama just had the worst employment record of any President ever, I'm not sure I believe this one. Also, this whole idea of guaranteed employment didn't work so well when it ruined Eastern Europe.

5. All Americans want to... be able to retire with dignity. You mean rather than being stripped naked and spanked by syphilitic midgets as gets down now? Good. I can climb on board that train. At least this wasn't just a slogan.

Anyways, then Kamala decided to go off-slogan and tell us the areas they want to "focus on", which means they have no agenda yet.

Jobs: Worst presidential record ever.
the economy: See jobs.
health care: Just f**ked that one up over the last eight years.
climate change: Mutually exclusive of the first two.
criminal justice reform: Because we like criminals better than cops.

Summing all of this up. Here is what I'm hearing:

We see you... losing your jobs as we raise the minimum wage, raise taxes on businesses, raise taxes to fight inequality, raise taxes to fight global warming, and divide what's left of the economy after the single-payer lunacy like spoils by race and gender.

We see you... collapsing in long lines as you wait for rationed healthcare.

We see you... running as we unleash criminals upon you.

We see you... bubbling over with hate as we set the races and sexes off against each other.

We see you... getting the same dignity shoved up your *ss sideways as we tell our wards they get from you.

What a solid agenda!

OMG! What happened?

Put down your drinks so you don't spit them all over your computer. Hillary's new book will arrive like a turd from 30,000 feet in book stores on September 12. In this book she will finally explain why she lost the 2016 race... not to be confused with why she lost the 2008 race. Oy vey.

For starters, here is how the book is being described:

"Clinton chronicles her stunning defeat in the 2016 presidential election, a race marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules."

Does this strike anyone as oddly similar to Eddie Valliant describing what was happening in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

"I'm gonna listen to you spin the Cloverleaf scenario. The story of greed, sex and murder. And the parts that I don't like, I'm gonna edit out."

According to Hillary's intro, this is why you should buy the book:

“In the past, for reasons I try to explain (Yoda: "That is why you fail, do or do not. There is no try."), I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public (Having an overactive bladder will do that to you.), like I was up on a wire without a net. (Life is a circus.). Now I’m letting my guard down. (I'm going commando!)”

Anyways, for those of you wanting to know what to expect. The book will basically be a list of all the people Hillary blames for her loss. She will deal with one person per page. The book is 4.2 million pages long.

Naturally, the internet is already poking fun at her ridiculous title, which is openly ambiguous in how you want to read it, lacks context because Hillary assumes everyone is still wondering what happened, and not at all clever:

Anyways, we have an excerpt that might interest you.

"I got screwed. It's everyone else's fault. It takes a village to get democracy right. We need to take all the children away and raise them in a village now where they will be taught to worship me."

That's about all we can share without making readers sterile. So pick the book up, it will be a tortured, horrific, whiny confession of how everyone else screwed Hillary.

What A World

Rumor has it that Justin Bieber is planning to start a church. WTF? Biebertologists believe that Bieber created the Earth and filled it with mean people who don't like him. In other thoughts...

● The Democrats have announced a new agenda. I'll deal with that turd next week. Suffice it to say they're going to fix all the things they broke.

● I love professional bowling in the past. Then it died. But now it's back! But there's a catch. Some of these dudes are bowling with two hands. Ug. It's like watching a child who has grown tall and wants to bowl.

● I watched the poker tournament too. Two cool things. First, they had a 64 year old British guy come in fourth. He'd never played in a tournament before and this was a bucket list thing for him. Way cool. Secondly, the winner had never played in a tournament before either -- though he did practice online. Very cool to see that.

● Why is Trump smearing his own Attorney General? I don't get the logic.

● John McCain is on a roll, isn't he? What an ass! It's like some sort of compulsion for him to smear his allies. So does Trump have McCainia or does McCain have The Trumps?

● Apparently, lasers can now be used to revive lost memories. The things lasers can do is amazing. One day, I think all of our medicine will be lasers and gut bacteria, i.e. manure pills.

● NFL training camps are opening up, and the country's attention span will now vanish. Feel free to rob a bank in a week or two.

● I truly do not understand any way that the cop was justified in shooting the Australian woman in Minnesota. Nothing about her behavior can be considered dangerous and yet this idiot shoots her through the door of his car? WTF? Who shoots through the door of a car in any event? There is something really wrong there. It's either murder or complete mental breakdown.

● If you have any sort of diabetic condition, eat cherries... eat a lot of them. Trust me on this. They may be good for arthritis too, but I'm less sure of that.

Going Nowhere...

