They Do Pile It High Sometimes

I’m in an ornery mood. It’s time to offend some people....

● Yahoo is a wretched hive of whiny idiocy. Seriously, they've hired a bunch of dumbass Millennials who's greatest goal in life is to post snark about unimportant events. Yahoo deserves to be flushed down history's toilet of failures. BTW, if you write for Yahoo, you may need to look up those words in a dictio-- uh... never mind. Just Google it morons.

● Yahoo has a story OMG about some poor woman OMG who was OMG like kicked out of like a gym OMG for like breastfeeding like her child and stuff. OMG! How can people be so rotten?!! Don’t they know it’s just a biological function?

You know what else is a biological function? Dropping a turd... masturbation... cleaning the old Johnson... clipping your toenails... picking your nose. And yet, none of those things are acceptable in public. So why should we get worked up about some woman being told not to breastfeed in a gym?

● There was a study just released which claims that 12% of men and 12% of women have now engaged in homosexual sex. They attribute the increase to acceptance of gays.

Yeah, nice try. I haven’t even looked at the methodology of that pile of crap and I can tell you that’s false. Why? Well, every single attempt ever to quantify gay activity (outside of the totally discredited Kinsey study) has found that around 2-3% of the population is gay... that’s it. It's consistent across age groups, races and countries. So a 12% finding would represent a sudden 400% to 600% increase. That never happens in nature or in human behavior. Moreover, other places have become much more accepting of gays long before us, and yet they experience NO increase in gay sex. So a study that claims to find a unique to mankind 500% increase in gay sex in the general population, something not found anywhere else in history or on the planet, sounds like total bullsh*t to me.

● Surprise surprise. The group suing Trump claiming that his university is a fraud just happens to have bundled $900,000 to Clinton. Shocker.

● WTF Glenn Beck? Beck is fringe. Beck is beyond fringe. Beck is full-retard fringe. And now he's running around like a paranoid with his aluminum hat blown off? Good grief. This is the pot head calling the kettle black. What’s more, he entertained the idea on his radio show of assassinating Trump. Glenn is not a man anyone should listen to. Seriously, Glenn, get back on the meds and stop the butt sex... it's rattling your brain.

● The leftist CEO of Starbucks did an interview this weekend in which he called for civility in politics. You first, f*cker. When the left drops hate as the core of their ideology, outrage and smear as their campaign tactics, and starts bathing, then we’ll talk.

● Finally, tell me that the picture below doesn’t ring of Frank-N-Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show...

A couple things to add...

First, mega kudos to the Air Force pilot who managed to crash his plane in an empty field rather than homes. And condolences to the navy/Marine pilot who died.

Second, I got tickets to Denver's Comic-Con today. My daughter actually cried... dream come true. LOL!

Andrew,

Have fun at Comic-Con!

Andrew.....That picture (Selma Hayek?) looks photoshopped. The head is not proportional to the body.

And if it is Hayek, I loved her grandfathers work!

"They say everyone has a homosexual fantasy at least once in their lives. So I'm sitting around the other day trying to find mine BECAUSE I WANT IT OUT -- OH!!! OH!!!"

The day I see Yahoo writers not include something "you know, like, this" in a sentence, I'll consider taking them semi-seriously.

tryanmax said...

Patriot, I'm afraid the dress is real and Salma is really wearing it. There are other photos from the same event. [LINK]

I agree the photo looks off, but it's garishly front-lit which distorts the sense of depth. Plus, it's an optical illusion that lighter colored things tend to look larger than darker colored things, and her face is much lighter than the dress.

It could also be that Salma has a larger than average head. It has been noted that other parts of her are larger than average. What!?

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Kit, it's in a couple weeks. She wants to get Stan Lee's autograph.

AndrewPrice said...

Patriot, I suspect that's not her grandfather!

And that is not photoshopped. It's just a very poor choice. Or she's a fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

AndrewPrice said...

Eric, I've never had one either. The whole thing sounds like BS to me... wishful thinking on the part of closeted gay researchers.

AndrewPrice said...

tryanmax, LOL! Yep. She has many larger than life things. That said, she is also quite tiny, like under 5 foot tall.

In any event, the whole scene reminds me of Frank-N-Furter in his lab coat.

AndrewPrice said...

BTW, Eric, Yahoo drives me nuts. They really hired a bunch of talentless kids who have no idea what they're supposed to do, so they troll the internet looking for things to emote about and then they write an "outrage article" or a "snark article." Truly pathetic.

Is this your first con? I want to say no, but I don't recall you talking about it before. In any case, bring some snacks and don't under-estimate crowds and parking!

I just checked the con website - two of my favorite Star Trek conceptual designers are gonna be there, presumably signing their work: John Eaves and Rick Sternbach.

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, Oddly, it is.

Any advice? We got the three day pass and we're thinking of doing a hotel rather than driving back and forth. We're going up late on the first day though.

AndrewPrice said...

It looks like a pretty major show. There are a lot of quasi-famous people who will be there.

ScottDS said...

Andrew -

I wouldn't call myself an expert but I've been to a handful, including the big one in San Diego.

I would go with a hotel, anything to avoid traffic. No doubt the hotels closest to the convention center are all booked but it's certainly worth a shot. (In Orlando, we lucked out one year and got a room in a hotel connected to the convention center so no driving was required!)

Everything costs money. Yes, you might want C. Thomas Howell to sign a photo of himself as Ponyboy but it might cost a few bucks. Personally, I'm not an autograph guy at all - I just don't care that much and what do I do with it when I get home?

As fun as it can be to aimlessly navigate the con floor, you should figure out what you want to see and do first and go from there. Lines can start first thing in the morning, even for events not happening till evening.

Bring a phone charger. If you have one of those extra battery packs, bring that too.

There's more here. It mostly applies to San Diego which has its own unique brand of insanity, but there are some helpful hints.

Have fun!

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, I just got a very impressive hotel with a surprisingly cheap rate. Not sure why, but why not? It's 0.3 miles from the center, so we can walk that.

I figured that determining the schedule would be the best thing to do. Didn't think about lines though. I guess I (wrongly) assumed there would be enough space to pop in to see whatever.

Thanks for the tips!

ScottDS said...

Andrew -

Depending on the panel, there might be. But it is something to consider. I usually scout out the rooms in advance and if there's a line forming already, I don't go anywhere.

A girl wrote a response to a recent Hollywood film that seems to imply that the disabled are a burden and that suicide is a good option.LINK

Many good moments:

"You sit there with your able bodies, and look at people in chairs and think you feel pity for our sad little lives, but the truth is you’re afraid. You don’t want to imagine that you might be one of us one day. You think you can be perfect, and think you’d rather die than have parts that don’t work right. I think that’s sad."

And this:

-----------------------
Yes, I called myself crippled. It’s just a word. You should get over it already. You already think I should want to die, so why do you care what I call myself? Some lady told me it was demeaning to use that word and I should say “differently-abled” instead.

Well, that’s dumb. My legs don’t work. I am crippled. It’s just a fact of my life, and you need to get over it. Political correctness is around to make the Able Bodies more comfortable with the idea of me — it’s not for me. If you really cared about what I thought and wanted to treat me like a person, then you wouldn’t make movies about how the nicest thing I could do for my family would be to off myself. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
-----------------------

Every. God. Damn. Word.

ArgentGale said...

Heh heh, that was worth a few good laughs, especially the second one and great point on the Starbucks one. Nice Sam Kinison reference, too, Eric! I'm with both of you in thinking that study is BS.

Also, have fun at the con, Andrew! Dragon Con is the big one down here, though I've never been. One of my cousins and his wife always go there, as do a number of my friends, and it feels like something I should do given my interests, but between the price and just a general bad feeling about how much fun it would actually be I've just never been able to work up the interest.

Interesting, Kit. Obviously relates to that new movie coming out "You Before Me". And just because this particular person may never have contemplated suicide from being "crippled", some, if not many, people in that situation DO!

Another thought came to mind...the more "connected" we are through electronic means, the more tedious it becomes. Everyone has an opinion about everything and tend to become impervious to the plight of others...except gorillas apparently. I find myself being generally being pissed off at being constantly "judged" - damned if I do and damned if I don't.

Don't get me wrong, I am just as bad as others, but it is not all or nothing. Am I the only one who get's tired of my own opinion? AAAHHHHHH!

Okay, I am better now...

Kit said...

Bev,

2 points:

(1) There is a difference between contemplating suicide and committing suicide.

(2) The problem is that it seems that in Hollywood, the bulk of people who are crippled end up preferring death —and receiving it. This could be "drama for the sake of drama" but eventually, one has to notice an agenda there.

BevfromNYC said...