Some interesting poll numbers out today. They don't bode well for the left.

(1) 43% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the economy. 41% disapprove.

(2) Only 37% of Americans say the Democratic Party "stands for something," while 52% say it just stands against Trump.

(3) Voter enthusiasm is the same for both Parties.

(4) The Democrats are seen as 42% favorable, 48% unfavorable. This is the same as before the election.

(5) His support among Republicans is the third highest in the past 60 years.

What makes all of this interesting is that the Democrats have been waging a War on Trump that is unprecedented. They have smeared and slimed and lied and flat out made up. They've attacked his kids, his supporters and his cabinet choices. They are ALL on the attack constantly, from every corner of their silly cult... Hollywood, media, social media, colleges, the parties, etc. This is a propaganda push that would have made the Nazis blush with its lack of subtlety and it's fueled by derangement. And yet, these numbers suggest that it's utterly failed.

1. Trump is no less popular with his supporters.
2. The Democrats haven't gained an ounce of popularity. If anything, they've lost support!
3. Their derangement doesn't even transfer to an enthusiasm boost.

How pathetic is that?

I'm Done With Doctor Who

Howdy folks! I wanted to post this the other day and didn't get the chance. Let me start by offering congratulations to Roger Federer for winning Wimbledon a record eight times and winning more majors than anyone else. It seems pretty clear to me that Federer is the best tennis player in the world and it's been amazing watching him.

Now for some people who are not the best.

Number One

I am done with Doctor Who. Why? The identity politics crew at the BBC has decided to cast a woman in the role. This is wrong on so many levels. For those who don't know, Doctor Who is a character from science fiction. Since 1963, the Doctor has roamed the universe fighting evil with his mind. In that time, many actors have played the role and they've made the switch by claiming that he regenerates when he gets killed, so he's still the same person even though he's different. This time, they've decided to make the character a female. That's bunk.

Here's the thing. Gender is not fluid, no matter what the left wants to claim. It is perhaps the one thing that is hardwired into us. You can substitute a black or white actor, an Asian or an alien, as there is nothing inherently "white" or British about this character. You can make him older or younger, angrier or nicer. You could probably even make him gay. But you can't make him a woman because the character is defined as male and that is how people see him. This is the thing liberal feminists simply don't understand. You can pretend to raise a kid as gender nothing, but the world is hardwired not to accept that and the kid will realize this one it starts looking to please more people than just its parents.

Moreover, this won't work. Why? It ruins the dynamics. The dynamics of the show have always been that the Doctor roams the universe with young female companions who treat him as a sort of father figure. Putting a woman into the father figure role strips so much of the dynamic, and I suspect will make it almost impossible for the companions to develop relationships with the Doctor. Essentially, they will go from father-daughter to some people on the same bus. Not to mention, the best Doctors have displayed a bumbling character that feminists don't let women play... it's sexist.

Even more stupidly, I am laughing at the message this sends. What it says is that women succeed not by writing new characters that people fall in love with. No, they don't succeed by earning the respect themselves. Apparently, women succeed by repeating what men have done. Aim high, sweeties.

I am thrilled to see that my daughter isn't buying this crap for a minute. She finds the whole thing pathetic and ruinous. I suspect the BBC is in for a little shock. Their first episode likely will have decent, but underwhelming ratings... and then the show will go into free fall as the freak show aspect of this wears off.

What a stupid idea all around.

Number Two

Speaking of stupid ideas, it looks like nothing will happen with health care. The GOP is packed with morons and insurance whores and the Democrats are holding their breath like rotten children until they turn bluer. I guess in the end I'm thankful nothing changed, seeing as how awful the proposals were. What a pathetic state our political establishment is in though when neither side has a clue what they are doing.

It's HS Class Reunion Time...

Okay, it's that time again. Hard to believe that my next high school class reunion is coming up this weekend. It will the...oh, you don't need to know which one. Let's just say that I remember when Neil Armstrong took that first step on the Moon [and okay, when John Glenn first circumnavigated the globe.] If you have never been to yours, I highly recommend it. It is a great touchstone for where you've been and where you are now. Let's just say that the movie "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" (1997) is not so off the mark.

For years I have thought about handing out a survey because it would be an interesting social experiment with a true "control group". We are all the same age and most of us went from grade school through high school together so we have a host of shared childhood memories. It has always been fascinating to me those classmates who even after all of this time, can remember even the most minute details about our life in high school. Honestly, I kind of left that all behind and moved on to other things that I kind of left behind along the way.