Other point...
1) thin line...
2) okay, but what agenda and why is it wrong to not want to live a life of dependence if it is one's choice to make? Okay, with our now emerging national health plan that will eventually encourage that "choice" [see anything written by Ezekial Emmanuel, the doctor believes that no one should want to live after 70 because you are relevant and can no longer contribute anything (Alternately see: 96yr old Dr. Henry Heimlich who just saved a life with his name-sake maneuver)]

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, We're definitely going to study the schedule. Nice tips, by the way.

AndrewPrice said...

Kit, I have no issued with people killing themselves actually, and I would rather that they did it safely than picking some method that involves the public.

I am troubled when others try to influence those decisions.

Kit said...

Andrew,

The problem is that when you legally (and socially) sanction it there is now a pressure to commit suicide.

AndrewPrice said...

Thanks Daniel! I think it will be fun. I'm really looking forward to seeing what all they are doing. My daughter is super excited about all the cosplay, especially the anime people.

The breastfeeding thing is typical of Yahoo. Some idiot delicate sits in an office in silicon valley scouring the news for anything that their delicate little hearts and shrunken brains can squeeze into an outrage and then they write an "OMG, as if" article in which they assume that everyone agrees with them. I can't image people I look down upon more except maybe white trash methheads.

Yeah, the gay thing is totally made up. There's no way.

AndrewPrice said...

Kit, People are going to do it. Fact of life. Can't be stopped. I think it's better to do it in a safe, humane way, maybe even after requiring some counseling, than having people doing it on their own in some way that can kill and destroy other people.

If you're worried about pressure, then have the law seize their assets and make them do it after a week in treatment away from family and friends.

AndrewPrice said...

Bev, I think we need to discourage causal suicide, i.e. people who might just be down in the dumps or haven't thought things through.

That said...

Human suffering is something we really aren't qualified to judge. Some people can bear any amount of pain and difficulty, others can't. I think this is one of those moments where we need to admit that we just don't have any ability to place ourselves into the minds of people who want to kill themselves, and we should not judge.

Re: Trump University. This goes well with the laying it on thick. The latest thing being talked about Is the release of "playbooks" used to sell Trump U. Shock, horror! The books are loaded with *gasp* sales techniques, such as learning personal details about the client, making them feel confident and comfortable, using persuasive language, and overcoming objections. Basically, black and white proof that Trump has no soul.

Or rather, black and white proof that journalists really do live in a rare bubble. The Trump playbook is certainly more detailed than any playbook I've seen before, but these are techniques used by every salesperson ever.

And it's not like Trump U was a telemarketing scheme targeting lonely old ladies in their homes. The document says that their target client was a 40ish make making $90,000 annual with at least $2000 in liquid assets. Not the top of the heap, but not rubes, either.

One other thing: the folks suing Trump U claim they were promised riches. Because I'm super boring, I read the 2010 playbook. It is super adamant about not making promises. Of course, that doesn't reflect what a speaker might have said, but as evidence, it certainly undermines the claim.

Like I said, boors over liars.

tryanmax, et al -

Wanna hear something really funny that just occurred to me? When I lived in the NJ/NY area, one of my temp jobs was working... for the Trump organization!

Technically, I was an employee of the temp agency but like all temp jobs, they called me and asked if I'd be interested. It was just for a day or two - data entry. I finished much faster than they had anticipated and they asked me to help with some number crunching. It was too advanced for me but since they wanted to keep me around for the day, they had me clean a closet instead.

I always thought it'd be funny if Trump actually stopped by and said something like, "I like the cut of his jib. Corner office!" You know, like in the movies.

Today his more, uh, overzealous fans on the "alt right" would probably just harass me on Twitter for being Jewish. :-)

AndrewPrice said...

tryanmax, To expand your Trump U point, this drives me nuts with leftists (and paranoid idiots). There are several attacking the NFL right now and they are doing the same thing...

"They're marketing to kids! OMG! They're trying to hook children into enjoying a dangerous sport!! The monsters!"

"OMG, they're selling merchandise to pregnant woman! They're trying to get those football fans to hook their kids starting as babies! They're acting like drug dealers!"

"OMG, the NFL is has stopped doing something that turned out to be bad PR to them! (taking money from the military) And they even returned the money!! How dare they try to escape what they did! Don't you see how evil they are?!!!"

"OMG, they're trying to get cities to bid on the Super Bowl because a competitive bidding process means the cities will offer them things for the privilege. The evil, evil bastards!!!" (//breaks down crying at the insanity of it all)

Basically, every business decision is an attempt to exploit, every marketing strategy is a conspiracy, every good deal is cynically done, every mistake needs to become an indelible stain and fixing a mistake becomes a coverup, etc.