But anyway, this is my problem. These are the only question that I can come up with:

"Are you where you thought you would be?" and "What is your favorite memory?"

And that is about it. My mind goes blank. So, I guess you know what I am about to ask. Help me! Who better than the smart, thoughtful CommentaramaPeeps! If you were going to go your reunion and you were going to give a survey, what would you want to know? If nothing else, it will be a diversion from 24/7 cycle of RUSSIARUSSIARUSSIA! [That sounds like a line from a '70's comedy, doesn't it?]

More Ponderings

I seem to be off on my days. Hmm. Either way, here's an article fresh from my mind! :)

(1) Shia Ledouche was just caught making rather racist statements to cops who arrested him for being flipping insane and probably intoxicated. One such statement involved telling a white cop that his wife likes black c&^k. Then he told a black cop that he would go to hell because he's black. Nothing against Shia here, who probably should be locked away to protect himself and society, but has anyone noticed that when liberals get in trouble they become incredibly racist... sexist... anti-gay? Steven Colbert recently made fun of Trump by saying that he liked to have anal sex with Putin. So being gay is worthy of contempt? Several others have been caught using the word "c*cksucker" to attack people they encountered. Or you have the Harvard administrator who used racial slurs in local restaurant reviews. The n-word, the c-word, and the gay f-word all get used regularly to attack conservatives. Interesting.

(2) "Time is running out to pass Trump's agenda!" Really? Why? His term is four years, not four months. Why does Washington seem to think that anything not done in 100 days can't be done?

(3) Similarly, the MSM is mocking the Republicans for being on a second "or possible third!" draft of their healthcare bill. This is apparently something shameful. Really? Shouldn't they be praised for working out the problems rather than berated for not coming up with the perfect first draft? Something strikes me as wrong here.

(4) I'm telling you... Mark Zuckerberg will run for President in the next cycle (either 2020 or 2024). Some people think the Rock will, but I doubt it. He may try for governor somewhere though.

(5) So the military no longer has to worry about hurt feelings and Obama's desire to lead from behind and suddenly ISIS is in retreat across the Middle East. Imagine that.

(6) Now that the economy has recovered from the Obama years and unemployment is falling to historically more normal levels again, the left is stuck trying to explain it all away. Their arguments have been crap, however, and they seem to be left with (1) it might end soon and (2) the economy may be good, but people still feel bad. //sad emoji

(7) The voice of Kermit the Frog since Jim Henson died in the 1990s was fired this week. I wonder what he did? I wonder if he will now go into phone sex?

Recent Things

Hi Everybody! Here are some things I've come across recently that might interest you.

(1) A very reputable study of the minimum wage in Seattle found that while the overall number of jobs didn't decrease after the minimum wage rose to $12 an hour (on its way to $15), there was a significant shift in who was employed. Basically, employers dumped the low end employees -- the lowest skilled who are likely to get the minimum -- and replaced them with better, more expensive employees. This makes sense. Why pay someone $15 to struggle along when you can pay someone $17 and get quality? This has the left worried. Ostensibly, they are worried about the effect on the poor. But I think they are worried that this means that employers are starting to favor the competent... a world in which their supporters fair poorly.

(2) The left is running out of anti-Trump steam. They've lost every special election. The protests have basically ended... gee, where is the women's movement that we were told was coming? Their arguments remain shrill, but have all failed to turn up anything. Indeed, after hundreds of "this could be the end of Trump," there is nothing except in John McCain's fevered mind and a desire to see a Russian boogeyman in Trump's pocket. The Democratic leadership has turned to infighting. And even people like Letterman are admitting that they've lost interest and that they think the coverage needs to change before it turns people off. Too late.

(3) Enrollment keeps crashing at the U. of Missouri. Their enrollment is down 35% since 2015, when they gave in to the demands of a group of black racists. This is killing their budget. It's gotten so bad they actually want to rent out dorm rooms during football games to make revenue. The funny thing is that even though they gave in completely, black enrollment is down 42%. So giving in didn't even help with that.

(4) The Democrats keep thinking that their problem in elections is poor polling, i.e. an inability to accurately identify who is going to vote and who isn't and which way they are leaning. I think it's hilarious that they are stuck on process. Not a word is being spoken about how to actually win these people over. Of course, the problem there is that they have nothing to offer.

(5) The average age of the GOP leadership is in the 40s. The average age of the Democratic leadership is in the 70s. What does that tell you about the future of each party?

(6) I've become convinced that Trump won't hurt the GOP in the mid-terms. Why? For one thing, the public doesn't see him as a Republican. He's Trump, and his actions don't smear other people. Secondly, the public seems to have stuck with Trump through it all right now. Thirdly, the Democrats are offering things the public actively doesn't want. The GOP at least are neutrals.

Hi everybody, I'll get an article up soon. I literally had nothing at the moment. Plus, it was a busy weekend. I turned 47. Yay! I'm not dead. I saw a play. Booo! They cast a woman as Hamlet and lacked mastery over the pronouns. Got a big old blue ice drink from Dutch Brothers spilled in my lap... and all over my car (not as refreshing as it sounds). Got hailed on at a BBQ (ouch). And largely avoided the news. So this make take some time to find something to write.

Here's the deal. If you want to be taken seriously and not viewed as simply a set of big boobs and a sex object, don't keep taking your top off and displaying them! It's that simple. That is just stupid. But if you want to do that, don't claim sexism, misogyny or any other -ism, or "waaah, people don't like me 'cause I too pretty and have big boobs!"...seriously. Ancient Greek women understood this thousands of years ago. If you want to control men, withhold the one thing they really value...naked women. Now that we have settled that, on to something really serious...involuntary euthanasia.

Just read this and we can discuss if you want: Charlie Gard, 10 months old.

Briefly, little Charlie Gard was born in the UK with a genetic disease for which there reaaly is no hope of survival. However his parents do not want to give up on their 10 month old child just yet. As there is a possible treatment in the US, however remote, his parents have raised over two million dollars to bring him to the US. But unfortunately, not only will the UK health system not release this baby to his parents, the matter was taken up the EU. Taking the case to the EU, the unelected ruling body that has the ultimate say over life and death, ruled late last week that the parents have no right to their child and the child must be euthanized for what reason only God knows.

I have written before about this slippery slope of government-mandated euthanasia, but this is the most disturbing of late. The parents have been told by the highest court in Europe that their baby MUST die even to the point that they are not even allowed to hold their own baby boy in their arms for his last breath. All the parents want is to at least have the chance at their own expense to give their tiny precious chile the opportunity to have his short life have some value, even if that means giving his life so that humanity can be just one tiny step closer to being able to cure some other child. Not one dime would be spent by the EU or with public funds.

And even Pope Francis, the head of the all Christianity, sided at first with the UK and the EU with a statement that went something like “we must also accept the limits of medicine and […..] avoid aggressive medical procedures that are disproportionate to any expected results or excessively burdensome to the patient or the family."

Interestingly days later the Vatican shifted after this from President Trump:

If we can help little #CharlieGard, as per our friends in the U.K. and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so.

The Vatican sponsored hospital requested that little Charlie Gard be released to their care at the behest of Gard's parents. Still no word whether the UK hospital or the EU will relent.

But seriously, is this really the direction we want to head with humanity?

Violence Against the Media?

A couple thoughts after a long weekend...

(1) It continues to look like North Korea is going to cause a war. They fired off another missile, knowing full well that this will eventually force Trump to bomb them. I don't know what the game is, but let's hope that China takes out the regime.

(2) Trump re-tweeted some bizarre video in which he does wrestling moves on a CNN logo image. It was stupid and bizarre but I really don't care. What interests me is that the media is screaming that this promotes violence against the media. Really? Fascinating. These are the same people who sell violence to the public as a means to fame and entertainment, yet they scream that there is no connection between glorifying violence in the media and people deciding to use violence to settle score or get famous. This is one of those moments the right needs to jump up and point out that the rise in mass shootings seems directly linked to the rise of the 24 hour news cycle.

(3) What the hell is wrong with Chris Christie? This guy closed a public beach, ordered people with homes in the area to leave under threat of arrest... and then took his family to the beach. That kind of thing may have worked for Boss Tweed, but it's definitely a problem now. What a fool.

(4) The Republicans are doing some stupid things. Imagine that. First, they are looking to kill the requirement that larger restaurants include caloric information on their menus. This is something the pubic has been demanding for a long time and people are happy about. Even more to the point, they cancelled it (temporarily) a few days before it went into effect... by which point everyone was ready to comply anyways, so why cancel it? Stupid.

Secondly, the GOP is trying to change the phone solicitation law to allow solicitors to slide you voice messages without your phone ever ringing. Imagine picking up your phone throughout the day and seeing that you have a message. You have no idea who sent it to you, but you need to check to make sure it's not a friend or an emergency. If the GOP wants to piss people off, this is the way to do it. So what's next? Repealing the law that prevents television channels from jacking up the noise level of commercials? That's working great, so let's kill it!

Meanwhile, they can't do anything useful. Idiots.