This is leftist crap which gets used against their enemies -- businesses, rich people on the other side, and conservatives. It's disturbing to see conservatives adopt the same tactic.

AndrewPrice said...

Scott, Oh Scott. Jew + Trump numbers man makes you an international Zionist. How many banks do you own now? And what was really in that closet you "cleaned"?

//sigh

AndrewPrice said...

Oh, and tryanmax, the two biggest NFL crimes:

1. Responding to the "Redskin" issue. The mere fact that they are putting together responses and citing polls and people who don't think the name is a problem gets attacked as deceptive, hateful, and cynical attempts to defend racism. Apparently, as Kafka predicted, thou mayest not defend yourself once you've been charged.

2) The Ray Rice/domestic violence thing. Step one: The NFL is evil for not castrating and terminating Ray Rice for life before he even got a chance to defend himself. Step two: the NFL's punishment was far too weak. At least a lifetime ban was needed. The NFL must hate women. Step Three: The NFL was evil for not putting a rule in place to ban every player accused of domestic violence for life. Step Four: The NFL bans three players for the year... but... but that violates the union rules which limit what the NFL can do! The NFL is evil for going against the union! Step Five: The NFL violated these players rights by not giving them a chance to be heard and not following the collective bargaining rules on punishments. Step Six: Rice gets reinstated, but no one wants him... so, the NFL is evil for not giving the wrongly punished Ray Rice a second chance. Must be racism!!

Seriously, this is the circle through which every liberal sports writer traveled. It's mindboggling.

Ha! In retrospect, I wish I had taken a souvenir with me. Nothing big... a pen, a paperweight. Something.

And whenever I see those Jewish stereotypes about owning everything, my reaction is always the same: "I wish!!" ;-)

Andrew, excellent rundown on the left's attitude toward the NFL/business practices in general. Just this morning I saw the millionth article about how retailers "trick" you int buying stuff. Stuff like upbeat music, soft lighting, pleasant atmosphere. Apparently stores should look like dungeons and smell like feed lots.

Back to Trump U, I heard some lady reporter on the radio claim that, while she's not overly sensitive, she just had to put those awful playbooks down because they made her so upset. I wonder what set her off? The part about how the sales staff should dress professionally, or that no one should be admitted to the conference room before signing in?

Oh wait, here it is: "Reporters are rarely on your side and they are not sympathetic." Trump University 2010 Playbook, p81

AndrewPrice said...

tryanmax, So true: Apparently stores should look like dungeons and smell like feed lots.

Of course, then they would attack them for being unsafe. Probably prone to causing rape too... and racism.

I have nothing but contempt for those people.

On Trump U, I'm not sure what to say about delicates like that woman. Its so idiotic that it seems like it can't be a genuine claim. So she's probably just a malicious liar. But then it's possible that she's so messed up that she's telling the truth, in which event I become a fan of forced euthanasia to spare her (and us) the pain of her existence.

I wonder if this delicate ditz... ditzicate knows that Team Obama and Team Hillary have the exact same kind of playbook?

tryanmax said...

I wonder if this delicate ditz...knows that Team Obama and Team Hillary have the exact same kind of playbook?

They know it, they just think it's justified. It's all about which team you're on. They believe if a Democrat knocks you down, it must've been for a good reason and if a Republucan reaches to help you up, it's a trick.

Good cosplay is definitely a highlight of a good con, Andrew! I've thought about doing it myself a few times (some friends told me I could pull off Auron from Final Fantasy X and the Dynasty Warriors portrayal of Lu Bu and I've also considered Lezard from the Valkyrie Profile games) but it can get pretty costly. Enjoy it in any case, though!

Tryanmax, you beat me to it on the knocking you down/helping you up analogy... That popped into my mind when I saw the discussion about the paranoid attacks. Personally it wouldn't surprise me if Trump had been up to something with Trump University and he's not doing himself any favors by attacking the judge the way he is but if you're going to go after it at least do it credibly! And on Trump Larry Correia (not a Trump fan at all) had a pretty insightful comment on him in a Facebook thread where he expressed his disapproval of the violence against his supporters. A commenter on the thread said something along the lines of how the left has completely abandoned all pretenses of wanting civilized discussion and how they dehumanize their opponents in order to justify their hate. He then wondered if Trump wasn't a backlash against that and wondered what that means for the rational people. Larry's response was the left's attitudes toward dissent is how you end up with Trump and Space Raptor Butt Invasion getting Presidential and Hugo Award nominations.
